Binocular Digital LCD Microscope The Daray Vision 200 is a state-of-the-art microscope integrating excellent magnification with a digital LCD display. The product is simple to use with a large display and imagecapture facility. Vision 200 s versatility gives it applications in fields such as microelectronics, production, education and research and development in areas including instrumentation, jewellery/ornaments, biology, agriculture, forestry, forensic laboratories, and many medical arenas. It is especially useful in the PCB, FPC inspection, electronic component and device inspection areas. 4

INSTALLATION OF BINOCULAR DIGITAL LCD MICROSCOPE Carefully remove the base unit and head inserting the head into the upright column a b c a. The dove-tail groove on base unit b. Connect the dove-tail groove together Warning: During installation, do not touch the surface of the optical parts and the surface of LCD screen directly - the image quality may be affected if the optical parts are marked by finger-prints or grease. For cleaning the surface of optical kits and LCD screen, use alcohol and a lint-free cloth. 5

6 4. APPLICATION OF BINOCULAR DIGITAL LIQUID CRYSTAL MICROSCOPE 4.1 Turning On Plug the small output plug from the power supply adapter into the socket on the side of the LCD section of the microscope, insert the mains plug into a socket and turn the mains supply on. Turn the master power switch ON from the front display. The LED ring light will illuminate and the LCD display screen will power up and say welcome. The light source is a ring of LED s divided into 4 sectors enabling adjustment of the light s direction and brightness. The ring light consumes very little power, but gives high brightness and a long working life. A bed light-source is optional. 6

8 4.4 Adjustment and Operation Eyepiece spacing: Move the eye pieces closer or further apart from each other to alter the spacing between them. Individual eyepiece focus: Rotate the ring on each eyepiece to offset any difference in their focus. Operating distance and focal length: Rotate the adjusting knob to move the microscope body up or down and adjust the focus. The tightness of the movement can be adjusted by moving both left and right wheel against each other. This can be set to suit the user s requirements. ROTATE Magnification: Rotate the zoom control to vary the magnification. Magnification ranges can be changed by replacing the eyepieces or object lens with different versions. Adjustment of the optical magnification 16X to 114X is controlled by rotating the variable power control. 8

9 4.5 Illumination Control The brightness of the LED ring light may be increased or decreased using the - and + buttons. The light control keys; are used to turn on and off the four corresponding segments of the LED ring light. If the light reflection from the object is too intense, the user can install an optional diffused glass cover over the LED ring lamp. 10 4.7 How to Measure Object Size The micro-ruler is calibrated with precise graduations in 3 scales, i.e. 0.1mm, 0.01mm and 0.05mm respectively. Prior to measuring an object, select a grid style. Then select a micro-ruler scale. Focus the object then estimate the separation of the co-ordinate or lattices by comparing the separation of coordinate or lattice with the distance of the standard graduation. Without changing magnification, focus on the object. Estimate the length or size of area for the object with the separation of the coordinate or lattice. 10

11 4.8 Selection of Function Menu Use the function menu to select the following functions via the right/left keys: a. Photo mode b. Image setting c. Image size. d. Date and time e. TV out f. Frequency g. Choice menu language MENU Use up/down key to choose each item, press a. Photo mode / Video Mode You can select single photo or video capture. Select single photo at the photo mode menu and press the photo button. The microscope will take a photo. At the photo mode menu and select the video 320x240, press the photo button to start AVI video recording. Press the photo button once more to stop the AVI video recording. b. Image setting Choose auto or exposure. Exposure time can be between - 1.5s and +1.5s c. Image size Choose different resolutions 11

12 d. Date and time Set the day, month, year, hour, minute and second. The up/down, right/left and centre button may be used to set up the current date and time. Exit from the setting after confirming the date and the time. The time record on/off: after selecting Time record on and confirm, the present date and time will be indicated on the lower right corner of the photo. Select Time record OFF to turn off the time recording on the photo taken. e. TV out Choose NTSC or PAL f. Frequency Choose 50Hz or 60Hz g. Language. Set the user-interface language here 12

