2 1.1 nlight Hardware Components The LightFlex tunable-white LED is made up of the following nlight components see additional descriptions for each product below: OPTIONAL

3 nes ADCX LFT this is an open loop photosensor located in the LightFlex tube used to read sunlight. This photosensor broadcasts on two nlight photocell channels by default: Photocell Channel 1: Used for providing open loop intensity dimming control of the luminaire Photocell Channel 2: Used for providing open loop open/close control of the louver NOTE: If multiple LightFlex tubes are in the space, therefore multiple nes ADCX LFT devices, one photocell will operate as the master (i.e. the unit with the lowest nlight serial ID). For uniform control of all LightFlex tube louvers and luminaires, it is recommended to choose the nes ADCX LFT from the most centrally located LightFlex, and disable all other nes ADCX LFT from broadcasting. nsp5 2P LFT this is 2-pole relay device used to control the louver open/close based on nlight photosensor and (optionally) switch commands. Control of the louver is completed through line voltage control of the louver control motor. This louver control devices tracks the following channels by default: Switch Channel 3: This provides switch control of the louver with the npodm SW3 OCB by default, or other nlight switches if programmed accordingly Photocell Channel 2: Used for opening/closing the louver based on nes ADCX LFT reading Occupancy Channel 1: No occupancy sensors are provided by default, but introducing an occupancy sensor will provide open/close control nps 80 this is an nlight power supply used to provide bus power to all nlight devices listed here. nio EZDL CCT LFT this device provides a connection to the EldoLED driver to control the luminaire intensity and correlated color temperature (CCT). CAT5 3 total pre-terminated CAT5e cables are provided for connection between the following nlight devices: nes ADCX LFT and nsp5 2P LFT (length of cable provided will depend on tube length) nsp5 2P LFT and nps 80 nps 80 and nio EZDL CCT LFT CAT5 1FT Y J1 1 foot 1-male to 2-female CAT5 Y splitter. This would typically plug directly into the open port on the nio EZDL CCT LFT and allow for the LightFlex to be in the middle of the nlight daisychain Optional Items (sold separately): npodm SW3 OCB this is a standard nlight on/off WallPod with factory default programming to broadcast on switch channel 3 for plug-n-play control of the louver. Additionally, the factory pad printing reads OPEN and CLOSE to display to the user that this control is used for opening/closing the louver.

4 npodm 2P DX CCT this is a standard nlight wallpod used to control the LightFlex luminaire. Pole 1 of the switch, marked by ON/OFF and up/down arrows, broadcasts on switch channel 1 and is used to control luminaire LED intensity. Pole 2 of the switch, marked by CCT and up/down arrows, broadcasts on switch channel 2 and is used to control luminaire correlated color temperature (CCT) intensity. 1.2 Available SensorView Settings, Factory Defaults The following are default nlight broadcasting and tracking channels with the LightFlex solution, including optional npodm 2P DX CCT and npodm SW3 OCB:

5 The NEW settings that were introduced with the LightFlex solution, or changes to traditional default device settings, are the following: nes ADCX LFT: NOTE: Open loop photocell operation is shown graphically below Input High Trim (LED 100% Follow Photocell Level): Foot-candle level in the shaft in which the LEDs will begin dimming down from 100%. Default = 500FC Input Middle Trim (LED 50% Follow Photocell Level): Foot-candle level in the shaft in which the LEDs will be dimmed to 50%. Default = 1200FC Input Low Trim (LED 1% Follow Photocell Level): Foot-candle level in the shaft in which the LEDs will be full dim at 1%. Default = 2000FC Input Deadband Trim (LED Inhibit Offset): Offset (deadband) above Input Low Trim before Photocell Transition Off timer begins. Default = 50FC Morning Sun Inhibit (Louver Inhibit): Foot-candle level in shaft in which the Louver Transitions from Full Open to Full Close (Evening) or Full Close to Full Open (Morning) nsp5 2P LFT: Switch Tracking Channel: This is set to channel 3 by default, to track the npodm SW3 OCB. Photocell Tracking Channel: This is set to channel 2 by default, to track the second pole of the nes ADCX LFT. nio EZDL CCT LFT: Follow Photocell Mode: This is typically disabled by default, but in order to respond to the photosensor, this is now set to Enabled Both Positive and Negative by default. WallPod Dimming Adjustments: This is typically set to Permanent by default, but for the LightFlex solution it is set to Temporary Override. Under Temporary Override, any dimming wallpod command will temporary disable the LEDs from following the photosensor dimming commands until the lights are cycled by switch or occupancy sensor (upon which they will return to following the photosensor). Color Temperature Percent: The default color temperature is set to 25%, which is ~3600K npodm SW3 OCB: Switch Broadcasting Channel: This is set to channel 3 by default, to control the nsp5 2P LVR by default. npodm 2P DX CCT: The default settings on this device match that of a typical npodm 2P DX.

6 1.3 Device Operation The intended out-of-box operation of the LightFlex tunable white LED is the following: NOTES: If multiple LightFlex tubes are in the space, therefore multiple nes ADCX LFT devices, one photocell will operate as the master (i.e. the unit with the lowest nlight serial ID). For uniform control of all LightFlex tube louvers and luminaires, it is recommended to choose the nes ADCX LFT from the most centrally located LightFlex, and disable all other nes ADCX LFT from broadcasting. If individual photocell control of each LightFlex is desired, there is a limit to eight (8) LightFlex tubes in the same nlight daisy-chain. Each LightFlex photosensor broadcasts on two photocell channels, and there are 16 available photocell channels on a local nlight zone. All values shown below in bold are configurable settings. Morning Sequence: o Photosensor Reads 50 FC louver opens, allowing light into the space o Photosensor Reads 500 FC LEDs begin dimming o Photosensor Reads 1200 FC LEDs dimmed to 50% Mid-Day Sequence: o Photosensor Reads 2000 FC LEDs dimmed to 1% o Photosensor Reads 2050 FC (Low Setpoint + Dead-band) LEDs turn off Afternoon Sequence: o Photosensor Reads 2000 FC LEDs turn on to 1% o Photosensor Reads 1200 FC LEDs dimmed to 50% o Photosensor Reads 500 FC LEDs at full bright, 100% o Photosensor Reads 50 FC louver closes, preventing electric light from escaping the space
