8 8 WHAT IS XOOMINAIRE? Design: LED Linear, Dr. Michael Kramer XOOMINAIRE is a narrow slot luminaire family offering various aesthetics and lighting experiences for a contemporary space. XOOMINAIRE provides higher efficiency, homogeneity and qualitative light output than T5 luminaires. A wide range of lumen packages, color temperatures and optics offer an extended linear tool-box for T5 luminaire replacement and an unpreceded freedom for new architectural projects. Having multiple options of fixtures market-wide is useful but having multiple options from a single luminaire family like XOOMINAIRE remains unique. In short, XOOMINAIRE is the perfect symbiosis of a linear architectural luminaire family and unlimited design options, increased uniformity, reduced glare, decreased energy use, quick installation, easy maintenance and low upfront cost. A particular attention has been put on details at every step of the development. Magnetic end caps ensure a tight fit between end caps and luminaire (no light leak) and offer a clean, screwless finish. All housings are made of high quality extruded aluminum with precise mechanical tolerances in order to guarantee a gap free luminaire. The new through cabling concept offers an easier implementation of continuous light lines. Along with the new 90 connector (for XOOMINAIRE 4262 OW only), sharp continuous lines can be made only out of standard solutions. XOOMINAIRE is built to last, particular economic to install, operate and maintain. Snap in optics, lenses and drivers allow for simple and cost effective re-lamping, LED upgrades, future-proof compatibility and easy access to the ballast. Easy to handle quick connects enable quick and hassle free wiring before lifting the fixture into the ceiling even for continuous light line installation. Each luminaire is delivered with the appropriate ballast and mounting accessories in order to relieved architects and lighting designers of this task. Based on all these features and benefits XOOMINAIRE is the optimum choice for many applications, including: libraries, museums and galleries, corridors, offices, reception areas, entertainment and hotels, showrooms and themed venues of all kinds, schools and colleges, clinics and hospitals, laboratories and physician offices, parking garages and covered walkways. LIGHT MEETS LIFE For our different daily visual tasks we need technically good light which pleasantly enhances our lives, without us consciously perceiving it. The modular lamps and optics of the XOOMINAIRE system provide a great feel-good light, whether at home, at work or any other places. AESTHETICS MEETS FUNCTION For us good design does not mean that function has to be subordinated to aesthetics. We want to combine aesthetics and function harmoniously and efficiently through a really good design. We are convinced that with XOOMINAIRE we managed to reach this ambitious aim. ECOLOGY MEETS ECONOMY XOOMINAIRE proves: good design does not need to be expensive. Coupled with easy and fast installation plus maintenance as well as low energy consumption, the fixture is not only very economical, but at the same time also very ecologically worthwhile.

10 10 QUALITY Premium LEDs and production process As trivial as it sounds, a great luminaire starts with a great light source. We, at LED Linear, consider this aspect to be the key to a unique lighting experience. Before the final tape, we carefully select the best LED packages available in terms of quality and reliability. Using our state-of-the-art Reel-to-Reel (R2R) process production line, these LEDs are soldered automatically in a precise manner with numerous in-line inspections. This production process offers LED tapes without stairway-effect between cut-lengths and an improved mechanical stability due to homogeneous flexible material compared to sheet-to-sheet or rigid PCB light modules. Optimal heat dissipation The R2R process enables the use of our proprietary thin substrate technology Tj Away which offers best in class thermal management and, as a consequence, outstanding lifetimes. Indeed, Tj Away substrates embed highly thermally conductive materials at optimized thickness for an excellent heat extraction from the LED to the luminaire housing. This guarantees an extended lifetime of 60,000 hrs L80/B10 (more information at page 91). Clean and screw-less design Aluminum end caps mounted thanks to a magnetic system ensure a clean outter appearance of the luminaire. At the same time it ensure an optimal seal of the casing in order to avoid any light leak.

