4 History and Future With the appointment of Reiner Thomä in 1992 to University Professor, the group Electronic Measurements (EMT) started at TU Ilmenau In 2008, Prof. Heuberger founded the Wireless Distribution Systems (DVT) group, composed of a chair at TU Ilmenau and a Fraunhofer project group In 2011, Prof. Heuberger left the TU Ilmenau to become Director of Fraunhofer IIS. In 2012 Prof. Del Galdo took his place. In 2015 the project group became a department. 2012
5 History and Future In 2016, the EMT and DVT groups merged into the Electronic Measurements and Signal Processing (EMS) group under the cooperative leadership of Prof. Del Galdo and Prof. Thomä In 2018 the two chairs at TU Ilmenau will be merged into one under the leadership of Prof. Del Galdo. Prof. Thomä will retire from TU Ilmenau but continue as chief scientist at Fraunhofer IIS.
6 W2 Professorship The EMS group has currently a job opening for a position of University Professor University Professor (W2), fixed-term 6 years Topic: Integrated Analog RF Signal Processing The jobholder will take a management position within the DVT department at Fraunhofer IIS The new chair at TU Ilmenau will share the resources (personnel, rooms, infrastructure) of the DVT and EMT chairs, becoming integral part of the EMS group. future EMS group current EMS new W2
