2 ABOUT THE COLLECTION In 1983 James R. Borynack helped usher in an age of awareness of Senegalese visual arts in America. The fruits of his cultural mission were shared internationally through a series of exhibitions of Senegalese tapestries at Wally Findlay Galleries worldwide. Here today in the juxtaposition of the natural and raw African art against the modern western imagery of the early to mid 20th century Modernists, the resemblance is strikingly clear. The dialogue of art between cultures speaks a timeless language.
