3 Syllabus for S Y B A; American Literature; Paper V and Paper VI (to be implemented from onwards) Objectives of the Course 1) To acquaint the learners with various genres and terms of the Twentieth- Century American Literature. 2) To sensitise the learners to the themes and styles of American Literature. 3) To introduce learners to the socio-cultural milieu of the Twentieth-century America through literary texts. 4) To enhance the understanding of American, African-American and Multicultural sensibilities by introducing students to the literary works representing these elements. 5) To facilitate cross-cultural perspectives and discussions on American Literature.
