M 4 1,2,3,4 Vel Tech High Tech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College, TamilNadu, India 3 sugavanamkr@gmail.com Abstract: This paper presents a model to save the person from death due to suffocation in the land slide affected areas. This model consists of two sensors- Oxygen sensor and Vibration sensor. The oxygen sensor is used to monitor the level of the oxygen. When the oxygen content becomes insufficient the operation of oxygen tank is triggered automatically. The vibration sensor is used to identify the presence of life under the earth. When the level of vibration exceeds a certain value a driller or the piston in the system either drills or pushes the mud in the particular spot. The vibration sensor in the system is also used to detect the happening of landslide in beforehand. Oxygen is pumped through the hole which prevents the death of the people. In addition, provision for alerting purpose is also provided to alert the people outside. The alert is given through wireless alerting systems. An android mobile is used for the purpose of watching the on goings inside earth using a computer. The system also uses the hydro jetting principle to flush out the mud on the upper surface. Here in this system we are using Zigbee technique. The zigbee technique is also used to alert the people on beforehand. Keywords: GPR, Zigbee, Piston, Driller. 1. Introduction Thousands of people killed as a cause of earthquake and landslides. Landslide is collapse of mass of earth or rock from the mountain cliffs. Landslide is a natural disaster which may lead to loss of life and also economic resources. It is also known as land slips. It is frequent in hilly, sloppy and mountainous region. Earthquake is a sudden violent shaking of the ground, typically causing great destruction, as a result of movements within the earth's crust or volcanic action. It is the shaking of the surface of the earth. The proposed system can be used to detect, alert and prevents the death caused due to landslides and earthquake. Most of the victims are dead due to suffocation and trapping under the rubbles. Suffocation is caused due to unavailability of oxygen. During landslides it is hard to find the victims trapped under the earth. The same case happens with earthquake too. Here in this system we have the provision to find the trapped victims underground and also under the rubbles. 2. Details Experimental 2.1. Materials and Procedures The objective of the system is to predict and alert the people about the disaster in prior. This system is also used to detect the presence of human and also to save the human from death. The system consists of an acceleration sensor, vibration sensor, Rain sensor, Humidity sensor, oxygen sensor, Microwave Doppler radar sensor, GSM interfaced mobile, Zigbee, Wireless alert system, Microcontroller, LCD Display, Buzzer, Piston and Drill Rig. Acceleration sensor: It is used to calculate the angle of the slope of the land. Vibration sensor: It is used to check for critical vibrational values. Rain sensor: It is used to sense the level of the water table of the land in the case of heavy rainfall which may lead to landslide. Humidity sensor: It is used to sense the moisture content of the land. Oxygen sensor: It is used to monitor the oxygen level in the earth pit. This is used to prevent the death caused due to suffocation caused in the earth pit. Microwave Doppler Radar Sensor: It is used to sense the presence of human subjects under the earth or rubbles. The microwaves can penetrate through soil and rubbles and the same is reflected by lungs and heart. It can sense upto 9m of distance under the ruubble. GSM Interfaced Mobile: It is used to alert the person through a text message using GSM technology. Zigbee: It is used to send signal to the wireless alert system in case of emergency. This is used to eliminate the line-of-sight problem. Wireless alert system: This system is used to alert the people in critical conditions. This system receives the signals from the microcontroller through Zigbee technique. Microcontroller: The microcontroller used here is PIC18F877A. It is used to control all the other devices in the system. PIC microcontroller is used since it is easy to implement the program and to connect peripheral devices. LCD Display: The values from the sensors are displayed on the LCD screen for monitoring purpose. Buzzer: The buzzer is used to alert the people for the presence of human subjects. 293

2 Piston: It is used to move the top soil and the rubbles on the top earth. This facilitates the better sensing by Microwave Doppler Radar Sensor for human subjects. Drill Rig: It is used to drill hole to provide oxygen supply to the people in the earth only if human subjects were found. 3. Proposed system The figure 1 display the block diagram of proposed system the entire module and its operation is divided into two section one concentrate in monitoring the situation and altering and another focus in rescue operation to prevent loss of life. For both a section role of microcontroller is indispensable it act as the brain of the entire system it receive the physical parameter as the input and analysis the condition. As per the situation it decide whether to imitate the alter system or rescue system. abnormalities are found in the values then a alert message is sent to GSM interfaced mobile and an alert is given to a wireless alert system through Zigbee technique. The figure 2 visualizes the command flow in monitoring the situation and the action to be taken as per the condition. Figure. 2. Flow chart of prediction and alerting system 5. Prevention of Death After the occurrence of the disaster, the system can be used to detect the presence of the human subjects under the rubbles or earth using microwave Doppler radar sensor. At once the evidence for human subject is found, a buzzer alert is given. Then the drill rig in the system drills a hole inside the earth through which oxygen can be pumped in for the survival of the person through auto gas sprayer. The figure 3 display step involves in the rescue system, two decisions has to be taken regarding the rescue operation based on two conditions first one whether humans are trapped, second at what depth they are trapped. Prediction and Alerting The acceleration sensor, vibration sensor, humidity sensor and rain sensor are used to predict the occurrence of landslides and earthquake. If any 294

Implementation and Discussion of Result The figure 4 exhibit the simulation work carried out using proteus software as the result satisfied requirement implementation hardware is carried out 7. Conclusion and Future Scope Reliability and robustness of the system assures its application in many crucial situation such as rescue operation of natural disaster like land slide, earthquake etc., It also can be employable in underground excavation works, mines and used to clean household drainage systems and municipal sewage systems.
