2 PERFORMING SIMULATION TESTS OF AC POWER LINES WITH A HIGH DEGREE OF FLEXIBILITY THROUGH ARBITRARY CREATION AND EDITING OF VOLTAGE WAVEFORMS! OUTLINE Quick Wave Sequencer (model: SD04-PCR-L) can perform simulation tests of various types of AC power line, such as commercial power lines, using a PCR-L AC power supply. It can simulate any status, such as an abnormal power feed status, that occurs only rarely in general commercial power lines, as well as the most ideal power feed status. The software consists of two applications, Sequence Builder and Wave Bank Server, which run in parallel. Features Capable of performing the following abnormal AC power line simulations. Dip interruption tests, voltage variation tests, Abrupt phase shift tests, output of a harmonic composite waveform, and output of an oscilloscope-captured waveform through a PCR-L power supply Test data can be saved as setup files; the same test can be easily repeated. In addition, these files can be transferred by or commercial BBS(Bulletin Board System) to reproduce the same tests on a PCR-L power supply at a different location. Summaries of test results can be printed out to enable easy checking. 3 SD04-PCR-L 1. Sequence Builder What is a sequence? A sequence is a function that varies the voltage, frequency, or waveform of AC output or outputs a trigger from the PCR-L series and performs other actions at a timing(step) previously entered. A sequence consists of multiple step, and you can specify the number of repetitions (1 to 99,998 or infinite) for a sequence. For example, you can specify a sequence so that the voltage is increased gradually from 100 Vrms to 115 Vrms over a few seconds, a certain time after the sequence is started, and then gradually reduced to 100 Vrms over a few seconds, and this sequence is repeated 100 times. What is Sequence Builder? The PCR-L power supplies alone have the above-mentioned sequence function. However, to use a sequence, you must specify and edit step, then transfer step information to a PCR-L power supply. The Sequence Builder made it easy. It has sequence wizards that automatically create tests by letting you enter parameters, and a printout function that outputs the information of a sequence. What are sequence wizards? Generally, a variety of simulation tests can be conducted by specifying steps for a sequence. However, for tests involving dip interruption, voltage variations, and abrupt phase shift in single-phase output, you can simply enter parameters into a sequence wizard This enables the wizard to create a sequence corresponding to the relevant test. Wizard for dip interruption simulation Wizard for voltage variation simulation Function Editing items of steps The following items can be simultaneously set for each step. Up to 100 steps can be specified. [Time] Sets the duration of the step. Setting range second to 999 hours 59 seconds seconds Minimum increment second (resolution: 1 ms) [Voltage] Sets a voltage (Vrms) to be output in the step. This voltage setting is maintained up to the next step. Setting range to Vrms Minimum increment Vrms [Voltage Ramp] Sets voltage so that it changes gradually from the [Voltage] specified in the previous step to the [Voltage] specified in the current step, taking the specified [Time] [Frequency] Sets the frequency (Hz) to be output in the step. This frequency setting is maintained up to the next step. Setting range to Hz Minimum increment to Hz (setting resolution: 0.01) to Hz (setting resolution: 0.1) [Frequency Ramp] Sets frequency so that it changes gradually from the [Frequency] specified in the previous step to the [Frequency] specified in the current step, taking the specified [Time]. [Wave bank] Selects the waveform to be used in the current step, from Wave Bank Server. Setting range... No.0 to No.13 No.0 (fixed to SIN wave) No.1 to No.13 (current waves in Wave Bank Server ) [Output] Sets whether power is fed. [Trigger] Outputs a trigger signal from the BNC terminal at the rear of a PCR-L power supply when the current step is executed. This trigger is used for an oscilloscope or other device. [Waveform Synchronization] Each step is executed at the next zero crossing of output voltage. Wizard for abrupt phase shift in single-phase output

4 SD04-PCR-L 2. Wave Bank Server What is Wave Bank Server? PCR-L power supplies store the shapes of waveforms used as references for output, in an internal memory called the wave bank. The wave bank consists of banks No. 0 to No. 13 Bank number 0 is fixed to SIN wave and bank numbers 1 to 13 can be used to edit waveforms freely. Wave Bank Server is the application used for editing those wave banks. Waveforms edited and generated by Wave Bank Server (in wave bank numbers 0 to 13) can be printed out as simplified waveform images. Note: The No.14 wave bank is used by Wave Bank Server. As data area. Function Types of waveforms Sine wave This wave bank represents an ordinary AC waveform, or sine wave. Harmonic composite waveform This wave bank generates a waveform containing harmonic components. For each harmonic component, the output levels and phases of 1st to 50th orders can be set. The output level and phase can be set for each order. Output level: 1% to 100% (1% step) (assuming the set voltage of the fundamental wave to be 100%) Phase: 0 to 359 (1 step) Peak-clipped waveform This wave bank allows you to specify a degree of waveform distortion to create a waveform whose peak has been limited a specified level. You simply enter a value (0.01 step), then Wave Bank Server creates a waveform whose peak is clipped in accordance with that value. Peak-clip value in single-phase output: 1.10 to 1.40

5 SD04-PCR-L User-defined waveform The PCR-L series allow external waveforms to be input via GPIB. Wave Bank Server uses this function to support certain waveforms. Wave Bank Server can generate a triangle wave, a square wave, or a wave acquired from an oscilloscope in small categories known as applets. Note:The waveform resolution is 4,096 points on the voltage axis x 1,024 points on the time axis, regardless of frequency. However, the actual output depends on the performance of the PCR-L power supply in use. [Types of applets] Triangle Creates a triangle wave and allows you to specify the duty ratio of the waveform (position of the peak). Easy Power Waveformer This feature captures a waveform using a digital oscilloscope and allows that waveform to be used as a user-defined waveform. It allows the waveform of an actual commercial power line, a signal generator, a power generator, a UPS, or other equipment to be acquired and then output via a PCR-L power supply. Moreover, the captured waveform can be saved as a file. Note:Acquisition of waveforms from a commercial power line using an oscilloscope requires insulation between the oscilloscope and commercial power line. Square Creates a square wave and allows you to specify the duty ratio of positive and negative portions. Note:If the duty ratio is disturbed, a DC component is superimposed on the plus or minus side in proportion to the degree of imbalance between the positive and negative sides. When the output contains a DC component, the power of a PCR-L power supply is assured only up to a half level.
