He started with Marathon as a reservoir/production engineer and has worked primarily on international projects. In 1991 he coordinated the preparation of a feasibility study for the development of a field in Western Siberia. In 1992, he led the economic analysis of the Sakhalin II Project during the feasibility study, and later became part of the negotiating team that negotiated the first Production Sharing Agreement in Russia. Johnson was then seconded to Sakhalin Energy Investment Company and held positions of Approvals Manager in Moscow, and Russian Content Manager in Sakhalin. After Marathon left the Sakhalin II Project, he headed up Marathon s Moscow office as VP of Business Development. Johnson has a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College and recently completed an Executive MBA degree from Rice University. 2
3 4:00 5:30 p.m. Leadership Development Workshop (McDonough Center Gallery, Third Floor) Heifetz s Adaptive Leadership Krista Henry (facilitator), Kelsea Shultz, Bobby Payne, Western Kentucky University The workshop is based upon the teachings from Ronald Heifetz s Leadership Without Easy Answers. Participants will be provided with a unique opportunity to get multiple perspectives from both a teacher s viewpoint and a student s viewpoint regarding Adaptive Leadership. The workshop will begin with a brief overview of Adaptive Leadership, including its history, basic principles, and most commonly used teaching methods. Following the overview, participants will engage in an integrative activity, which will highlight general concepts related to Adaptive Leadership. More specifically, participants will be assigned a specific role in a given group. The activity will create an environment in which participants must use both individual aspects of their own leadership as well as teamwork to accomplish the given task. Alonzo is a political party activist, professor at Del Valle de Guatemala University and a patent examiner in the biotechnology division of the Ministry of Economy in Guatemala. She has been working as a patent examiner for the Intellectual Property Register at the Ministry of Economy since Prior to this, she was an Intellectual Property Advisor to the Guatemalan Vice-Minister of Investment and Competence and the Latin American Coordinator for the Ibero-American Network of Intellectual Property Experts at the CEDDET Foundation in Spain. In 2012, Alonzo decided to become involved in politics and joined the Transparency, Order, Development, Opportunities and Security (TODOS) political party as a member of the National Executive Committee in the National Assembly. Since 2013, Alonzo has served as the National Secretary of Science and 4
5 Technology of the party, developing entrepreneurship programs that foster information access and social media networking for small businesses. The TODOS party s platform is focused on promoting the empowerment and economic independence of women, community leaders and youth, as well as promoting food security for women and children. Alonzo graduated magna cum laude with a master s in international relations from Francisco Marroquin University and cum laude from Del Valle de Guatemala University (UVG) with a bachelor of science in biochemistry and microbiology. During that time, he has gained valuable experiences from a few business failures, but also subsequent wins including taking a startup full-circle to a sale. In addition, Meinzen has built more than a dozen support groups/networks, five successful events and conferences, and consulted hundreds of entrepreneurs and cities on how to start and grow businesses. In addition, numerous magazines and websites have recognized Meinzen for his entrepreneurial results. These life experiences have made Meinzen passionate about helping others, both personally and professionally. His early experiences have taught him the power of collaboration and how to communicate complex topics and solutions. Meinzen graduated from Marietta College with Management and Marketing degrees and an emphasis in Leadership Studies. He went straight from college into entrepreneurship and has achieved nearly impossible outcomes. Selotlegeng also held the position of Airline Advisor responsible for providing strategic direction to both the organization and the Board of Directors. Ms. Selotlegeng is also the recipient of the prestigious Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Sapphire Award in recognition of volunteer work and service to the community in Botswana and beyond.
