About this Document Overview This addendum provides information specific to the DEFINITY Communications System Generic 3VS (G3vs) switch release. Its function is as a supplement to, and is intended to be used in conjunction with, the information already provided in DEFINITY Communications System Generic 1 and Generic 3i Implementation, , Issue 1. DEFINITY Generic 3vs is available in two distinct packages: Advantage Business Package (ABP) Premier Business Package (PBP) This addendum lists those features, available in Generic 1 and Generic 3i, that are not supported by the Generic 3vs release. In addition, features that may be optionally implemented on a Generic 3vs system are discussed. In many cases, the only difference between a Generic 3i and Generic 3vs feature implementation is the maximum system capacity available for that feature. When using DEFINITY Communications System Generic 1 and Generic 3i Implementation to implement the G3vs System, refer to the System Capacities section of this addendum. For additional information on DEFINITY Generic 3VS, refer to DEFINITY Communications System Generic 3vs Feature Description Addendum, ADD, and DEFINITY Communications System Generic 3vs System Description Addendum, ADD2. i

About this Document Organization In the interest of brevity, only G3VS specific information is provided in this addendum. Refer to the appropriate section in DEFINITY Communications System Generic 1 and Generic 3i Implementation, , Issue 1, when implementing features on the G3VS System. The other chapters of this addendum are: DEFINITY Generic 3vs Capabilities An overview of the capabilities and features of the G3VS ABP and PBP packages. System Capacities A table that lists maximum feature capacities for DEFINITY Generic 1.1, Generic G3VS ABP, Generic 3VS PBP, Generic 3s ABP, Generic 3s PBP, and Generic 3i. ii

DEFINITY Generic 3vs Capabilities 1 Overview This chapter outlines the capabilities of the G3vs Advantage Business Package (ABP) and G3vs Premier Business Package (PBP) in relation to the G3i system. Advantage Business Package The DEFINITY Generic 3VS Advantage Business Package (ABP) is a derivative of the DEFINITY Generic 3i System providing support for up to total stations and 50 trunks. The maximum line and station capacities for a G3VS system are actually software capacities. These capacities are limited by the hardware design of the G3VS Compact Single Carrier Cabinet (CSCC), which provides universal port slots to accommodate stations and trunks. A typical G3VS customer configuration includes up to 0 stations and 2 trunks. With the exception of the features listed below, all standard features available with G3i are also supported by G3VS ABP; however, the capacity limits for some features are reduced from the G3i levels. Refer to Chapter 2, System Capacities for a complete listing of all capacity limits. 1-1

DEFINITY Generic 3VS Capabilities Features not available with G3VS ABP: G3VS ABP does not support the G3i optional features (for example, Centralized Attendant Service, and Distributed Communications Services (DCS)). CallVisor Adjunct./Switch Application Interface (ASAI) Administered Connections High or Critical reliability Expansion Port Network (EPN) Support ISDN-BRI SCC port cabinets G3VS only supports a single wall-mounted cabinet. For information on the circuit pack configuration when conducting the System survey, see DEFINITY Communications System Generic 3 Planning and Configuration, G3-MA error checking capability Release 2.0 G3-MA software verifies entries using the DEFINITY Generic 3i capacity limits and not the G3VS Advantage Business Package capacity limits. If you enter data within the G3i capacity limits, but not within the Advantage Business Package capacity limits, you will not receive any error messages until you try to send the data to the DEFINITY G3VS switch. Refer to the System Capacities chapter later in this addendum for the correct capacity limits. In addition to the standard features provided with G3VS ABP, there are several optional feature packages that may be purchased to enhance the capabilities of the ABP System. The following option packages may be selected individually or in any combination: Except where noted, the individual features in the various option packages are not available separately. Authorization Codes Option Adds the Authorization Codes feature to G3VS ABP. The Automatic Route Selection (ARS) Option must be purchased before Authorization Codes can be implemented on G3VS ABP. 1-2

DEFINITY Generic 3VS Capabilities Automatic Route Selection (ARS) Option Adds Automatic Route Selection to G3VS ABP. This option must be purchased to activate the Authorization Codes Option. Basic Call Center Option The Basic Call Center Option consists of the features listed below. Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) Basic Call Management System (BCMS) System Measurement and Traffic Reports (also available separately) If the System Measurement and Traffic Reports feature is not purchased (either separately, as shown below, or as part of the Basic Call Center Option), the Security Violations Measurement Report is still available on the system. System Measurement and Traffic Reports Option Adds the ability to generate System Measurement and Traffic Reports on G3VS ABP. If the System Measurement and Traffic Reports Option is not purchased, the Security Violations Measurement Report is still available on the System. Voice Mail Application Support Option The Voice Mail Application Support Option consists of the features listed below. Leave Word Calling (LWC) Linked Call Coverage Paths The Voice Mail Application Support Option is activated only when the customer has an AT&T voice processing adjunct (AUDIX, AUDIX VOICE POWER, AUDIX VOICE POWER Lodging, or DEFINITY AUDIX).

DEFINITY Generic 3vs Capabilities Premier Business Package The DEFINITY Generic 3VS Premier Business Package (PBP) supports all features available with the G3VS Advantage Business Package. In addition, all optional G3i features (for example, Call Vectoring and Centralized Attendant Service) are also optionally available with G3VS PBP; however, the capacity limits for some features are reduced from the G3i levels. Refer to Chapter 2, System Capacities, for a complete listing of all capacity limits. The only G3i capabilities not supported by G3VS PBP are: High or Critical reliability CallVisor ASAl Expansion Port Network (EPN) support ISDN-BRI SCC port cabinets G3VS only supports a single wall-mounted cabinet. If you enter data within the G3i capacity limits, but not within the Premier Business Package capacity limits, you will not receive any error messages until you try to send the data to the DEFINITY G3VS switch. Refer to the System Capacities chapter in this addendum for the current capacity limits. 1-

SYSTEM CAPACITIES 2 Overview Table 2-1 begins on the next page and compares the maximum system capacities for the following DEFINITY Communications System configurations: G1.1, G3VS Advantage Business Package (ABP), G3VS Premier Business Package (PBP), G3s Advantage Business Package (ABP), G3s Premier Business Package (PBP), and G3i. NOTES: Not all maximum capacities listed in Table 2-1 can be reached simultaneously with all versions or all configurations of the System. In the G3vs, the primary limit to capacity is the universal port slot limit. The 7 Plus Voice Terminal requires aliasing on the Generic 3VS system. For complete information regarding aliasing see DEFINITTY Communications System and System 75 and System 5 Terminals and Adjuncts Reference Manual,
