1 PLT SYSTEM PIPE LINE TELECOMMUNICATION Dez Electronic Jonoob ( LTD ) شرکت دانش بنیان دز الکترونیک جنوب Currently, telecommunication and telemetry systems have found special place in various industries, including oil, gas, water, etc., due to the wide industry, as well as the need to transfer information and creating networks monitoring and control in this facility, but on the other hand, due to the wide network, there are points that the use of radio and satellite systems is not feasible or economical (such as oil and gas wells and pipelines, etc. in the areas that are impassable and far from telecommunication facilities). Therefore, the necessity of using such telemetry and telecommunication systems is rising increasingly. Hence, in order to solve the above problems, in the South Electronic Foundation's Knowledge Collection, we have presented a solution to use the pipes as a line telecommunication transmission and after during 3 years of research, we could present a system to transmit the desired data by using existing oil and gas pipes in the industries. Telemetry is a parameter measurement process or data collection far from center (or inaccessible) and data transferring through telecommunication platforms in order to control and monitor the process. PLT is acronym of (PIPE LINE TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEM) Therefore, the PLT system is a telemetry system to monitor and control with a difference that it uses the existing metal pipes wall in the oil and gas industry to create a communication link

2 The use of this system in impassable areas (such as mountainous and desert areas) has special importance and it can measure the different parameters online and offline at the long distances and because this system is independent of other networks like GSM, thus, it does not require the establishment of BTS and transfers the data from existing pipes and from this point of view, it could obtain the special place in field of telemetry. PLT system has so far been presented in two models: In the offline model, it can save up 3 to 5 years of energy and according to internal programming measures and transmits the data. ON LINE OFF LINE The system consists of three parts: 1. Transmitter: is a measuring and transmitting system (telemetry) that can carry out different components such as flow pressure, corrosion and sensor readings and send them over the pipe 2.. Repeaters: is a repeater system used to re-transmit signals at long distances along the path 3. Receivers: is a data receiver system for storing and displaying information. Additional equipment: A A. A portable receiver: is a sort of handheld receiver and designed to perform settings and test along the way B. Sender GSM / GPRS / Transmitter: is a system according to the need that is placed on-site after the receiver and in order to display the information sends the data to another server B 2

3 The distinction of this system: 1. No need to install the radio, satellite, cable and mobile (GSM) networks 2. Suitable for impassable areas where there is no telecommunication system, such as mountains and deserts (no monitoring possible) 3. Able to supply energy up to 5 years and no need to external power supply 4. Use of pipe to transfer the data The distinction of this system: Some technical features: 1. Analog and digital input 2. 4 Usages and applications: 1.Transmission of data through the wall of metal pipes 2.Control of corrosion and cathodic protection analysis 3.Perform telemetry without the need for radio and telecommunication networks 4.Create of transferring channel for monitoring and control using oil, gas and water metal pipes 5.Monitoring of various parameters (such as flow, pressure, EC voltage, current, corrosion, etc.) 6.Creating the channel for remote control, such as opening and closing a valve or switching on and off a pump 7.Creating any control and monitoring network remotely in the narrow range bandwidth Connections and how to install: Transmitter, repeater and receiver devices have only two wires that one wire connected to the channel of the pipe and other wire is connected to the ground. Also these devices have internal power supply (internal battery) and do not require power connection. Line connection method: Two output wires from devices are connected one to the ground (through the rod) and the other to the tube (through the existing test points) and the sending mechanism is done via this method. 5 How to work: At the point where we want to transfer information, the sender is installed and for the rest of the path, a repeater is installed according to type, pipe material and soil (5 to 50 km) and also a receiver device is installed at the destination that this receiver is connected to a computer (server) and displays the transferred data. Block Diagram: The PLT system is produced in two general branches: ON LINE OFF LINE The system has battery and internal memory and is capable of scheduling time. the function of this system is that it is configured before it is installed and it can be defined at what time the data should be transferred. The system has an internal battery for power supply for 3 to 5 years. This device has a physical protection level of IP67 and it is buried under the soil. The system is designed for permanent operation and does not have the ability to bury under the soil and is generally used at stations. 5
