I can't believe how talented some knappers are. One Indian fellow who demands very big money and has for years at one stage told us that he had limited himself to only four customers. We have another client who buys opal at up to $10,000/oz, mind you he doesn't knap that but he has knapped some beautiful material, I can't believe the work he has done. Today we were asked for some knapping material and we are sending it off to a new client, we picked out a fair bit for him to select from. Rather than just put this back into stock we thought we would give you a look. If you are not a knapper don't think there is nothing here for you, for instance the $765 Mintubi is a beautiful stone, it's thick enough to cut cabochons, beads and would make a great carving or knapping. The same can be said for the $357 stone, it's huge, it covers nearly half the palm of your hand. There is one very unusual stone here, it weighs 8.75oz and does virtually cover the palm of your hands, it is.75" thick. It is what we call Boulder Matrix opal $250. The picture doesn't show so much colour but as you chip or grind away you will see some very nice colours. Just to show you the sort of colours that can come from this material there are a few pictures below of Boulder Matrix opal beads and carvings. Regards and good knapping.
