2 2 of 5 Pattern Notes Achernar has several rows of ribbing at both ends of the scarf. The main pattern of the scarf (alternating stretches of Pattern A and Pattern B) flows out of and into these rows of ribbing. This pattern looks best if it is aggressively blocked open to highlight the cables and reduce the fabric's natural tendency to curl. When choosing a substitute yarn, make sure to choose one that can be blocked; yarns with a higher percent of acrylic may not work well for this pattern. Exact gauge for this project is not important. However, be sure to wash and block your swatch before checking gauge. Stitches should be slipped purlwise unless otherwise indicated. Pattern Directions 1. Cast on 43 stitches. Set Up Ribbing 2. (RS) Sl1k, [p1, k1] to the end. 3. (WS) Sl 1p, *k1, p1, k1, p1, m1, k1, p1, k1, p1. Repeat from * until 2 sts remain, k1, p1. 4. Sl1k, then p1, *k1, p1, T2F, T2B, p1, k1, p1.
