2 Rationale for a Standard Station Configuration If there were no constraints, what is the recommended complement of radios and antennas for each station Of course each station has constraints Use as a yardstick to measure the current station capabilities against and identify shortfalls Management decision whether/how to remedy the shortfalls Make the best use of the radios and antennas in stock Propose non-stock items only where it makes sense Objective: Cover all bands from.8 to 450 MHz Simultaneous operation on 2m, 220, 6m and 0m Plus 70cm coverage to communicate with contact/contract cities Support NVIS on HF 2

10 If We Have to Use Only Stock Antennas Two mono-band low band VHF antennas cut for the operating frequency combined with a duplexer could substitute for the Diamond CP60 6m/0m dual band antenna The high band VHF antennas should be tested for 440 VSWR performance If adequate, that could substitute for the Diamond X50A If not adequate then we need another mono-band antenna for low split UHF with a duplexer The quad band radios would need 4 antennas with 3 duplexers The HF radio would use the HyGain DX-88 trap vertical Good for general HF coverage but not for NVIS, so a horizontal dipole would have to be added to cover 3 7 MHz 0
