1 Dual Channel Intradyne Coherent Receiver Data Sheet

2 Dual Channel Intradyne Coherent Receiver The Dual Channel Intradyne Coherent Receiver integrates two polarization beam splitters (PBS), four 90-degree hybrid mixers with a high-speed photodetector array and two fourchannel linear TIAs supporting high-speed links up to 400G. The integrated VOAs enable input signal power control to avoid overload/saturation conditions within the receiver. The advanced four channel TIAs are configured via a SPI interface and enable both analog and digital control/monitor functions of the ICR electronics. The base SPI commands enables control of TIA gain control mode selection, gain level (MGC mode), output amplitude and TIA internal feedback loop BW (AGC mode), TIA bandwidth, and digital monitor of PD current, gain, and output peak detector. The SPI interface also supports full digital control and monitoring of TIA functions, enabling significant simplification of module level control circuitry. For simplicity, only half of the Dual ICR block diagram is shown, corresponding to the receiver side that handles one input wavelength. An identical block diagram would correspond to the receiver side that handles the second input wavelength The linear TIA functions are configured via SPI. There are multiple options of configuration for TIA control and monitoring. Upon power up, TIA outputs would be always in shut-down mode. TIA output can be turned-on via SPI command. The TIAs have two operation modes: manual gain control (MGC) mode and automatic gain control (AGC) mode, which is selected via SPI. In MGC mode, the TIA gain can be controlled either with external analogue voltage via ICR functional pins Ai (i=0 to 3) or digitally via SPI and internal DACs. In AGC mode, the TIA output swing amplitude can be controlled either with external analogue voltage via ICR functional pins Ai (i=0 to3) or digitally via SPI and internal DACs. For each TIA channel, there is a dedicated analogue monitoring pin, Mi (i=0 to 3) at which multiple monitoring parameters are available, selectable via SPI. The same set of I/O parameters can be also be monitored in parallel digitally via internal ADC and SPI bus, independently from the analogue monitoring. The available monitoring parameters are: high-speed PD DC current, V_GC, V_OA, and output peak detector voltage. TIA band width control function is available via SPI, allowing real time optimization of dual ICR performance by end users. 3
