2 INTRODUCTION All information contained herein this document is to be used as a guide for the installation and setup of the ImageNet tm Capture Area. This document should provide you with enough information to complete the pre-installation of all needed components prior to ID Networks, Inc. arrival. DOCUMATION REQUIREMENTS Please provide the following documentation to ID Networks, Inc. prior to pre-installation. Digital photographs of proposed ImageNet tm Capture Area Floor plan or diagram of proposed ImageNet tm Capture Area IT personnel for CAT 5 and other LAN requirements Maintenance contact Point of contact if other then Live Scan coordinator NETWORK WIRING There needs to be a data network jack in the proximity of the camera workstation, in order to connect to your network file server. It should be Category Five Twisted Pair with an RJ45 jack. The photo capture station will contain a network card, if provided by ID Networks. ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS ( Amp fuse) Volts AC, with IG - isolated ground circuit, along with a highquality PC Workstation surge strip, containing 6 GROUNDED OUTLETS. The electrical outlet FOR THE SURGE STRIP should be within 6-8 foot of the PC workstation. IMAGENET tm CAPTURE PC WORKSTATION If the PC is provided by ID Networks, the capture station PC will consist of a standard mid-tower case, unless otherwise specified at the time of ordering. This PC should be placed up off the ground at least 3-4 and be kept clean of dust or debris. A 17 monitor or touch screen monitor (if purchased) will be placed near the PC, in a comfortable viewing position, allowing for the person capturing photos to view the monitor and the person being photographed at the same time. The monitor must be within 5 of the PC case. Page 2 of 7

3 BACKDROP INSTALLATION The backdrop behind the person being photographed, should be a FLAT smooth, non reflective surface, such as a smooth 3/4 inch piece of plywood, painted 18% gray, with a flat paint finish (Non glossy / non satin). The 18% Grey paint will be provided with the lighting kit. No height indicators should be used. The backboard should be a 4'x8' standard Plywood sheet. If you have a smooth surface wall (not concrete block walls), you may just paint the wall. A PRIMER SHOULD BE USED PRIOR TO the 2 COATS OF GREY PAINT BEING APPLIED. A quart of gray paint (enough to complete 2 coats) is provided by IDN. In the event an adequate backdrop area cannot be obtained, a pull down screen can be used. The screen mounts from the ceiling and can be painted with the supplied paint. CAMERA INSTALLATION RECOMMENDATIONS Our high-quality color camera will have up to 20 feet of video cable between the back of the computer and the camera. (Taking into consideration the wire being pulled will have to run along the floor, walls or ceiling). It will also have a power transformer that will have a 20-foot small-diameter cable for power to the camera. This transformer will have to have an AC 120-volt electrical source from anywhere that is convenient, but surge protected. Lack of surge protection will void the warranty. The camera lens ideally needs to be within 5 to 8 of the subject s face. The person being photographed should stand a minimum of 2 (wall to heel of shoes) from the 18% gray background to minimize potential shadowing. (See Installation Diagram) CAMERA MOUNT SELECTION RECOMMENDATIONS Our system comes with your choice of camera mounts. Wall Mount or Counter Top Mount. The Camera Mount should be within 15 feet from the backdrop. An infrared remote control is used to adjust the camera pan / tilt & zoom in addition to the software controls used in ImageNet tm. The range on the infrared remote control is approximately feet. The wall mount should be placed approximately 5 6 from the floor to the bottom of the wall mount. The mount must be placed so that the camera lens will point directly toward the middle of the painted surface (in the middle of the 4 x 8 board). Page 3 of 7

4 The countertop pole mount is the second choice. The pole mount needs to be mounted on a flat counter top centered directly in the middle of the 18% gray backdrop. The Countertop mount base is 4 in diameter, requires 4 bolts which are at least ½ longer than the thickness of your countertop. The mount base should be placed at least 4 from the outside edge of the countertop. LIGHTING SYSTEM RECOMMENDATIONS The standard light fixture, which is provided, contains two 300-watt bulbs on a 7-foot ceiling track, with one bulb on each side. A third bulb can be installed for 3-point lighting, if desired. The ceiling track is supplied as two 3.5-foot sections and may be cut down to a smaller length if necessary. A face plate, track connectors, and a 1000-watt dimmer switch are also included. The Ceiling can be a typical drop ceiling or cement ceiling. The track lights weigh approximately 6-8 pounds after assembly. The Track Light lighting fixture is mounted from the ceiling or back wall at approximately 7-foot from the floor in order to provide effective light on the subject s face. After you have installed the camera mount, the ceiling track light can be installed. Ideally, the lights should be installed so that the center of the track lighting fixture is centered and placed directly over the camera. However, with a wall mounted camera this is not always possible. Make certain that the lighting track is centered with the 4 x 8 backdrop with all camera mounts. The Light fixture bulbs should be mounted at a 45-degree angle for the left and right fixture, inwards towards the backdrop, in order to reduce background shadows around the subject. Page 4 of 7

5 ID Networks provides a dimmer switch for control of the ceiling mount track lights, which are directed at the subject. Your electrician needs to mount this dimmer switch in close proximity to the capture station operator or wherever is deemed convenient. Since lighting is so important to achieve successful photos, give due consideration to the final placement, in order to provide the proper angle and enough light directly on to the subject s face. (See Installation Diagram) CONNECTIVITY FOR REMOTE SUPPORT ID Networks requires Phone Line or LAN access, for remote support of your photo capture station. The phone line can be used for other purposes, but must be available to the workstation when dial up remote support is needed. The Phone line must be capable of supporting data transmission over a standard 56K modem. SAFETY & ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS Due to the heat and direct lighting generated by the track lighting, do not allow subjects to directly come in contact with or look directly into the bulbs. Also, use caution in designing your work area to safeguard the system from any violent subjects, perhaps Plexiglas, in order to protect your equipment. Any such damages, other than normal wear and tear, are not covered under our service agreement; therefore your organization should provide insurance coverage for such conditions.