13 MENU 4.9 Digital Zoom Function Menu When the system is in real-time view mode, press the up/down keys to digitally zoom the image from 1.0X to 4.0X. The digital zoom function can help you get a clearer view Photo Capture and Photo Management Select single photo in photo mode menu and press the take photo button, the system will save a photo. In the photo mode menu select the video 320x240, press the take photo button to start AVI video capture. Press the take photo button again to stop the AVI video recording. When the SD/MMC card memory is full, the system will show Memory is full. Press for image playback In image playback mode you can delete individual images or delete them all. You can transfer the images to a computer via USB. In image playback mode using the function menu, you can do the following: a b c a. Delete images b. Protect the images from deletion button. c. 14 d e f d. Choose menu language e. f. Whilst digitally zooming the image from 1.0X to 4.0X, press the screen data display button. PAN will be displayed in the top left corner. 15 4.12 USB Data Communication When the system is in image playback mode, use the USB connection to transfer data to the computer. When the system is in real-time mode, use the USB connection the computer, to view the image in real-time on your computer. Preview Acamp Software Choose the camera; select the Use computer to view the image format of the image to view the image. Included is a CD-ROM containing software for image capture and drivers for the VISION 200. It is recommended to install the software & then the drivers. 15

16 4.13 Image View A better image may be achieved on a TV or TV monitor set via the AV output since there is limit of pixels on the LCD screen (640x480). Similarly, the pixels of photo taken with the microscope may reach 2048x1536, and the image will be clearer under photo playback mode or when observing photo from the computer after transmission. 5. MAINTENANCE To ensure the microscope s long-term performance, please cover the unit when not in use with its dust cover, keep the unit out of humid environments, and ensure all lenses are grease, fingerprint and dust free, cleaning with alcohol wipes. The product is designed for use indoors, with an operational humidity of 30% - 80% and operational temperature of 0 C - 40 C. Optical Section The lens should be stored in a dry environment and should be placed in its container with silica gel sachet when not in use. If the surface of a lens is dusty or greasy use only alcohol solution to clean, do not clean with a dry cloth as lens surface could be scratched. Do not use other solvents or water. LCD Screen Heavy pressure on the surface of the LCD screen may permanently damage it. Use only LCD screen cleaning solutions. 16

19 WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF WARRANTY 1. To qualify for this warranty you must register on or return to Daray Ltd (Daray) the duly completed warranty-registration form accompanying the product. 2. Daray warrants this product (excluding lamp) against faulty material and workmanship during the period of the warranty. The period of warranty is the period stated on your warranty card and commences on the date of purchase of the product. In the event that the product is not in good working order Daray will provide, during the warranty period, a free repair service within the United Kingdom. The warranty is subject to proof of purchase being provided; therefore, you should retain your original receipt. 2.1 The repair service consists of the provision of spare parts and/or replacement products (at Daray s discretion) which will be provided on an exchange basis and will either be new, equivalent to new or reconditioned. All replaced spare parts and products shall become the property of Daray. 2.2 Daray s only obligation under this warranty is the provision of the service as set out above. 2.3 All products are returned to Daray at the customer s cost and risk. Failure to use or install the product in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions. 5. Nothing in this warranty shall have the effect of restricting or excluding the liability of Daray in respect of: a) Death and personal injury caused by the negligence of Daray, or for fraud; b) Under the Consumer Protection Act 1987 to a person who has suffered damage caused by a defective product or to a dependant or relative of such a person; c) Direct damage to your property caused by the proven negligence of Daray. 6. This agreement does not give any rights other than those expressly set out above and in particular, Daray will not be responsible for any loss of income, profits or contracts or any direct or indirect consequential loss, damage caused to or suffered by the purchaser as a direct result of this agreement. 7. This warranty is offered (subject to these terms and conditions) in addition to, and does not affect your statutory rights. 8. Daray may disclose your details and other personal information to companies within the Daray group including any subsidiary company or sub contractor of Daray for the purposes of performing our obligations hereunder. 9. You must not resell outside the UK any products supplied by Daray and covered by the Export of Goods (Control) Order 1992 (or any law that replaces it) with out obtaining all necessary licences. You also agree not to sell the product in the UK if you know or think that the person buying the product intends to export it without getting the necessary licences.
