9 Conference Overview Avoiding the curses of Work Comp Nightmare on Subrogation Street Speakers: Charleton Pearse, Esq., Adam Ambrozy, Esq. and Benjamin Oram, Esq. Lenahan, Lee, Slater & Pearse, LLP Subrogation can be a nightmare full of money seeking goblins at every turn. Sometimes the facts are not on your side or the law is against you but what should be considered when deciding how to proceed? If you wait to pursue a claim or retain an attorney for too long, you could lose recovery to applicant s attorney. When should you settle if the workers compensation claim is still active? What defense tactics in the workers compensation case can harm the subrogation case? How does third party credit work and how do you get the timing right to obtain the most benefit. Subrogation can add complexity to you case but can be very beneficial as well. The Sixth Sense: What s New at the DWC? Speaker: George Parisotto Acting Administrative Director CA Dept. of Workers Compensation Hear first-hand from the Acting Administrative Director of California Department of Workers Compensation about how new rules and regulations will impact the workers compensation community going. 11 Conference Overview Avoiding the curses of Work Comp Workers Compensation Legislative Update: WC - Just Like Halloween Trick or Treat Speaker: Lori C. Kammerer Kammerer & Company Halloween Tricks or Treats! Several treats are in store for employers in the form of workers' compensation legislation and regulations, while other bills moving through the Assembly and Senate are full of tricks! We'll cover these bills with legs and those that are among The Walking Dead (2010,2017)! Halloween Not to be confused with the comedy movie Boo 2 (2017), but what surprises surfaced during the last 30 days of the 2017 session - Witch bills were gutted and amended or have morphed into a completely different monster? Halloween One Good Scare (2003) deserves another - What can we expect in the second year of the biennial session and in the Governor's last year? Halloween The Scream Factory (1997) - What's in store for the future of our Worker's Compensation System when Universal Healthcare will likely be the main focus during the Governor's last term. Who besides the CA Nurses' Association will be screaming bloody murder?
