CHAPTER 2 NOTES Chapter 2 Level 1 Page 83 o Open the file Chapter 2 Level 1 and save it as QC Analysis. o In cell H3, enter the formula =ROUND(G3,2) o Copy that formula down through H4:H31 o Set the format of cells H3:H31 to number with 2 decimals or use the Comma formatting Either select all the cells before setting the formatting OR Set the formatting in cell H3, select cell H3, select the Format Painter button, select cells H4:H31 o Select the values in H3:H31, and copy them o Select cell G3 o Select Paste Special, or the drop down arrow for the Paste button, and select the Paste Values and Number Formats option o Delete the numbers in Row H Page 93 o In cell A33 enter Mean see figure 2.9 on page 94 to enter the rest of the text. o In cell F33, enter the formula =AVERAGE(F3:F31) See page 93 to enter the rest of the formulas as shown o Format those formulas with the Comma format o Copy those formulas into column G Page 95 o Select cell A3, go to the View Tab, click on the Freeze Panes drop down and select the Freeze Panes option Page 98 o In cell C4, enter the formula that will pull the value for the Mean of the Friction Coefficient on the Current Tab. o Either by copying or manually entering the formulas, complete the formulas for Median, Mode and Standard Deviation. o Complete the formulas for the Torsion Strength data. (See Figure 2.12) o Enter the formula to calculate the difference for both sets of data. o Using the formula from the middle of page 99, calculate the % Difference Save the file for submitting to Moodle at the end of Chapter 2.

Chapter 2 Level 2 Page 102 o Open the file Chapter 2 Level 2 and save it as QC Analysis2 o Select cells A3:A31, then click on the Quick Analysis button. When the gallery opens, select the Totals tab then the Count option. o Using the same procedure, calculate the average for columns F & G, and the total for column H. o Add the labels for those calculations on row 33 as shown in Figure Page 105 o Calculate the rank of the value in F3, compared to the rest of the values in column F =RANK.EQ(F3,F$3:F$31,1) Copy that formula through F31 o Calculate the rank of the value in G3, using the same method/formula above o Add the column headings and borders as shown in Figure 2.19 Page 107 o Click on the HighLow tab o Using the formula shown in the middle of page 108, calculate the 5 highest Friction Coefficients and Torsion Strength =LARGE(Current!F$3:F$31,$A4) o Using the SMALL function, calculate the 5 lowest values for Friction Coefficients and Torsion Strength. Page 111 o Select the CountIfExamples o Using the formulas shown on page 112 Figure 2.23, determine the number of items in the list for each of the criteria in rows Page 115 o Select the Current tab o In cells F35 and G35, using the CountIf function, calculate the number of items that will be rejected based on the criteria described on page115. See Figure 2.24 Page 116 o Delete the data in the cells that don t meet the criteria explained on page 117 o In cell H35, calculate the cost of the rejected skis using the formulas shown on page 119 Save the file for submitting to Moodle at the end of Chapter 2.

Chapter 2 Level 3 Page 123 o Open the file Chapter 2 Level 3 and save it as QC Analysis3. o Apply the cell formatting in E2. See figure 2.29 o Enter the formula to calculate the cost to inspect the skis in cell E4, then copy to the rest of the column. o Edit the formatting in cell E10 to replace the with a 0. See the middle paragraph on page 129. Page 129 o Enter the text and formulas to calculate the Total, Average, and Standard Deviation for each column. See Figure 2.33 o Format those calculations as shown in Figure 2.33 Page 132 o On the Data tab, select the What-If Analysis drop down, then the Goal Seek option o Using the Goal Seek tool, determine what cell E2 would have to be to make cell E15 equal $225. See figure 2.35 o Set cell E2 back to $35 Page 135 o Select the SkiType Worksheet tab o Using the COUNTIF function shown, calculate the Quantity of skis tested for Style A and copy that formula down for Styles E and R o Using the AVERAGEIF function shown, calculate the Average Friction Test Time for Style A skis. Copy that formula down for Styles E and R, then copy that formula across for Average Torsion Test Time and Average Cost After copying the formulas, you may need to replace the Thick Outside Border around then entire data set A1:E5. Page 138 o Select the Simulation Worksheet tab o In cell A3, using the RANDBETWEEN function, enter a formula that will generate a random number between 1 and 3. Copy that formula through the rest of the cells in Column A. o In cells B3 and C3, using the RAND function, enter a formula that will generate a random number for Return Costs and Probability of Failure. See formulas on page 140. Copy those formulas down through the rest of columns B & C. o In cell H5, using the SUMIF function, enter a formula that will calculate the sum of Probable Costs for all the Style 1 options. Be sure to include the absolute references ($), so that the formula can be copied to cells H6 and H7. o In cell H8, using the SUM function or, calculate the total Simulated Probable Costs. Compare that to the Average cost of Returned Skis shown in cell H3. Save and submit all 3 files to Chapter 2 In Class Work in Moodle 10 Points

Chapter 2 Homework Steps to Success: Level 1 20 Points Page 101 Steps 1-5 should result in something like this. Your answers may vary by a tenth either way based on differences in computer rounding. Step 5 do not create a new worksheet, just a new tab named Compare. Step 10 Use any shading/borders/etc. to format as you wish. Again, results may vary by a fraction either way.

Steps to Success: Level 2 20 Points Page 121 Steps 3 & 4 See Table 2.8 on page 113 to help with these formulas

Steps to Success: Level 3 20 Points Page 143 Steps 1-3 Step 4 Set up the table as shown in Table Apply any formatting you wish to make it easier to read. Use COUNTIF and AVERAGEIF for the data in the table. Step 5 -Set up the column headings as shown in Table 2.14 Make sure you include 100 data points (rows 2-102)

Refer to the first paragraph on page 143 for your data range and page 141 for the formulas. Cells B3 and D3 should have $ formatting. The rest of columns B and D should not have $, but should have 2 decimal places, as it is a dollar amount being calculated. Step 6 Go to the formula tab, use the Calculate Now feature to randomly generate new numbers. Keep track of this for 5 tries. Step 7 Compare values from testing in Step 6 to the Total Average Cost on the TypeSummary tab Step 8 Change the hourly rate on the InspectionCosts tab. Compare new value of Total Average Cost to the previous value. Step 9 Use the What-If Analysis tool calculate what hourly rate would be needed to make the Total Average Cost on the TypeSummary tab equal $ Note that your numbers will not match the example shown, as everyone is using the Random feature. The solution is shown for formatting purposes.

Working Towards the Final 20 Points Building on your Chapter 1 workbook,(if you can) create an excel workbook that you will use to solve a problem (at work or home). Your Excel Workbook must have the following Operations/ Formulas o Find (Mean, Median, and Mode) o If statement o Rounding formulas o Use Absolute Cell Reference in your workbook o Freeze (top row or left column) o Use Paste Special to Link Data (From One Sheet to Another)

Try what you learned (and some new things too)
