6 Data Team Recap The Data Team has been working on identifying gateway courses (Indicator of Success - the enrollment in and successful completion of initial college-level or selected gateway courses) and shaping the data splash for the kick-off event. The Data Team has selected a manageable handful of courses (college-level gateway courses) that are affecting the largest amount of students. These courses are: English 101 Biology 160 Computer Science 110 Math 107 Math 141 Write 100 Business Math 112 Psychology 100 Math 201 All of these courses filter into degree pathways. The criteria included courses with high student # s and high D, F, & W grades over the past 3 years and patterns of courses that crossed over 25% failure. These courses have limited options for progression and include the Clarkston and Walla Walla campuses, including e-learning and evening courses. (There is a secondary initiative that looks at pre-college courses, which is why we are focused on college-level at this time.) A Data Fact Sheet is being compiled to provide as a hand-out at the kick-off event. We have approximately 210 clickers to use for the Data Splash session; it will be short & sweet and will lead into a broader discussion with the group. The Data Splash will feature a fall co-hort (which includes three fall qtrs. 2010, 2011, 2012) of students that were enrolled in Math lower than 100 level & placement (placement vs. enrollment, enroll is likely one to be used). This will examine the relationship of time of enrollment (when they register in relation to quarter start date) and their retention. Misc. Business Core Team meeting dates: o Begins Sept. 17 3:30 in Rm. 121 (these will be held on alternate Tuesday s from the Data Team mtgs. originally it was planned that the Data Team & Core Team mtgs. would be back to back on the same day, however this does not work for folks who have other mtg. obligations). Posters for decoration: will include sayings such as - We are perfectly designed to get the results we are getting etc. o Those who attended Orlando please send Jill & Susan their favorite sayings o Karen Kirkwood came up with good graphic 3 boys with varying height difference watching game over fence Equity vs. Equality o Melissa will help coordinate w/graphics to get posters and media for the kick-off o Button maker being ordered, please send any input for button phrases to Melissa Clarkston visit

7 o Susan, Jill, Nick, and Josh will visit the Clarkston Campus on September 16 th to replicate the WW campus kick-off event for Clarkston employees Equity Game update TFL: The Finish Line o Board game that puts you in a student s shoes the student s experience is dictated by pulling cards o We will have group/room leaders to assist with facilitation of the game o Written instructions will be prepared by Jill & Susan along with group discussion points Details of the Rollout on Sept. 12 th Clickers will be picked up at sign-in Coaches recommend we invite 2 of our Board Members What individuals do Mark & Stan (coaches) want to meet with?
