1 Kindergarten Welcome! Welcome to Kindergarten at Silver Lake Elementary School! This is a very exciting time for you and your child. Below you will see the supplies that your child will need for kindergarten. We have also included some information to help you prepare your child for the first day of school. We look forward to meeting you soon! Supplies List Girls bring 1 pack of baby wipes Boys bring 1 pack of Clorox brand wipes Bring 1 pack of skinny dry erase markers, black Girls bring 1 box of quart size baggies Boys bring 1 roll of paper towels 12 pack of solid glue sticks (Please stock up and keep some spares on hand) 2 regular, yellow #2 pencils sharpened (limit is 2 please keep spares at home) Scissors (Fiskars brand is the best) 1 box of crayons, 16 count 1 eraser, pink (no cartoon characters) School box- no larger than 9 x6 Paint shirt parent s old shirt with student name written on it Book bag about 9 x12 so a folder and library book will fit in it - NO WHEELS 1 two pocket folder with holes (durable) 2 notebooks 70 pages 1 old sock (used as an eraser) Headphones placed inside a Ziploc baggie with your child s name 1 one inch white binder with pockets 10 insertable tab dividers for binders 1 large (10 "x 7.75") pencil case with three holes for binders ** Please note that supplies will need to be replenished throughout the school year so you may want to buy extras while the Back to School sales are on (folders, glue sticks, crayons, and erasers). Preparing for the First Day Please do the following with your child s supplies: 1. Please take glue, crayons, pencils, scissors, and erasers out of their packages. 2. Please place these items in your child s supply box. 3. Please be sure your child s pencils are sharpened before placing them into the supply box. 4. Please place your child s name on his/her folder, notebook, paint shirt, book bag, and school box. 5. Please do not put dry erase markers in the supply boxes. We will take those on the first day of school. 6. Please place 5 tab dividers in the one inch binder. Please give the other 5 to your child s classroom teacher. Please have your child practice zipping, snapping, or buttoning his/her jacket. Kindergarten is not as you remember it. Kindergarten is work and requires children to sit quietly, to focus, and to take turns learning. It is a structured day that requires self-discipline and self-control. Please work on these skills at home with your child so that he/she is well prepared for the first day of school. On the first day of school, feel free to come in and help your child get settled, give him/her a reassuring hug and then depart. Children who are ready usually have no difficulty coming in on their own after that.

2 First Grade Supply List Glue sticks (2) Elmer's type glue 8 oz. size (1) Pencils: 5 quality, sharpened #2 Pencils (names on each pencil) Crayons: 24 count (No Markers) Scissors (Fiskars brand is best) Eraser: soft pink or green; no cartoon characters, creatures, etc. Expo Wide Dry Erase Markers (low odor, black if possible) several Old sock for a white board eraser Paper Towels: 2 large rolls Tissues: 2 large boxes Small backpack (no wheels): These should be easy for the students to carry Pocket Folders: 2 durable: 1 marked Take Home and the other marked Stay at School & name (both on front) School box to hold all supplies (must fit in desk/no larger than 9" x 6") Pair of headphones (no ear buds!) This is a must for sanitary reasons! Please put in a zip-lock bag with name on front Clorox Disinfectant Wipes: 1 container (must be Clorox) Large bottle of Purell (must be Purell) Bottle of hand soap: girls only Gallon sized plastic bags: boys only Binder: 1 one-inch white binder (Name clearly marked on front) Binder: 1 two-inch white binder with 2 pockets inside & plastic cover over front and back (Name clearly marked on front) pack of 5 tab dividers that fit into two-inch binder; Labeled: Behavior, Reading, Spelling, Written Expression Pencil case with 3 holes to fit into a 3 ringed binder (big enough to fit a DVD in it) * Please note that supplies will need to be replenished throughout the year. You may want to buy extras while the "Back to School" sales are on. * Please have all supplies opened up and put in school box with names on everything.

3 Home of the Black Tigers! Second Grade Supply List Silver Lake School large note books. About 90 sheets and wide ruled. Only If you are new to Silver Lake Elementary School your will need a 1 inch, three ring binder. Students who attended first grade at Silver Lake will use their binders from first grade. Three ring binder dividers, pack of 5 School Fees $ wood number 2 pencils. No mechanical pencils please. 1-2 red pens 2-3 large pencil eraser 2 highlighters. Supply box. No larger than 11x7 and not to tall. (It must fit in a desk) 5 dry erase markers and an old sock for an eraser. A box of crayons. 24 count is plenty. Please no 64 count boxes 2 glue sticks Scissors (metal- I recommend Fiskars brand) Backpack or book bag 2 large boxes of tissues Boys1 package of Ziploc baggies quart size Girls 1 package of Ziploc baggies gallon size 2 containers of disinfecting wipes such as Clorox 3 plastic folders with pockets. 1 purple, 1 green, and 1 red please. Plastic will last longer. Headphones or ear buds, but please ensure they are comfortable for your child and fit properly. 4 Third Grade Supply List for Classroom Supplies 1. Personal headphones (no ear buds) Yellow, American Made Pencils; (No mechanical pencils) (No plastic wrap/design pencils-they break the sharpener) 3. 4 Big pink erasers 4. FOLDERS: (Bottom pockets needed for all folders) 5 folders - one of each color: red, green, blue, yellow, purple 1 folder orange plastic or heavy duty 1 folder - red plastic with three prongs 5. Scissors (Fiskars brand recommended, no blunt tip) 6. Crayons, 24 count only 7. Markers your choice of thick or thin 8. 4 glue sticks 9. 2 dry erase markers and a clean old sock to use as an eraser. 10. Three large boxes of tissues one subject spiral notebooks (wide rule) 12. Ziploc girls purchase sandwich size boys purchase gallon sized 13. One container of Clorox brand wipes 14. One plastic school box size 8 ½ x Multiplication flash cards (2 packs, keep one at home for nightly practice). 16. Two packages of post it notes standard 3x3 size, and yellow package of index cards white. P.E. Supplies Tennis shoes will be needed on gym days. Students may keep a pair at school. They will not change clothes for gym this year. Please buy extra supplies during back to school sales. Students will need to replenish their supplies throughout the school year.
