1 INTRODUCTION OF OVERSEAS TECHNICAL CENTER Introduction of Technical Center function in FUJITSU TEN (THAILAND) Tetsuya SASAKI Hiroyuki OHTOSHI ChiangMai Bangkok H/Q(BKO) Pattaya/Rayong Factory(RAF) Phuket Abstract FUJITSU TEN (THAILAND) CO., LTD. (FTTL) established in August, 1998 started operations as a sales company. FTTL mainly produces the audio products for Thailand, ASEAN region and FTL, and also sells them. Here we introduce our Technical center (T/C) function which started activities by a residence engineer in 1996 before FTTL was established. A specialist in product planning has also been based in T/C since The T/C system in FTTL is conducted by 2 Japanese representatives. Main operations of T/C are "Marketing Research", "New product proposal to customer" and "Local Adaptation Evaluation" activities. Our focus is mainly Thailand and ASEAN region where we sell our products; however, we also service India and GCC countries. The T/C function in FTTL includes an ASEAN generalization function for planning and evaluation. The T/C activities are coordinated with each company in ASEAN Fujitsu Ten group and the each country agency. This article introduces "Marketing Research" activity and "New product proposal (Planning for local dispatch)". 25

The ownership rate of a mobile phone equipped with BT is a little less than 70%. 27

5 Introduction of Technical Center function in FUJITSU TEN (THAILAND) Efforts for Locally-based Product Planning Acceptance rate of audio system without CD deck Usage rate of portable audio equipment (already reported), and other items Adoption of all-in-one unit with storage box and 2DIN size Improvement of operability by adding the button (mode button/search button) Improvement of operability/visibility by increasing the number of lines to be indicated (two lines to three lines) 3.2 Evaluation Group's Efforts Efforts for Local Adaptation Test (Radio Reception and Sound Quality) There are many broadcast stations (about 70 to 80 broadcast stations can be received). Modulation degree is high (mostly 150% or more of modulation). All radio stations are not controlled by the radio wave administration bureau. 29

Many electrical power transmission lines (noise in AM broadcast) are put along the road.
