2 CAREER OPTIONS IN FILM AND MEDIA There are a range of career options within the film and media industry ranging from production roles (pre-to post production) roles to roles such as research and film distribution. In addition the film and media industry also employs staff including accountants, human resources professionals and lawyers. It is essential that during and even before your studies you enhance your CV by gaining work experience to develop your skills and make contacts within the industry. Gaining experience can include work experience, voluntary work, working on briefs and participating in competitions and opportunities such as the Guardian Student Media Awards and entering your student film into film festivals: Use industry directories such as the ones listed above to help you to source and research companies. 4 FUNDING British Film Institute British Film Institute s Film Fund which funds feature film production/development ands short films Funding for public engagement projects Current funding schemes include: London Calling and London Calling Plus; Microwave: funds micro budget feature films (up to 100K for the team). Support includes mentoring, workshops, screening and script surgeries.
