3 A. Multiple choice questions. (only one right alternative per question). 2 points per question. Question Alternative 1 Often when a full rib rib fabric is knitted the aim is to get one of the properties below: Which one of the alternatives are right? A Low weight and relatively low elongation in the width. B A very stiff fabric. C A fabric with a high weight. D A fabric easy to iron. E A fabric with high elongation and high elasticity. 2 A circular knitting machine, mini jacquard is equipped with 72 feeders. The structure to be produced is a Three coloured jacquard with birds eye backing. What is the maximum pattern repeat in the height for these settings? A Pattern repeat maximum height is 8 pattern rows. B Pattern repeat maximum height is 16 pattern rows. C Pattern repeat maximum height is 24 pattern rows. D Pattern repeat maximum height is 32 pattern rows. E Pattern repeat maximum height is 42 pattern rows F Pattern repeat maximum height is 72 pattern rows. 3 The structure Half cardigan fabric has a pattern repeat (structure repeat) of: A 2 systems B 4 systems C 5 systems D 6 systems E 8 systems In production of the structure Half Milano rib fabric on a circular knitting machine is the production 384 courses on the cylinder after 16 revolutions (turns of the machine). The machine is equipped with how many feeders? 4 A 24 B 36 C 48 D 72 E 96
4 Question Alternative 5 The structure Terry fabric is often produced of one of the machines below. Which one? A Flat knitting, high & low needle butts B Single jersey machines equipped with plating yarn feeders. C Two needle bed circular machine (double jersey) rib machine with 1 sort of needle. D Two needle bed circular machine (double jersey), Interlock. E Flat knitting machine, electronic machine. 6 Punto di Roma is produced of one of the machines below? A Two bed circular knitting machine with mini jacquard. B Two bed circular knitting machine, interlock. C Two bed circular machine, rib machine. D Flat knitting machine. E One bed circular machine, single jersey. 7 n.p.i in knitting means often, what? A Number of needles in the needle bed per 1 centimetre (cm). B Number of needles in the needle bed per 1 English inch. C Thickness of the needle in centimetre (cm). D Number of loops per square inch. E Number of loops per square centimetre (cm). 8 What are the definition of warp knitting. A A structure that partly consists of tuck loops. B The yarn runs in the horizontal direction of the structure. C The yarn runs in the vertical direction of the structure. D Always produced by latch needles. E Always produced on flat- or circular knitting machines.
5 Question Alternative 9 Plain fabric (single jersey) structure is knitted on a flat knitting machine, what is the characteristic property with this type of structure? A Low elongation and high elasticity B Low elasticity C Low weight D Long loose threads (floatings) on the back side. E Always very heavy fabric. 10 Bird eye backing is a common concept in jacquard technique in knitting. What is meant by "striped backing"? A Striped backing that you get by knitting on every second needle in the rear needle bed. B Spotted backing achieved by knitting on every second needle in the rear needle bed. C No needles at all are used in the rear needle bed. D Backing where you choose to remove some needles. Can also give less weight of the fabric. E Striped backing by knitting on all needles in the rear needle bed. 11 What is the loop density for the structure below? A 10 courses /cm, 8 wales/ cm B 16 courses /cm, 7 wales/cm C 7 courses / cm, 8 wales / cm D 12 wales / cm, 6 courses / cm E 8 wales / cm, 7 courses / cm
6 Question Alternative 12 A Complete garment knitting (Whole Garment) can be done on one of the machine types below. Which one? B Flat knitting machine with one height of the needle butts on the needles. C Flat knitting machine with two heights of the needle butts on the needles. D Circular knitting machine, rib machine. E Electronic flat knitting machine. 13 Fine knitted structures are more often produced on circular knitting machines instead of flat knitting, why? A It is not possible to build that fine gauge machines in flat knitting. B Circular machines have many feeders (knitting systems) and produces more fabrics per hour then flat knitting. C Jacquard knitting is more convenient to handle in circular knitting. D The circular machines are much cheaper in price. E Circular machines are built only for fine knitted structures. 14 Cables in course knitted garments is often manufactured on one of the machines below, which? A Flat knitting machine equipped with one needle butt height. B Flat knitting machine equipped with high and low butt needles. C Circular knitting machine, single bed. D Electronic flat knitting machine. E Circular knitting machine, double bed, interlock 15 To have tuck loops in a structure instead of knitted loops gives the following characteristic properties of the fabric: A A thin fabric. B A thick fabric. C A fabric with a high gauge. D Low elongation and low elasticity. E High elongation and low elasticity.
