There are over 430 member company associates involved in the work of AEIC committees. Their volunteer involvement not only brings significant value to each AEIC member company, but also, through shared information exchange, benefits the entire electric energy industry. This issue of the AEIC Committee/Connection focuses on the top leadership the Chairs of each of the AEIC Committees and Subcommittees. Reading through these short biographies will unveil the vast work experience and expertise that these volunteer leaders bring to the work of the Association. Power Delivery Committee Mike Mathews M ike Mathews serves as Vice President of Transmission and Distribution Operations for Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company. He began his work with OG&E in 1985 as a meter reader. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of roles at the company, including as a lineman and an environmental health and safety specialist. He was appointed Director of Region Operations in 2006, responsible for all daily electrical distribution operations throughout the OG&E system, and in 2011 was appointed Managing Director of Power Delivery Distribution, responsible for existing distribution operations with the addition of System Integrity, System Resource, and Fleet. Mathews serves on the Board of Directors of Wings, a special needs community in Edmond, OK, and currently serves as the OG&E Executive Sponsor for the Special Olympics Winter Games. He is a past president of the Oklahoma City Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). He also is a trustee on the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial and Museum. Mathews earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Safety from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University. He also is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Registered Environmental Manager (REM).

2 Power Generation Committee Miguel Arechabala Miguel Arechabala is Executive Vice President of the Power Generation Division of NextEra Energy, Inc., a leading clean energy company. Mr. Arechabala directs power generation activities for all renewable and fossil-fueled plants of both of NextEra Energy s principal subsidiaries, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) and NextEra Energy Resources. He has held this position since January Prior to his current role, Mr. Arechabala served as President of NextEra Energy España, a subsidiary responsible for development, construction, and operation of two solar thermal power plants in southwestern Spain. Before that, he was Vice President of Operations for all unregulated thermal and hydro generating assets at NextEra Energy Resources. Mr. Arechabala began his career as a summer student at FPL s Port Everglades power plant in Mr. Arechabala received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Miami and his Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of South Florida. He is also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. Meter and Service Committee Ken Dimpfl Ken Dimpfl is the Manager of Meter Engineering, Meter Labs and Equipment Repair organizations for American Electric Power (AEP) based in Columbus, OH. In this capacity, he manages AEP s Meter Engineering activities, including evaluation of AMI Systems and Home Area Network technology, Meter Standards, and provides technology recommendations relating to new metering products for AEP s seven operating companies across 11 states. Dimpfl joined AEP subsidiary, Wheeling Power, in 1990, and has held positions in the Transmission and Distribution Engineering group and was a Field Meter Supervisor. He joined AEP Service Corporation in 2002 and held various positions including Meter Revenue Operations Support Supervisor and Customer Services Support Supervisor. He was promoted to his current position in July He has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering technology from the University of Pittsburgh. 2 AEIC Committee/Connection February 2018

3 Cable Engineering Committee Arie Makovoz Arie Makovoz is a Technical Expert for the Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. in the Transmission Engineering Department. His responsibilities include underground transmission cable system designs, failure analyses and restoration procedures, standards updates, and support of transmission operations. He is actively involved in the development and implementation of new technologies for underground transmission, some of which have already been successfully adopted by Consolidated Edison of New York. Mr. Makovoz is active in many industry committees and has been Vice Chair of the AEIC Cable Engineering Committee since fall He has represented his company on CEATI s Underground Transmission Committee and is engaged in several CIGRE working groups and IEEE PES ICC committees. He joined Con Edison of New York in 2003 and held positions as an Engineer, Senior Engineer, and Technical Expert in the Transmission Engineering Department. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in New York State. He has won various Consolidated Edison Team awards as well as the prestigious Central Engineering EDDY award. Power Delivery Storm Team Subcommittee Keith Hull Keith Hull is Vice President of Distribution Operations for Oncor Electric Delivery. He is also the 1st Vice Chair of the Power Delivery Committee. He has 36 years of experience across a broad range of areas in the electric utility industry. Hull has managed various engineering, distribution, construction, maintenance, and operations organizations. In his current position, he is responsible for Distribution Operations, Distribution Services, Distribution Major Projects, System Streetlights, and Health and Safety. 3 AEIC Committee/Connection February 2018

