3 Meet the Chairman & speakers Chris Usher (Chairman) Chief Executive Officer Jersey International Business School Chris has over 20 years experience in international financial services, working both in the UK and offshore, for major financial institutions such as Barclays Wealth and Santander. Formerly an International Investment Manager he advised both individuals and corporate entities on complex investment scenarios. He now specialises in delivering training in investment management, taxation and regulatory matters in international finance centres around the world. Chris is a specialist chairman of a number of high-profile events, including conferences such as the Annual Compliance & Economic Crime Symposium and the International Taxation Conference. As an expert in the financial crime risks posed to international offshore financial centres, Chris was invited to speak at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) conference on the topic of Understanding the Criminal Vulnerabilities of Offshore Products and Services. Gayle Swanson Chair JADO Gayle Swanson is a Director of Capita Asset Services and has over 13 years funds experience in the Channel Islands. She is the Chairperson of the Jersey Association of Directors and Officers as well as being a committee member of the Jersey Funds Association. Prior to joining Capita, Gayle was the Head of Fund Accounting of BNP Paribas Securities Services, with a team of 12 that specialised in Listed Debt. Before this she had worked in practice for over 12 years with both EY and PwC. Gayle is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and holds a MA Hons in Accountancy. Deputy Rod Bryans Education Minister States of Jersey, Education Department First sworn to office as Deputy of St Helier No 2 district on 14 November 2011, Rod was elected as Assistant Minister and re-elected in 2014, becoming Education Minister. Previously Rod moved from teaching into finance becoming Director of a local insurance brokerage. Deputy Bryans has also served as local Chairman of the Personal Finance Society and acted as Chair of Governors for Haute Vallee Secondary school for 9 years. In 2006 he chaired the Pensions Working Group that created the new personal pension (Retirement Annuity Trust Scheme) arrangement on the island. He was a member of the Planning Appeals Panel and deputized for Senator Maclean on Public Sector Reform. He created two local retail campaigns Think Twice Buy Local, used by the government, and Taste the Passion for Genuine Jersey. He also came up with the original concept of What s My Street s Story for Jersey Archive and helped create Red Dot, a group of local artists. He is a Co-Founder of the 745 Breakfast Club, a local networking business group running for over 10 years and with around 200 members. He actively runs photographic blogs for Jersey Heritage and St Helier. He also lectures on subjects including Thinking Differently and Design Thinking.

4 Tony Moretta Chief Executive Officer Digital Jersey Tony has over 20 years experience across a wide range of digital industries, including mobile, online, broadcast, payments, data analytics and building new technology-based businesses. Beginning his career at NatWest, rising to Senior Manager Commercial Development in their cards business, he went on to Visa Europe as VP of New Products. Later moving to ITV Digital as Director of Interactivity, followed by senior positions at National Grid Wireless and Digital Radio UK, where as CEO he increased digital radio sales from 5 to 11 million and persuaded the car industry to standardise it. Recently he led digital projects for UK Government and major corporates, and was one of the founders of Weve, a joint venture between EE, O2 & Vodafone in mobile marketing, payments and data analytics. As CEO of Digital Jersey, Tony is leading the drive to build a strong digital industry here, working with Government, the private sector and organisations around the world. David Carney Director - Risk Assurance PwC David Carney is an expert in Financial Systems, Controls Assurance and Data Analytics. He joined PwC UK in 2006, where he led the Data Assurance team for PwC across the South & East region. David relocated to Jersey in 2013 as part of the local firm s continued investment in its Risk Assurance practice, which he leads across the Islands. He brings a unique breadth of experience across a broad range of clients and industries from his roots as a Chartered Accountant and subsequently spending 16 years specialising in the areas of technology assurance and information security, controls assurance, internal audit and data analytics. David is highly skilled in dealing with such challenges as those currently faced by the Channel Islands and its industries, particularly across the financial services industry and digital sectors. Martina McGibney Commercial Director Easenmyne and Phoenix Foodservice Martina is an ambitious and highly motivated individual with over 20 years experience in foodservice, manufacturing, logistics and distribution industry, with a proven track record of leadership and successful business development. Reporting directly to the board, Martina oversees the overall management of the company, both commercially and operationally, is responsible for 67 staff members in Jersey and Guernsey. Whilst ensuring at all times best practices of corporate governance and business strategy is delivered and executed professionally. In Martina s spare time she loves to socialise with close friends and family. She is a keen traveller and enjoys sailing with her family when she gets the time to pop back to family in Ireland.