Thanks to two prelabeled terminal blocks at both ends of the luminaire, the grid as well as the control signal can be cabled through the entire line effortlessly. 91 91 Lumen maintenance according to LM The standard LM Measuring Lumen Maintenance of LED Light Sources provides methods of the measurement of lumen maintenance of LED packages and LED modules. The products shall be tested for at least 6,000 hours with data collection at a minimum of every 1,000 hours. Test must include three case temperatures, recommending nominal case temperatures: 55 C, 85 C and a third temperature which can be freely chosen by the manufacturer and is in our case mostly at 105 C. Depending on the application with corresponding current an additional case temperature is selected. Chromaticity or voltage shift is also reported over the measurement time. 92 92 Life time prediction according to TM Technical & Service Appendix Custom Solutions Standard Solutions The TM standard Projecting Long Term Lumen Maintenance of LED Light Sources provides a calculation tool to interpret the data collected from LM testing. LED Linear provides users with lumen maintenance life projection or to predict estimated lumen output values at a given time duration by interpolating lumen maintenance behaviors for the in-situ temperature which are different from testing temperature. For example the lumen maintenance life projection L80 in hours is estimated when 80% from primarily lumen output is given. Or the predicted lumen maintenance can be calculated within a given life time. LED Linear calculates all lifetime data according to the standard TM and are documented on all data sheets. Do not hesitate to ask for detailed test reports. New Standards in preparation Lumen maintenance according to IES LM-84 This standard provides the method for reproducible measurements of Iumen and color maintenance of LED lamps, light engines and LED luminaires. lt does not provide performance requirements or predictive estimations or extrapolation for Iumen maintenance beyond the Iimits of the Iumen maintenance determined from actual measurements. Life time prediction according to IES TM-28 The typical minimum test duration is 6,000 h. lf at least 6,000 h of LM-84 data are available, a TM-21 like projection based on these data can be used. LM-84 data may be used in conjunction with LM-80 data for the same type of LEDs to reduce the test duration to 3,000 h. Some specification allows 3,000 hour test results to be used for prequalification.

93 93 IES TM-30-15: A BETTER VIEW ON COLOR RENDERING REPORT HYDRA WHITE In May 2015 the Illuminating Engineering Society proposed a new calculation method for the color rendering of LEDs. This new method is described in detail in the technical memorandum IES TM This new method assesses the spectral power distribution (SPD) of white light sources near the Planck locus regarding the color fidelity, color discrimination and color preference. The TM method utilizes 99 color evaluation samples (CES) each represented by a spectral reflectance factor function to quantify the difference in color rendition between the test source and reference source. This allows for an much more differentiated assessment of the color rendering of a light source compared to the CRI method utilizing only 8 reference colors. The introduced Fidelity Index Rf and the Gamut Index Rg characterizing the light source will help our customers to specify our luminaires more easily for certain applications or for projects with given design rules. This report summarizes the findings of the tests conducted on the color rendering of the product family VarioLED Flex HYDRA White SLD3, LD5, LD10, LD15, LD25 and HD6, HD10, HD15, HD25, HD36. The tests and calculation methods are fully compliant with the new IES standard TM The results can be transferred without restrictions of any kind to system luminaires, that are using the HYDRA White tapes as light engine, in particular: VarioLED Flex HYDRA IP67*/VarioLED HYDRA IP67, HYDRALUX *, VarioLED Flex VENUS/ PHOBOS/SKYLLA TV*, VarioLED Flex VENUS/PHOBOS/SKYLLA SV*, ADONIS*/KALYPSO, VarioLED POSEIDON*, VarioLED OCEANOS*, XOOLINE, LYRA, LUNA, XOOLUM */ XOOLUM R, MARS CV/MARS CC, XOOTOO, XOOTUBE 38, VESTA, XOOLIGHT, XOOMINAIRE. The measurements of the spectral power distribution are conducted at 25 C ambient temperature in the photometric laboratory of LED Linear using an absolute calibrated spectrometer BTS256-LED in the integrating Ulbricht sphere ISD-100HF-V01 (both Gigahertz Optik, Germany). The tested CRI 95+ and CRI 85+ LED types used for the HYDRA White products are tested with the following photometric codes: W927, W930, W935, W940, W820, W822, W825, W827, W830, W835, W830, W850. This report is based on calculations processed with the IES TM Advanced Calculation Tool (version 1.01 as of ), provided by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES). * The LED tapes in IP67 products are encapsulated in Polyurethane (PU). This can cause a specific CCT shift of about K into the cold white spectrum along the Planck locus. The PU encapsulation has no impact on the integral index R f and R g.
