(March 28, 2015) Doc Films, the historic student-run film society at the University of Chicago, announced its Spring 2015 calendar today. Starting on March 30 th, each night features a film series with a unifying theme, be it a director, actor, time, place, studio, genre, or idea. Saturdays showcase a sampling of recent hits you might have missed or perhaps you re craving another viewing and murmuring restorations under the hype radar. In addition to the many special events hosted by Doc Films at the Max Palevsky Cinema, the programmers have designed these eight series to provide the community and world with nightly oases of cinematic reverence: MONDAYS from March 30 th to June 1 st we present to you: Vivien Leigh including such fine roles as FIRE OVER ENGLAND (3/30), GONE WITH THE WIND (4/27), and A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE (5/18). TUESDAYS from March 31 sr to June 2 nd are the works of documentarian Frederick Wiseman. Stand witness to HIGH SCHOOL (3/31), BLIND (5/5), and PUBLIC HOUSING (5/26). WEDNESDAYS from April 1 st to June 3 rd we bring you the directorial work of the masterful Orson Welles, with CITIZEN KANE (4/1), TOUCH OF EVIL (4/15), THE TRIAL (4/22), LADY FROM SHANGHAI (5/6) and OTHELLO (5/27). THURSDAYS PART ONE from April 2 nd to June 4 th, sirens blare for Doc s showings of Poliziotteschi films. Feel the criminal excitement of such films as CONFESSIONS OF A POLICE CAPTAIN (4/16), ALMOST HUMAN (5/17), and WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOUR DAUGHTERS (5/28) THURSDAYS PART TWO from April 2 nd to June 4 th feel Doc sliming up your spine with our Lovecraftian Horror series including such titles as RE-ANIMATOR (4/2), EVIL DEAD (5/14), and NIGHTBREED (5/21) FRIDAYS from April 3 rd to June 5 th we bring you the galactic, the insane, the ultraviolent works of Stanley Kubrick detailing the highlights and nearly forgotten parts of his career with A CLOCKWORK ORANGE (4/3), DOCTOR STRANGELOVE (4/24), 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (5/1), EYES WIDE SHUT (5/29) and FEAR AND DESIRE (6/5).