5 Meet the speakers Louise Bracken-Smith Managing Director Fairway Group Louise Bracken-Smith founded Fairway Trust in 2000 and became Managing Director of Fairway Group in She sits on the board of a number of real estate, private equity and venture capital funds as well as managed trust and fund services businesses, of which Fairway acts. This includes Emirates NBD Trust Company (Jersey) Limited (a subsidiary of Emirates NBD Bank PJSC). She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is a member of STEP, holding the Diploma in International Trust Management. Outside of the workplace, she is a prime example of the term corporate athlete as she juggles running a business with triathlon training for the forthcoming ITU World Triathlon Series in Rotterdam. Charlotte Valeur Managing Director Global Governance Group Charlotte has more than 30 years of experience in financial markets and is the Managing Director of GGG Ltd, a governance consultancy. She currently serves as a non-executive director on a number of boards of listed and unlisted companies, including chairing Kennedy Wilson Europe Real Estate and Blackstone/GSO loan Financing. Charlotte worked in London as a Director in Capital Markets at Warburg, BNP Paribas, Societe Generale and Commerzbank, beginning her career in Copenhagen with Nordea A/S. She is a member of the Institute of Directors and is regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission. Paula Williams Managing Director Island Consortium Training Paula Williams is the Managing Director of Island Consortium Training in Guernsey, a non-executive director for The Channel Islands Co-operative Society and Vice Chair for the Bailiwick of Guernsey Scout Association. Over the past 2 years she has been actively involved in implementing a number of new leadership development initiatives, including the Guernsey IoD Board Readiness Programme and NED Apprenticeship Programme. Island Consortium Training works closely with companies to deliver effective in-house courses, coaching and change management programmes, which align to a company s values and strategic objectives. Paula has an MBA in Strategic Management from Henley Business School and a Diploma in Tertiary Teaching. She is an active member of the NED Forum, Chamber of Commerce and Institute of Directors.

6 Jackie Barette Managing Director People Performance Consulting Limited Jackie is the Founder and Managing Director of People Performance Consulting Limited, which specialises in the development of individuals and teams to achieve high performing organisations. She works with a number of different sectors across the Channel Islands using personality assessments such as Myers Briggs, 360 degree leadership feedback, emotional intelligence and psychometric testing. These assessments are used in executive coaching for individuals and leadership programmes, building team capability. Jackie also specialises in quality frameworks assessments such as Lexcel, the risk management assessment for law firms, Investors in People, and Customer Service Excellence Quality Assurance. These assessments benchmark organisations against proven quality standards, and Jackie then works with the organisations to support and develop their people, processes and strategy in order to achieve compliance with the framework. Jackie is a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) programme Director and is the Partner and facilitator for the Ken Blanchard Situation Leadership II in the Channel Islands. This programme is the global leader in management training and the most widely taught leadership model in the world. In her spare time Jackie enjoys supporting local charities whilst being a swimming enthusiast. Kevin Keen MBA FCCA FCMA Cdir (Panel speaker) Self-employed Interim Manager Kevin was born and educated in Jersey and has gained over 40 years experience of working here. Roles have included Finance Director of Le Riche Group, Managing Director of Jersey Dairy, Chairman of Jersey Water, Chief Executive of Jersey Post, Advisor to the States of Jersey, and most recently Interim Chief Executive of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. Over the last few years he has become particularly interested in the contribution leaders make to organisational success and failure. This interest has led him to founding a not-for-profit initiative called Leadership Jersey which aims to encourage more recognition of the importance of great leadership and in turn a lot more focus on leadership development in all sectors of Jersey life.
