Mr Bansbach made the life of Berliners easier with his simple, affordable battery charger, thereby illuminating a dark period in history. He firmly believed in the social and cultural significance of light, something which went far beyond the

In this way we changed our name from Semperlux to Selux signalling the transformation of a Berlin artisan's workshop into a company with 500 dedicated staff and sites in Europe, North America and throughout the world.

The Kju light is extremely high-power yet homogenous and glare free. This is because its specially developed layer of lenses ensures highly uniform distribution of LED light spots across the entire luminaire. Its light exit continues onto the vertical front surfaces, providing the luminaire with maximum light volume despite the minimal construction height. With its microprism diffuser, the Kju meets the highest anti-glare requirements for offices and other workplaces, while the opal diffuser version ensures efficient, homogenous general lighting.

Its minimal design height of just 18 mm (viewed from the side) makes it genuinely eye catching. This is achieved by integrating its extremely flat converter into the luminaire housing. Multilayer microprism lens optics by Selux enable the luminaire to cater for all office and workplace lighting needs. With recessed, surface and pendant versions in three profile sizes (36, 60 and 100 mm), the M Modular LED is designed for universal use. Suitable either as a single luminaire or continuous lines of light, the versa tility of the M Modular LEDs optics covers a wide range of lighting technology applications. The light from the individual LED is emitted at the side via double parabolic reflector surfaces and guided in the direction of the primary light. Clear diffusers with slide-in microprisms provide a brilliant and clean effect. The result is premium-quality glare control that conforms to all industry standards and fully utilizes flux optimisation. Diffusers Opal diffusers are LED optimised and highly homogenous. Satiné diffusers (PMMA) are provided for high efficiency. Light Modulating Optics (LMO) LMO cut from solid profile enable precision light control with the visual effect of an uninterrupted line of light. LMO wallwashers allow for the minimum distances between the wall and luminaires (only 0.4 m) at maximum uniformity up to a height of 3 m. With an output of up to 75 lm/w, LMO wallwashers present a maximum efficiency lighting solution.

102 101 M Modular My White A new light quality to individualise your spatial installations M Modular LED My White luminaires are digitally controllable within a colour temperature range from 2700 to 6500 Kelvins which means they can be modified to the light colour of your choice and desired light mood. This flexibility allows reference to variables in design and surroundings, enabling individual interpretations of the influences of daylight and the seasons. Various light colours can be used for optically zoning architecture, creating perception hierarchies, emphasising key elements, highlighting materials and accentuating colours. Controller (Netcomposer) With Selux Netcomposer, all My White luminaires can be infinitely dimmed and controlled within a range from 2700 to 6500 K as well as being integrated into a digital, network-capable light control system. Intelligent light scene management, timer programmes and the integration of presence and light sensors enable efficient building management, with control via various user interfaces including smartphones. My White Easy Control A standard, commercially available fourway pushbutton (provided by the customer) enables dimming of Selux My White luminaires across 16 levels of brightness and control across 25 colour stages from cold white to warm white. Besides 4-way pushbutton, each fully-functioning unit includes a My White Easy Control package comprising power supply (installed within the luminaire) and control module (integrated into the pushbutton's concealed box). In this way up to eight My White luminaire modules can be dimmed and colour controlled using a push-button.

228 227 Convincing lighting is a matter of technology. Netcomposer is a digital network-compatible light control system with intelligent scene management. The Netcomposer covers most application areas that require reliable and efficient light control. Applications range from classical light management to dynamic architectural lighting (architainment) and real-time LED event installations that have to be controlled by a media server. Programming and control of dynamic and static light scenes are provided via DALI or DMX. Control using interfaces can be performed by normal push-button devices. Possible control interfaces are touch panels, WIFI and smartphones that use our LightingTabApp for Android and ios. Dynamic and static light scenes can be programmed and controlled via DALI or DMX. The Selux Netcomposer can control up to 64 luminaires via DALI or up to 512 channels via DMX. Varying scenes and sequences can be programmed and recalled. A timer and calendar function with astro functionality are also available. The integral xplayer (media player) allows media playback by DMX LED luminaires. Using the LAN version of the Netcomposer, Selux luminaires can also be incorporated into modern building management systems. 234 233 Controls Selux LED luminaires can be switched and dimmed across several interfaces (1-10V, DALI,DMX). Use of intelligent control enables light to be dimmed individually according to customer requirements. This user-oriented dimming option reduces energy consumption and makes a significant contribution to lowering CO ² emissions. DALI control The control by DALI (Digital Adressable Lighting Interface) implements addressing, grouping, dimming in a resolution of 8-bit (254 dimming steps), switch-off using digital commands. Two control leads are necessary in addition to the mains feed. Signal leads should be operated as a galvanically universe isolated from the mains voltage, however DALI is not compatible with SELV (safety extra-low voltage) systems. For installation, cables and connections rated for 230 V must be used. The common stranding of control and mains cables is admitted. Control cables can be connected at any polarity. The standby power is lower than 0.5W. DMX control DMX (Digital Multiplex) is a digital, unidirectional light control protocol. It performs rapid control of LED fittings, dimming, moving heads and media facades. DMX is characterized by rugged wiring and safe data transfer. The DMX operation requires a 3-core XLR cable. The data transmission is polarity dependant. A DMX universe consists in 512 channels. Control is possible in a 8 or 16 bit mode. RDM (Remote Device Management) allows for a bidirectional communication between the device and the control unit. Different error feedbacks or a status report can be implemented. Control by analogue interface 1-10V Dimming by analogue command using linear steps. Switching off by an external relay. Two additional wires are needed in addition to mains feed. The signal leads should be operated as a galvanic universe separated from the mains voltage, but there is no Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) protection. Installation must use cables and connections for 230 V only. The common stranding of control and mains cables is admitted. The control wires have to be connected with the correct polarity +/-. Incorrect polarity will cause malfunction. When ordering a lighting system with a special dimming method, the control cable in general is an integral part of the through wiring. Control via building management systems such as BACnet, KNX,LCN or LON require an interface between control and the lighting system. The dimming system of the electronic transformer is to be determined before order. The dimming of fluorescent lamps or LED requires a control cable. My White Easy Control Selux My White luminaires can be controlled using a 4-fold pushbutton to dim and control 16 dimming steps and 8 colour steps from cold white to warm white. An operative unit to control up to 8 My White modules consists of a 4-fold pushbutton (provided by the customer), an Easy Control power supply (built into a fitting) and an Easy Control (concealed in a box behind the 4-fold pushbutton).

240 239 Manta Rhei Combining cutting-edge OLED technology, elec tronics and control technology, the lighting fixture manufacturer Selux and new media design studio ART+COM have opened a new chapter in professional lighting. Through the interplay of kinetic aesthetics and the dynamics of light a new world of lighting possibilities is now available. Classical fixture typology is expanded through the integration of mechanical movement, and new directions open up for the use of organic light emitting diode technology. Manta Rhei a filigree OLED-based fixture named Manta Rhei silently floating in space while continually changing its appearance. Its 1.2 m x 2.4 m body housing 140 paper-thin Tridonic OLED modules combines light scenes and movement patterns into a series of carefully designed individual choreographies. One such choreography brings to mind the gentle movement of the Manta Rhei. Thanks to the use of custom-built intelligent control technology the overall quantity of light emitted from the fix - ture remains constant.
