Winning in the boardroom conference A good balance of subject matter - something for everyone. I really enjoyed the diversity of the speakers but finding common ground. The greatest value of the day was sharing experiences and aspirations with other people at a similar juncture. This gave a common sense of purpose and motivation. I experienced a great day with In Touch Networks fantastic speakers, in a most historic venue. The day flew by and I have learned good lessons to begin my journey towards a place in the boardroom. 4 EVENT SPEAKERS Rita Clifton Portfolio Chairman And Director Rita Clifton has been called The Doyenne of Branding by Campaign magazine, Brand Guru by the Financial Times, and the Daily Telegraph described her as The Brand Leading the Brands. She has worked with many of the world s leading companies on their brand strategy and has been featured on a wide variety of TV and radio programmes on business, brand, marketing and communication issues, including CNN, BBC Breakfast and Channel 4 News. Rita s early career was in advertising, during which time she became Vice Chairman and Strategy Director at Saatchi & Saatchi. In 1997 she joined Interbrand as the London CEO and became Chairman in 2002, Rita then became Co-Founder and Chair of BrandCap, the brand consultancy for the boardroom in In addition to being a best-selling book author, a regular reviewer and columnist in national and international newspapers and speaking around the world on a variety of subjects, Rita has a portfolio of chairing and Non-Executive Directorship roles, including Ascential, Bupa, Nationwide, ASOS and Populus.. Andy Lopata Business Networking Strategist Andy works with companies on how to use networking tools to develop their businesses. Networking is not just about sales. Whether for lead generation, breaking down silos internally, recruitment and retention of top staff, or developing future leaders, networks and collaboration have a key role to play. Andy works with clients to help recognise that role and put the strategy and skills in place to leverage it. For eight years, he was Managing Director of one of the UK s leading referral-focused networking groups with over 2,000 member companies. Since then, he has worked with companies from one-man bands to global names such as NatWest Bank, Merrill Lynch and Mastercard to help them realise the full potential from their networking.

5 EVENT SPEAKERS Phil Anderson Board Advisor and Non-Executive Director Phil is one of the UK s leading sales and marketing experts. He built his reputation in senior positions at the likes of Gillette, Oral B, Sensodyne, Thorntons, Littlewoods and Damart. Phil has a wealth of experience working across companies of all sizes in the FMCG, retail, mail order and e-commerce sectors, delivering significant improvements to brand performance and reputation. His success is based on developing a deep customer understanding, ensuring the customer is placed right at heart of the business and developing targeted propositions and new initiatives. Phil has made a highly successful transition to a portfolio career. Currently a Non-Executive Director and Chair for an award-winning logistics social enterprise, he also acts as a consultant to businesses on their strategy. He will be talking about his experiences and how he has used his skills to develop his plural career in a highly competitive marketplace.. Pete Wade Non-Executive Director Pete has almost 20 years experience in tech including online retail, payments, and social media. He spent over 10 years at ebay, 5 of which were in Silicon Valley. During his time at ebay, Pete worked closely with tech investors across the US and Europe. His final task at ebay was the IPO of PayPal. Having relocated back to the UK in 2015, Pete was an interim Finance Director at Trainline, and most recently CFO of LADbible Group, the largest publisher of social video in the world based in Manchester. He now works for a number of tech businesses across the UK, helping them to grow faster, raise money, and make better decisions. He will be talking about a topic crucial to the success of any portfolio career - how to make an impact quickly once you ve got the role..
