4 Meet the Professionals Ricardo L. DeSoto Financial Advisor Senior Vice President Rick is originally from Charlotte and has been serving clients in the financial services business for 29 years. His focus is municipal and taxable fixed income where he possesses an extensive knowledge of the North and South Carolina municipal markets. Because of the volume of fixed income business that Rick has historically directed, he and the DeSoto Holland Wealth Management Group are members of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney s FidSelect Program and have access to sophisticated investment strategies and personalized attention with regards to fixed income products. Rick is the founding member of the DeSoto Holland Wealth Management Group and is responsible for having developed a team of financial professionals dedicated to covering the needs of a High Net Worth clientele. 5 Rick earned a BA in business from Western Carolina University where he played freshman football and was a varsity wrestler. He now serves on Western Carolina University s board of directors. He has also served on the boards of Fletcher School (Charlotte), Charlotte Rescue Mission, and the State Board for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and currently serves on the African Leadership Board (a foreign missions organization). Rick makes his home in Charlotte with his wife Vikki where they attend Forest Hill Church. They are the proud parents of three grown children. Rick and Vikki enjoy running, traveling and are looking forward to having grandchildren. Rick.DeSoto@mssb.com Keith Holland Financial Advisor First Vice President Keith offers 27 years of experience in the financial securities business where he has focused on meeting the needs of professionals, business owners and retirees who look to him for guidance in helping them achieve their objectives. Additionally, Keith focuses on providing tax-advantaged growth and income through the use of various tax advantaged investments, including taxfree municipal bonds, fixed and variable annuities. He was the co-founder of the DeSoto Holland Wealth Management Group in Keith is originally from Charlotte and graduated from Appalachian State University, where he received a BS in Business Administration. He holds the Series 7, 31, and 63 securities licenses and is also licensed in life, accident and health insurance. As an active member of First Baptist Church Charlotte for 29 years, Keith currently serves on the Strategic Planning Committee and also chairs the church s Capital Campaign Fund. He has served as a deacon and as a member of numerous committees including Stewardship and Finance. Keith is an avid runner and enjoys cycling and traveling, as well as spending time with his family and friends at Lake Tillery. 6 Jeffrey B. Gaskin, CFP Financial Advisor Portfolio Manager Jeff brings with him 30 years of financial services experience and focuses on providing financial planning, retirement and estate planning, and portfolio management services to high net worth individuals, professionals and business owners. Jeff s designations as a CFP practitioner and Portfolio Manager qualify him to develop strategies for clients overall financial and portfolio needs, for which he incorporates investments across all asset classes. Jeff earned the Series 3, 4, 7, 12, 24, 27, 53, 63 and 65 securities licenses and is also licensed for life, accident and health insurance and long-term care. During his career, he has held management and advisory roles at UBS, EF Hutton and Legg Mason and was also a founder and president of a 105-person broker dealer firm. Jeff received a B.A. in chemistry from the University of North Carolina and an M.B.A. from Cornell University. He is an avid motorcyclist, owns a small farm, and has a thoroughbred horse that competes in Eventing (Dressage, Cross Country, and Stadium). Active in his community, Jeff serves as president of the board for the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Foundation and is also chairman of its investment committee. He has served as the Annual Fund chairman and board member for the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and also as a director for North Carolina Harvest. Additionally, he has been on the Finance and Strategic Planning committees of Carmel Baptist Church. Jeff resides with his wife, Marie, in Charlotte and they have three grown children. Jeff.Gaskin@mssb.com Jeff Snyder Financial Advisor Portfolio Manager Jeff has been in the financial securities business for 13 years and focuses on taxfree investing, portfolio management and financial planning. His clients include business owners, professionals (with an emphasis on physicians, nurses and administrators), and retirees desiring monthly income. Jeff emphasizes the importance of thoroughly profiling clients with the objective of reaching a proper asset allocation that is in line with their investment objectives and risk tolerance. Prior to joining the financial services industry, Jeff spent 15 years with one firm in the Construction Supply Business where he specialized in marketing, inventory management and business development. 7 and residential case goods and cabinetry in North Carolina. This experience provides Jeff with an ability to identify with the needs of business owners on a daily basis. He is also licensed in life, accident and health insurance. As an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte, Jeff serves as a leader for the church s Boy Scout troop. His other interests are focused on his family, where he is an avid supporter of his sons in competitive wrestling. He also is an owner of a Christmas tree farm in Ashe County, NC. Jeff.Snyder@mssb.com David Delaney Financial Advisor Vice President A native of Charlotte, David began in the financial securities industry 26 years ago with Interstate Securities in Asheville, NC where he worked primarily with institutional accounts. With a focus on working with local governments across the Southeast, David believes in a fixed income philosophy that reflects the credo of the investment of public funds: Capital Preservation, Liquidity and Yield. During his tenure of 10 years at UBS (prior to joining Morgan Stanley Smith Barney), David was one of the firm s Top 50 in the Regional Institutional Sales Group. David graduated from Western Carolina University with a BS in Business Law and has earned the Series 3, 7, 63 and 65 securities licenses. He is also licensed in life, accident and health insurance. David is an avid cyclist, where he devotes a significant amount of time supporting (and riding in) 24 Hours of Booty, the Lance Armstrong Foundation official 24 hour ride to raise vital funds for cancer research and survivorship. 8 Pam Dennis Senior Client Service Associate Dee Journigan Registered Client Service Associate Diane Locke Client Service Associate Pam has served in the Financial Securities business for 24 years where her focus has been operations. She is responsible for Account Transfers and works with clients on such day- to-day operational issues as journals, income disbursements, and trust and estate account initiations. Pam volunteers with the Charlotte Food Bank and is also involved with delivering meals to people through Friendship Trays. She is especially proud of her son who served our country honorably in the US Marine Corps Dee joined the Financial Securities industry 25 years ago and has a number of critical responsibilities with the team. In addition to interacting with clients on trades and other account issues, she is the designated wire operator for equities, options, mutual funds, fixed income and annuities. Dee holds the Series 7 and 66 securities licenses and earned an Associate Degree in Computer Science from Hardbarger Junior College of Business. She is an avid gardener who enjoys camping and fishing with her husband and two sons. 9 Kate Rogerson Registered Marketing Associate Sandra Wallace Registered Marketing Associate Kate joined the DeSoto Holland Wealth Management Group four years ago and is responsible for generating many of our financial plans and client reviews. In addition, she coordinates syndicate offerings and tracks municipal and taxable fixed income offerings for the team. Kate earned the Series 7, 31 and 66 securities licenses and is a graduate of Indiana University, with a BS in Psychology and a BA in Criminal Justice. She is an experienced Senior Client Service Associate skilled at maintaining long-term client relationships and is experienced as a former wire operator, operations manager, and administrative assistant.