4 Electric Power Apparatus Committee Scott Moore Scott P. Moore is Vice President of Transmission Engineering and Project Services for AEP Transmission, a part of American Electric Power (AEP). In his current role, Moore directs the capital service function for AEP Transmission, the nation s largest electricity transmission system, comprising more than 40,000 miles of transmission line and some 5,000 substations in eleven states. This involves overseeing development of transmission engineering standards, the engineering and design of transmission lines and stations, easement and property acquisition, and project and construction management. As Vice President of Transmission System and Region Operations from 2007 to 2010, Moore steered the company s regional operations and maintenance responsibilities, providing reliable and cost-effective operation of AEP s transmission grid. In this position, Moore directed construction of AEP Transmission s state-ofthe-art control center, which is globally recognized as one of the top facilities of its kind. He also led initiatives that established the policies and systems that ensure AEP transmission assets comply with national and state reliability and safety standards. Moore received a Bachelor s in Electrical Engineering in 1982 from Texas Tech University in Lubbock and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. He also completed the Wharton School of Business Executive Development Program in Distributed Energy Subcommittee Andrea Dennis Andrea Dennis is Director of System Operations at Oklahoma Gas & Electric. She oversees, leads, and directs the transmission and distribution control center operations, the supervisory control and data acquisition system, and the transmission and distribution operations engineering team. She also facilitates the implementation of new emerging technologies that are strategically connected to the various activities related to the modernization of the power delivery infrastructure, regulatory, and compliance strategies, and new opportunities for the corporation. She has worked for OG&E for 8 1/2 years. Prior to joining OG&E, she worked for ten years at Xerox Corporation in packaging and process operations engineering, IT management, and Six Sigma roles. 4 AEIC Committee/Connection February 2018

5 Project Management Subcommittee Jason Smeltz Jason Smeltz joined FirstEnergy in 2017 as a Transmission Project Manager V. He is responsible for managing large capital transmission projects throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania. Prior to this position, Jason was a Senior Project Manager for 4 years at PECO Energy Company, where he managed transmission, distribution, and substation capital projects. Most notably, during his time at PECO, Jason oversaw the Philadelphia Center City obsolescence project, involving the retirement of several substations, as well as the 2.4kV 2ph system. Jason spent the first 10 years of his career at PPL Electric Utilities, working first as Field Engineer, and then as Project Manager for transmission capital projects. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University in 2004, and a Master of Business Administration from Millersville University in He is a Registered Project Management Professional. Customer Service Committee Marilyn Caselli Marilyn Caselli is Senior Vice President of Customer Operations at Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. She leads an organization of more than 2,000 employees who are dedicated to delivering a low-effort, high-satisfaction customer experience. She has overall responsibility for the company s customer service operations, including meter reading, billing and payment, call center operations, and customer outreach and education. Ms. Caselli s leadership has marshaled in a new era for the customer experience. Applying effective tools, such as journey mapping and ideation, Customer Operations is on the forefront of meeting customers evolving expectations. Through the introduction of an agile approach, her team developed a Digital Customer Experience (DCX) project that modernized the company s technology while ensuring a high-satisfaction customer experience. Prior to assuming her current position, Ms. Caselli served as Vice President of Customer Service for Staten Island, where she had responsibility for electric operations and customer operations. Ms. Caselli is a board member of the College of Staten Island Foundation. She was named to the YWCA Academy of Women Achievers in 1993, to Crain s 40 under 40 list in 1994, and the Staten Island Chapter of UNICO s Woman of the Year in In 2001, she was honored by the Women in Business Committee of the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce and also was the recipient of the YWCA of Brooklyn Women of Distinction Award. 6 Load Research & Analytics Committee Nathan Mathis Nathan Mathis is a Senior Specialist supporting Industrial and Federal Sectors for Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). He provides business intelligence services and support to add value to TVA s partnerships with large industrial customers. Prior to his role in customer delivery, he served in TVA s Energy Right Solutions group, performing measurement and verification and forecasting for energy efficiency and demand response programs. Mathis has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University and Master of Economics from Middle Tennessee State University. He is also a Certified Energy Manager and a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional. Human Resources Subcommittee Kyle Davis Kyle Davis serves as the Sr. Director of Workforce Strategy and Labor Relations for Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC. He has 35 years of experience in the electric utility industry in a variety of roles across a broad range of areas, which include: nuclear and fossil production, mining, and transmission and distribution. In his current role he is responsible for employee and labor relations, talent acquisition/management, absence management, compliance, diversity and inclusion, and human resources business partners. He joined the company in 1982, following 6 years in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the submarine USS Tecumseh.
