NewsFlash will be published periodically to provide you with the latest information about RISO Marketing initiatives. Special Paper Feed Kit feeds up to 210 lb index! We are pleased to announce the availability of the Special Paper Feed Kit, an optional accessory for our MZ and RZ Printer-Duplicators (see RZ-MZ Accessory Compatibility Chart for special requirements when using with RZ220). This accessory broadens the range of acceptable paper weights to 210 lb index. Yet another reason RISO Printer-Duplicators are the most versatile duplicators on the market! For a small investment customers can enhance the capabilities of their Printer-Duplicator by easily printing applications requiring heavier stocks, further eliminating the need to outsource print jobs. Please keep in mind that some stocks may need to be printed at slower speeds and in shorter stacks. The Standard Stripper Unit allows for feeding/printing up to 110 lb index, and should be used for paper weights within the normal specifications. It is simple for an end user to quickly switch between the Special Paper Feed Kit and the Standard Stripper Unit depending on the job they are printing. RISO Part # Product Description SRP S-3664 Special Paper Feed Kit $ Attached is a sample of a 194 lb. index that would normally be out of spec, however printing this type of stock was a breeze with the Special Paper Feed Kit. Also attached, please find information on adjustments that can be made while using either the Standard Stripper Unit or the Special Paper Feed Kit, as well as adjustments that can be made to the receiving area for optimum paper handling and operation. 2 Adjusting the green stripper dials for feeding a wide variety of papers. RZ990 & MZ790 have both dials; the rest of the RZ series only has the angle adjustment. Important: before making the adjustments, remove all paper from the Paper Feed Tray and confirm that the tray has lowered to the bottom. The bottom green dial adjusts the pressure of the stripper. (RZ990 & MZ790) For paper that easily creates paper dust/ powder, skips, or for the back side of postcards that are curled up: Turn the dial to the left. If multiple sheets of paper are being fed: Turn the dial to the right. Normal Strong Medium Weak 9:00 Normal Paper Setting 20 lb.- 40 lb. 12:00 NCR/Slick Paper 6:00 Heavy Paper 110 lb. 3:00 Card/Envelope The top green dial adjusts the angle of the stripper plate. (All RZ & MZ) When the feeding skips Turn the dial to the left. When multiple sheets are fed Turn the dial to the right. Some possible suggestions; Paper Type Bottom Dial (Pressure) Top Dial (Angle) Normal 9:00 12:00 NCR 12:00 3:00 Envelopes 9:00 12:00 (if thicker then 1:00 or 2:00) Card Stock 9:00 or 6:00 3:00 (if the media is rigid then 9:00) These are only suggestions; every paper manufacturer has similar papers that may have different qualities, some experimentation may be necessary to achieve optimal results.

3 Installing the Special Paper Feed Unit (S-3664) for heavy weight papers 1. Removing the Standard Stripper Unit 1. Open the Feed Tray Paper Guides as wide as possible 2. While pressing the Paper Release Lever to the left, pull off the Stripper Unit by holding the dent indicated in the illustration. NOTE: If your printer does not have a Paper Release Lever, you can take off the Stripper Unit just by pulling it toward you. Pickup Release Lever Pickup Roller Dent Feed Tray Paper Guides Arm 2. Installing the Special Paper Feed Unit 1. Lay the unit face down and fit the joints to the lower pair of arms. 2. Raise the unit and press into the printer. 3. Securing the Special Paper Feed Unit 1. Slide the Lock Lever upward until it is securely locked. 2. Push back the knob. Note: Turn the Feed Pressure Adjustment Lever on the printer to Card. Knob Setting up the Stripper Angle Adjust the Stripper Angle by turning the Stripper Angle Adjustment Dial with a coin to match the different paper weights. This measure is also effective in solving different kinds of feed problems. Turn the dial counterclockwise when: Printing on thick paper Paper slips Excessive paper dust is produced 400 g/m 2 (210-lb index) 100 g/m 2 (27-lb bond) Turn the dial clockwise when: Printing on thin paper Multiple paper feeding occurs

4 Loading paper. Place paper in the printing orientation, and slide the Feed Tray Paper Guides to fit to the sides of the paper. Then turn the right and left Feed Tray Paper Guide Levers to lock the guides. Important!: Do not use paper of inappropriate sizes or mix paper of different sizes. Before sliding the Feed Tray Paper Guides, position its lock lever to Make sure that the Feed Tray Paper Guides fit tight up against the paper. Failure to do so can produce undesired results. Unlock Lock Selecting the paper feed pressure. Position the Paper Feed Pressure Adjustment Lever according to the finish of the paper. NORMAL: CARD: For standard paper For thick or smooth-surface paper Normal Card Adjusting the Paper Arrangers on receiving tray Alignment of paper is affected by sizes and strength of paper. Adjust the Paper Arrangers so that printed paper is aligned. Press the Paper Arranger to push the plates out, pull up to pull them in. (Not available for RZ220) For plain paper: Press to open all of the four Paper Arrangers. For plain paper with images lopsided on page: Press to open the two Paper Arrangers on the more heavily printed side. For thick paper: Press to open the two Paper Arrangers (right and left) closer to the machine.

5 Adjusting the Paper Jumping Wing (RZ310 & RZ390). (Unavailable for RZ220, Automatic for RZ590, RZ990, & MZ790) Adjust the Paper Jumping Wing Adjustment Dial according to the type and width of the paper as it is inserted into the machine. For ordinary paper widths larger than Letter, or equal to or larger than B4 Set to Ledger or A3 B4. A3, B4 Ledger A4, B5 Legal, Letter Statement For ordinary paper widths that are either equal to or smaller than Letter or that are smaller than B4 Set to Legal Letter Statement or A4 B5.
