Print speeds for high-quality borderless 4R photos and A4 photos for PIXMA MG5170 are approximately 39 seconds and 85 seconds respectively. For PIXMA MP497 and PIXMA MP287, borderless 4R photos can be produced in approximately 41 seconds and 43 seconds respectively, and A4 photos can be completed in approximately 85 seconds. PIXMA MG5270 and PIXMA MG5170 also feature Quick Start capability that allows users to start using the printer in a few seconds after start-up. The printers can be turned off when no longer in use to save energy and help the environment. "Auto Document Fix" Function All five new photo printers feature "Auto Document Fix" function tailored for optimizing quality for scanned documents. It delivers beautiful and easy-to-view scan results with pictures in high color reproduction and sharp and clear text. "Auto Document Fix" function uses area-by-area image analysis and data correction to achieve perfect scan results. Through multiple advanced image analyses and intelligent technologies, such as color composition analysis and intensity undulating analysis, segments among text characters, pictures and background of the original can be distinguished in high accuracy. Area-by-area correction is then applied to the text and picture segments based on the analysis result. Texts are emphasized, blackened and with sharpening edge for easy reading, while the color tone and contrast of pictures are well maintained and natural-looking pictures are reproduced with texture smoothing. In addition, it also reduces the show-through problems in background. Hence the overall quality for scanned documents is enhanced. 3

4 High Performance Scan Function and Bundled Software PIXMA MG5270 and PIXMA MG5170 feature a CIS scanner with maximum optical scanning resolution of 2,400dpi and 1,200dpi respectively for superb scanning quality while maintaining the printer body compact. The two printers only take approximately 17 seconds for scanning an A4 color document at 300dpi. And to allow a more efficient document scanning, scanned PDF/JPEG file can be directly saved into memory card or USB drive, without the hassle of connecting to a computer.
