5 John Rosling, Shirlaws UK CEO John is UK CEO of Shirlaws and combines that role with coaching a small number of CEOs, Boards and Partner Groups to achieve the strategic clarity, vision and laser focus that allows for rapid business growth and maximum equity valuation. John was runner up 2012 IoD Director of the Year and author of the popular guide for CEOs More Money, More Time, Less Stress which the Financial Mail s Mike Southon called a roadmap for making your business brilliant again. John started his career with Unilever in the UK and Japan before moving to Diageo as International Marketing Controller with development responsibility for 113 markets. Since leaving the corporate world he has established or acquired a number of small businesses in carbon responsibility, CRM, finance/asset management, e-commerce, and business outsourcing. John is a visiting speaker at the Bettany Centre at Cranfield University where he talks on Management Development and Entrepreneurship. Richard England, Shirlaws UK Partner and Director Richard is a Partner and Director of Shirlaws. He joined Shirlaws in 2003 and works extensively with financial services businesses, supporting transitions to new business models and accelerating growth. Richard is also Director of Assay Heritage, a specialist family wealth strategy practice. Richard has a history of successfully helping businesses to develop and deliver new products and propositions. Prior to joining Shirlaws, he was Managing Director of Civitas, a commercial consultancy advising businesses in the telecommunications sector on growth strategy and partnerships. Richard was also involved in several successful private ventures working on behalf of Morgan Stanley Private Equity. Previously Richard worked in several pioneering businesses including Demon Internet and WordPerfect. Ajaz Ahmed: Key note speaker Ajaz founded AKQA when he was 21 to create an ideas company to help organisations embrace the digital revolution. AKQA s clients include Nike and Red Bull. Over a decade later he is in the same job and AKQA is the largest and most awarded company in its field with over 1,250 employees worldwide. AKQA was recently valued at over half a billion dollars and acquired by WPP. Ajaz also co-founded software company Zolmo, publisher of the highest grossing Jamie Oliver s 20 Minute Meals, named App of the year by Apple. It has also created the blockbuster app Jamie Oliver s Recipes for ipad. With an introduction by Sir Richard Branson, and alongside Stefan Olander head of digital sport at Nike, Ajaz co-authored Velocity Seven New Laws For A World Gone Digital the No. 1 best-selling book about the changing business and technology landscape. All proceeds are donated direct to youth homeless and global healthcare charities.

6 Darren Shirlaw, Shirlaws Founder Darren Shirlaw began his career in the fund management industry, where he gained important insights into how management teams develop strategy and how this impacts company valuations. He spotted a gap in the consulting marketplace: it was dominated by large corporate consulting firms; no organisation was specialising in servicing the small business market, so in 1999 Darren started his first coaching company, Shirlaws, to support the Australian entrepreneurial mid-tier business. Within three years, Shirlaws achieved acclaim including awards such as Australian 7th fastest growing private business, demonstrating the dynamic intellectual property that he had developed to drive tangible business results. These significant results were founded on the principale of driving a strong entrepreneurial culture through fundamental values and realising that the culture of the family and owner operated business was a core business asset. Shirlaws has since expanded to nine international hubs servicing 34 countries, has over 100 coaches working with 1000 clients globally and boasts an average annual growth of 40%. His business agility saw the evolution of Navitas Ltd (Latin for energy ) a privately owned and internally funded boutique Investment House that specialises in starting and scaling companies using the now proprietary, nextgeneration intellectual property. It has expanded into 29 businesses under eight brands and nine countries. Darren has also become a respected thought leader and commentator for the mid-tier market. He first called the recession in 2007 when he told 150 of his clients why they needed to change their business strategy. Since then, he has correctly predicted every stage of the recession. Peter Harford, CEO of Assay Advisory Peter Harford was the Founding Chairman of the Shirlaws Group upon its establishment in Australia in Since that time, Peter has acted in the roles of CEO of Shirlaws UK and more recently as CEO of Navitas Ltd, being the holding company of the Shirlaws businesscoaching Group. In 2010 Peter established Assay Advisory in conjunction with Damian Woodward. His role to date has been to establish the UK Assay business and his focus is now on expanding Assay s operations into additional Territories, leveraging the Navitas/Shirlaws international network and infrastructure built up over the past 13 years. Damian Woodward, Assay Advisory Director After an early military career, Damian has been a successful entrepreneur in both technology and service based industries. Damian has worked as an advisor to high growth technology companies since 2005 and cofounded Assay Advisory in 2010 with the intention of creating the infrastructure to support these businesses on their transition path to exit. Damian is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He holds a BA (Economics and Management), a Master of Management Studies (Technology Management) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment (Corporate Finance). Outside of the world of tech commerce, Damian s interests include golf, rowing, rugby and cricket alongside a range of culinary exploits.

7 Breda Ferarrio, Shirlaws UK Partner Breda joined Shirlaws in 2003 and is a Partner of the UK business. Breda has a vast breadth and depth of coaching experience built over her career working in both the UK and other European countries. She has a real passion for coaching people who are serious about change, in a personal and/or commercial context. Her clients describe her talent as the environment where people feel safe so they can make great decisions and ensure change. She applies this with both teams and individuals. Prior to Shirlaws, Breda successfully ran her own business company to the SME sector where she specialised in people development and cultural change. Before this Breda had a diverse corporate background in the audio-visual, media and industries including the BBC, and GlaxoSmithKline where she developed and implemented strategies to maximise individual, team and Dave Good, Shirlaws UK Partner and Director Dave joined Shirlaws in 2008 and loves working with business owners who care passionately about their business. He has the business background and experience to help clients their commercial and cultural dreams. Dave specialises in working with clients on growth strategies and driving business He will bring clarity and energy to business issues that are growth. Prior to joining Shirlaws, Dave gathered a lot of experience of the market place whilst developing new business for Unilever. As Licensing Director for Unilever in the UK, he expanded Unilever brands into new markets by partnering with start-up businesses and owner-managed businesses. The energy found in these businesses had a major on Dave to join Shirlaws. He has a broad base of commercial experience at Director level with Unilever in Sales and both in the UK and Europe. He also led a major SAP in Birds Eye Walls covering all aspects of a commercial Guy Rigby, Head of Entrepreneurs, Smith & Williamson Guy is an experienced chartered accountant and an entrepreneur. A natural and driven enthusiast, he built and sold his own accountancy as well as pursuing other commercial interests. He has been a director and part owner of a number of companies, including businesses in the IT, property, defence, manufacturing and retail sectors. In an unusually varied career, he has been the senior partner of two accountancy a director, a sales and director and an adviser and mentor to many entrepreneurial businesses and their owners. Guy joined Smith & Williamson in 2008 and leads their entrepreneurial services group. His day to day include advising entrepreneurs and their businesses and Smith & Williamson s in this increasingly important market. Guy has recently released his new book From Vision to Exit - The Entrepreneur s Guide to Building and Selling a Business.
