1 Food for the Soul EMBARKING ON OUR NEXT 10 YEARS N O T E F R O M P A T R I C I A My continuing mission at PCFA is to exhibit exquisite fine art created by professional career artists with the highest levels of creativity and work ethic and to do so in an atmosphere of elegance, beauty and grace. The historic adobe building and our sculpture gardens continue to be an amazing part of our life and our everyday world. The art and our environment continue to inspire those of us who work here everyday as well as all of our valued collectors. In a world where everything gets bigger, I still believe that "Less is More". In an Albuquerque Journal gallery review written August 24th, 2007 the writer states, "Instead of a long roster of artists, PCFA represents only six. As a result, the work of each of the carefully selected contemporary artists receives strong visibility." This is important for the artist as well as the collector. With all of the artists we exhibit, we are their primary gallery, always having the newest and largest selection of work. This offers you the best display to choose from. Entering our eleventh year, we are proud to announce the representation of two new painters: Doug Coffin and Sherman Nobleman. We are also proud of the longevity in representing Jim Alford and Melinda K. Hall, who have been with us since our inception on February 1, Adam Shaw had his fifth straight year with us and has become part of the PCFA family. David Pearson has been the top selling sculptor in Santa Fe for the past three years and is still continuing to amaze all of us with stunning new work. His dedication to his vision and the ethics of the world of bronze are outstanding. In June of 2007, we were honored to install David's bronze sculpture "Une Danse de Reve" at the Governor's Mansion. You'll see on following pages photographs of the exciting event. melinda k hall adamshaw When asked about her work and how she approaches each piece, Hall states, "I have been really trying to broaden my view of what my paintings mean.

" It is no surprise that Shaw has been educated globally, hopping from New York and California to Italy in the process.

I have to remember that first and foremost I am an artist who is looking for the very best way to express myself." It is no surprise that Shaw has been educated globally, hopping from New York and California to Italy in the process. His palette includes a lovely mix of science, medicine, poetics, renaissance, classics, and of course the expansive history of art. Among other accolades, Shaw possesses a Master s degree in poetics, and translates poetry in Latin, Russian, and Italian. There is no doubt that she has found a meaningful medium in which to express herself. Her work is wonderfully exciting and enigmatic. "I'm taking each individual part of a painting and making it interesting, so it integrates with the whole." Someone once asked Hall who had given her permission to paint the way she does. Hall stated, "I just do! This style of mine is not something one gets the 'go-ahead' for, it's just something that comes from the gut, resulting in images and surfaces I am compelled to create." It is not uncommon for Shaw to paint for countless hours, only to remove nearly all of his work at the close of each day, retaining but a sliver of his previous application. For example, one painting results from nearly ten years and over 100 such layers. Over the past several decades of painting, I have gone in many directions, and produced a number of different series. Each new painting may have been a completed painting five times already from previous series, that I just continued to rework. My work continues to be a statement on process, says Shaw. Born in New York City, he has been a painter since memory. A successful day is when I get to paint at home and don t have to go anywhere. Looking at the beauty of the sky and the landscape is one of Alford s greatest joys and pleasures. On some days Alford takes almost 100 photos of the sky. When it s time to create a new painting, he begins the process by perusing dozens of photos and selecting "room of sun" 36"x48" acrylic/canvas 2007 ones that titillate his senses. He manipulates and creates a montage of images that form the basis of a dramatic airbrushed acrylic painting. The sky around Alford s house is big and spacious, and so are his recent paintings. His color palette is particularly vibrant and his imagery, which often includes architectural forms and mountains as well as clouds, is more complex and fascinating that ever before. Alford is a stunning artist who keeps exceeding his past accomplishments. shermannobleman Nobleman is a veteran of the arts, with a 30-plus-year career and a stunning resume. Clearly process oriented, the work reveals immediacy and spontaneity.
