2 OBJECTIVES DEMONSTRATOR ARCHITECTURE

3 OBJECTIVES SARABAND is a project supported by the European Commission s Seventh Framework Programme. The SARABAND project is proposing an architecture providing multigigabit capacity in a cost effective manner by exploiting point to multipoint (PtM) links and the Q-band (40,5 43,5 GHz) spectrum. SARABAND Project will develop radio and antenna for the deployment of a demonstrator on the campus of the Universitat Polytechnica de VALENCIA to prove the accuracy of the proposed Architecture.

4 NETWORK DEMONSTRATOR The demonstrator will provide Gigabit Ethernet communications from central site to 5 PC terminals (NTE) through a mm wave network comprising a transmission hub (TH) and 2 relays (RNj). The communications will be established within VLAN, and 5 channels each of them having a throughput of 120Mbps in an adaptive (upload / download) half-duplex mode. 5 NETWORK DEMONSTRATOR The demonstrator will field prove the following capabilities: 120Mbps throughput on terminals The efficiency of the antennas which provide high SNR for maximum capacity (64QAM modulation order) The multi-beam principle on the first relay The resiliency principle on the second relay The frequency reuse on a dense deployment

12 HIGH GAIN, MIDDLE GAIN AND MULTIBEAM ANTENNA Antenna gains, in relation with radio P1 db outputs, are previously calculated to reach capacities requirements on each node. Lens (high gain, middle gain and multibeam) and FABRY PEROT antennas are developped for SARABAND Project)

ONERA develop small size FABRY PEROT Lens development aims, also, to reduce height of antenna Node Terminal Equipment (NTE) An objective of SARABAND Project is to fit Operators requirements.
