Skyride Voucher Deal By the Brilliant Bears Intro Kayla- As a group we came up with a promotional deal for the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Our idea helps to promote skyride ticket sales by offering the public a discounted deal. Levi- For every two general admissions tickets purchased, one free skyride ticket will be rewarded. This ticket will be the one way ride and will be handled the same way as the normal one way rides. Summary Ariel- We believe this will encourage fairgoers to purchase an additional skyride ticket. Who wants to experience this amazing opportunity alone? Renee- Our hope is that this proposal will persuade the holder of the skyride voucher to purchase another voucher for a friend, family member, or special someone. Rachel- This will also allow first time riders to receive a bird s eye view and a better understanding of the layout of the grounds. Striking the visitors interest in other rides and attractions at the state fair. Bringing people in Emilie- As we have stated, this proposal is perfect for bringing more people to the skyride. Many people would not like to ride the sky ride alone and would want to take another person. Caleb- It would bring a different crowd into the skyride that may not have ridden the skyride on a normal day. Rules and Regulations Anna- This offer does not apply to non-paying customers and 4-H youth who have received free tickets from their county fair. The tickets purchased online, on the app, and at a ticket booth the day of the fair have the opportunity to receive this deal. Laura- All the existing rules of the skyride are not voided. You must request the voucher when purchasing tickets. Advertising Wil- Voucher advertisement will be posted online and by the entrances. This promotion will also be advertised on the state fair app. Funds Bryce- We believe that this will bring in funds because there will be more people coming to the ride. The only cost would be the one ticket that we believe will be made up by other sales that the deal would bring in. Conclusion Cassidy- We believe that this idea will increase sales at the Indiana State Fair and provide visitors with a better overall experience. We are open to any alterations or additions to our proposal. Nick- We are open to any and all questions and suggestions the board has for us. Thank you for listening to our proposal.
Empowering Elephants Board Proposal Kelli The field of Agriculture is changing rapidly due to advances in modern technology and robotics. Our proposal is to create a technology exhibit at the fair to teach youth about the bridge between technology and farming. Sydney When fairgoers arrive at our exhibit, the first thing they will see is a virtual reality area, where they can experience modern agriculture using technology. Then they will encounter a knowledgeable volunteer explaining how drones help their jobs. They will also experience powerpoints on a TV showing what the drones do. There will be demonstrations of VEX robots and how they work. Whitney The purpose of our proposal is to get people who are not usually interested in agriculture to become interested by incorporating technology in our interactive exhibit. Those involved would include For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Teams, Technology and Company Sponsors, Fair Board, Farmers, Local 4-Hers, and VEX Robotics. Tony Those who will benefit from this proposal would include fairgoers, Robotics Teams, the State Fair itself and Farmers. The Fair attendance would increase, bolstered by members of Robotics teams statewide. While the fair is for everyone, many of the activities are for younger children. This proposal would give youth and young adults a progressive view of the future, and a reason to bring them to the fair. Ben This proposal should be implemented because it would draw new people to the fair, and it would add to the educational value to our youth from examples of our farmers using cutting-edge technology in their jobs. Solomon Expected outcomes from this proposal include increased attendance, addition of a new dimension to the fair by adding new technology and generating interest from teenagers by engaging them more. More youth might be motivated to enter agriculture and/or technology fields. Katie Course of Action: 1. Get sponsors: technology companies (Robotics/Coding companies, CODE.org), agriculture businesses (Superior Ag, Pioneer, Eli Lilly) 2. Determine content of exhibit: Drone Simulators, Virtual Reality, Robotics demos, 4-H Makerspace, TVs with edu slideshows containing how farmers use technology in their work.
3. Ask F.I.R.S.T. robotics teams for interest in volunteering their time and robots for a few days. Also include VEX robotics. 4. Determine Location. Thoughts: Barn with electricity (rabbit barn or other unused livestock barn). A prime location would be the exhibit halls where the 4-H demonstrations are located. 5. Schedule days when the exhibit would be hosted based off availability of the location selected. We were thinking 3 days for the event. Luke 6. Recruit volunteers to host the exhibit. Local 4-H-ers and/or Robotics club members would make perfect volunteers. 7. Schedule demonstration times (3 - half hour demonstrations each day, 1PM, 4PM, 7PM. The exhibit would be interactive remainder of the day). 8. Include suggestion box inside the exhibit for people to cast their input. 9. Set up the exhibit the day before it starts. 10. Host exhibit for the three days of the fair that we selected. 11. Tear down day after exhibit closes. 12. Assess how it performed, determine any changes that should be made if we are to continue this. Ashlyn We will know that our proposal is a success when people ask about the Technology exhibit and seek it out. Through our feedback in the suggestion box, we will know what people like and dislike. We would also know it is a success when the fair has increased attendance for this exhibit. We would be able to assess the success of the proposal by the end of the first year. Sarah This proposal could be used in other areas by introducing more people to 4-H. County fairs could have smaller versions of this, since some of them have robotics teams of their own. The resources needed to implement this proposal would be Robotics teams with robots, access to electricity, Televisions, Drone simulators, Virtual Reality devices, Volunteers, etc. Liabilities may include Technology becoming damaged. To prevent this, we would have volunteers closely monitoring the exhibits. Maddie Summary: In conclusion, this proposal would be a useful tool to boost interest in technology and agriculture of young minds by hosting an interactive exhibit where they can experience modern technology being used in agriculture today. Agriculture will always be a necessary part of our economy. As the world of agriculture changes, it is important that we learn to change with it.
