No ) ECO Pending Standard and Heated Conical Antenna s for Cablewave Microwave Antennas These instructions apply to the installation of standard and heated conical style radomes on Cablewave Systems 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12 foot microwave parabolic antennas. Standard four through twelve foot antenna radomes are constructed of molded fiberglass material. Two foot radomes are made from molded ABS material. Ten and twelve foot radomes are sectionalized when shipped, then assembled in the field. One piece standard radomes (2, 4, 6, & 8 foot) are shipped ready for assembly to the antenna reflector. Heated radomes have an electrical element molded into the radome in a configuration to minimize pattern distortion. The heating element is thermostatically controlled to turn on during the critical freezing range between +33 o F (+6 o C) and +23 o F (-5 o C). w/heating elements, control box and thermostat are included. Electrical conduit is not supplied. Recommend use of water tight 3/4" conduit pipe and 10 AWG - red, white, black, blue and green wires to handle required radome current load. Note! It is important that these instructions be read completely and thoroughly before attempting to install the radome on the antenna. NEC and Local electrical codes and wire procedures must be followed, including any preliminary site wiring necessary before proceeding with the radome installation.

2 2, 4, 6, & 8 ft Installation Tools Required 7/16" Socket Wrench, 7/16" Box Wrench, One piece standard radomes are shipped ready for assembly to the antenna reflector. Heated versions of these radomes (4, 6 & 8 ft) need only electrical hook-up. For installation of one piece radomes, follow bolded steps numbers 1, 2, 7 & & 12 ft Assembly & Installation Tools Required 7/16", 1/2" Socket Wrench, 7/16" Box Wrench, Awl 1. Select a relatively flat work area and place the antenna on its steel back structure with the reflector surface pointing straight up. 2. Uncrate the radome by removing the securing wood members and lag bolts from the radome. For sectionalized radomes, arrange the radome sections in position for assembly. See Figures 1 & Attach foam tape between flanges (one strip per pair of flanges). Clear foam tape from between the bolt holes with an awl or screwdriver. 4. Fasten the radome flanges at the last holes of each side and the last hole at the apex with 5/16-18 x 1-1/2 inch metal bolts, flat washers (each side of flange), lockwashers and nuts. See Figure Fasten the remaining flange holes with nylon bolts, washers (each side of flange) and nuts. 6. For 12 foot heated radomes only: Install the supplied 3 inch white jumper cables as shown in Figure 4. The jumper cables (two each side) are installed inside the radome at the 90 and 270 degree points. 7. Carefully lift the radome by hand and place it on the face of the antenna with the radome electrical junction boxes toward the base of the antenna. Align all mounting holes with an awl. 8. Secure the radome to the reflector with 1/4 x 1-1/4 inch bolts, flat washers and nuts. Place one flat washer between the bolt head and radome, and one flat washer between the nut and reflector flange. See Detail A. Figure 1. Sectionalized 10 Foot Conical Figure 2. 4 Electrical Connections We recommend the use of 3/4" moisture tight conduit and sufficient gauge electrical hookup wire for all radome wiring. See tables on page seven for radome power and wire gauge requirments. 1. Mount the thermostat control box on the tower close to the antenna or on the antenna tower mount. This completes heated radome installation. If technical help is required - contact Cablewave Systems, (203) Figure ft. s only : Connect three (supplied) black, white and green jumpers between the radome J-boxes as shown in Figure Mount the control box at the base of the tower. 4. 6, 8, 10 & 12 ft. s only : Run conduit between the main control box and the radome with red, white, black, blue and brown control wires, and two green ground wires. Leave sufficient wire length for the blue and brown wires and one green ground wire to reach the thermost control box. 4 ft. s only : Run conduit between the main control box and the radome with white, black, blue and brown control wires, and two green ground wires. Leave sufficient wire length for the blue and brown wires and one green ground wire to reach the thermost control box. 5. 6, 8, 10 & 12 ft. s only : Connect the red, black, white control wires and one green ground wire from the conduit to the radome J-box as shown in Figures 5, 6, 7 & 8. 4 ft. s only : Connect the black, white control wires and one green ground wire from the conduit to the radome J-box as shown in Figure Run the blue thermostat wire from the conduit to the thermostat box. See Figures 4-8. Connect the blue thermostat wire to the normally open (N.O.) side of thermostat switch S2. 7. Connect the brown wire between the normally closed (N.C.) side of thermostat switch S1. 8. Connect the AC main power source wires (red, white and black) to the control box. 4 Foot Heated page four