Corn Maze Presented by Loyal Lions Opening This proposal is implementing a corn maze to get more attention around the Pioneer Village and Little Hands on the Farm. It also promotes agriculture using various sponsors. Materials needed for the Corn maze will include corn, straw bales, or popcorn. Straw or popcorn would be a more kid-friendly choice, because of their shorter height, making it a safer option to keep track of small children. We have also considered that straw bales would make an easier set-up and clean-up as well as a better choice for our size limitations. It would also prevent having to till or prepare the assigned space creating less work for fair workers throughout the year. Cost depending upon what material we use to make the maze out of, it would probably cost in between $1,500 - $2,000. We will get our money from farmer donations, or the farmers can donate materials to make the maze. As a thank you to the farmers that donate money or materials, we will make a board in front of the maze with the farmers names or company names on it. Location - the location of the maze is marked on the maps. It starts by Little Hands on the Farm, so will be a great location for kids. In the Indiana State Fair app, we plan to implement a GPS system to guide you through the map every step of the way and points out important markers. Benefits The corn maze will be designed to get more people to Little Hands on the Farm. The maze will promote the app and bring more attention to it. It will be a great learning experience and promote agriculture to people who may not have a strong agriculture background. Kid Focus could provide prizes for kids when they exit the maze. We will plant popcorn instead of normal corn, since the stalks are shorter than normal corn, making it easier to find the children in the maze. Funding we propose to charge a small fee to enter the maze. Or we could ask for a free will donation. Closing Statement I think a corn maze would be a great idea to integrate into the Indiana State Fair. It would add something new and exciting to get kids and other fair patrons involved and active. Thank you for listening to our a-maze-ing proposal! We appreciation your consideration.
Recycling Bins Presented by Magnificent Magicians We propose that the State Fair put Recycling Bins next to each trash can around the fair. We would have community sponsors, such as county fairs, families and companies pay for them. These sponsors would get their name on their bin. We estimate the cost of creating this idea would be close to $30/bin, including labor costs, although they would be a minimum. The price we recommend having sponsors pay is $75/bin. This not only is helping clean up our community, save our planet, and give recognition to those helping our fair, but it also may bring some profit, too.
Dancing the Night Away Proposal Presented by Tenacious Tigers Good evening, we are the tenacious tigers. We are grateful for the opportunity to come and address you with a proposal designed to better the Indiana State Fair in the future years to come. Our proposal is to implement a social gathering in the form of a quote on quote barn dance. The purpose of our proposal is simply to dance. Dancing is a fun and inclusive way to draw in fair patrons. A barn dance would be the perfect solution. This includes allowing the animal exhibitions an inexpensive attraction in the evening hours. At only two dollars it allows for a variety of patrons to get involved in the fair as it raises funds for any improvements needed in the barns. The Indiana State Fair, caters fun for all ages. This dance will be no different. The dance will begin at seven with a country theme. This portion of the dance is great for the entire family. After 8:30 p.m. the dance will transition to a more up-beat/hip-hop style dance that caters more for teens and young adults. The dance will take place on the Fridays and Saturdays of the State Fair from The dance can expand to other days in the future if the state fair board deems the expansion fit. We have proposed a quote on quote barn dance with the intentions that the dance will be held in one of the barns at the fairgrounds. We believe a barn would be the best because many of the barns rotate between sheltering animals. This means that there will frequently be a large and empty space that can be used for the barn dances. These barns are indoors which eliminates any weather concerns. However, the great thing about a dance is that it can take place in any open space. Our dance could be held practically anywhere on the fairgrounds, including outside. It will be important to advertise this dance. Therefore, we will be putting posters for the dance all over the state fair grounds. We could also contact local radio and news stations to see if they could some air time to talk about the dance. Another option for advertisements would be to announce the dances prior to concerts and other events at the state fairs. The resources that would be needed to start this dance would be a DJ, a crew to setup and clean the dance area, and also security that would need to be moved to the location of the dance. Liabilities for this dance would be any injuries that may occur during the dance, individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs causing issues, and other common inappropriate behaviors that may occur. The best way to measure the success of this event would be judged based on the number of individuals that attend this dance. It could also be judged on whether or not there is an increase patrons going to the fair on the nights of the dances. Implementing this barn dance project will help draw in a large diverse group of people and furthermore, a larger profit useful in the future of the State Fair. With the variety of music, and the large number of people looking to hang out and have fun on a Friday night, the dance will help to bring in a large number of patrons. The dance will also help advertise other fair activities. The two dollar fee and number of 4-Hers already present and looking for something new/exciting to do with their time. Overall, making this proposal more than worthwhile to the fair s cause! Thank you very much for your time and we will now answer any questions that the board may have.
