BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board approve the Hanover/Southtowns Chapter #177 conduct their annual Forget-Me-Not Drive in the Town of Hamburg on Thursday, July 1 st and Friday July 2 nd, Moved: Hoak Seconded: Kesner III. BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk is authorized to advertise for the Annual Police Auction of Lost, Stolen and/or Discarded goods. 4 Correspondence 52 Supervisor Hoak comments that this is from Mayor Jewett, Village of Blasdell, acknowledging that their Police Contract will be expiring June 1 and stating that they would like to work with the Town of Hamburg on a month to month basis. He talked to the mayor and they have agreed on a month to month contract during this transition. 53 Supervisor Hoak comments that this is from Assemblyman Smith thanking Catherine Rybczynski, Town Clerk, for her correspondence asking him to support legislation regarding records management. This is an example of her working with other officials and she will be receiving an award for government municipal employees that he will present at a later date. 54 & 55 Supervisor Hoak refers these to Mr. Kapsiak, Town Engineer, commenting that he has been on top of this and he is waiting for results from other officials. 56 Supervisor Hoak comments that this was a special recognition for Christopher Hull from our Community Development Department. This should be placed in his personnel file. Reports From Town Board Members and Department Heads Councilwoman Kesner reports that as the liaison to the Volunteer Fire Companies she recently met with their representatives and Mr. Spute, Director of Emergency Management, to implement plans for generators to be available to all Volunteer Fire Companies to operate major intersections of our Town in the event of a major power outage. This is a very proactive plan. She thanks Mr. Spute and all the Volunteer Fire Companies who agreed to work with them to develop this plan. Councilwoman Hochul thanks her for working on this. She remembers the last time we had a major power outage and she drove out of the City of Buffalo and every community around her was black, when you got to a signal, except for Hamburg. This was already in place and it does work. The Clean-up on May 1st was a huge success. She thanks everyone involved and heading that list is Rosemary McManus, who puts her heart and sole into this. They exceeded their expectations and she thanks the Building and Grounds Department, Highway Department, Recreation Department and everyone involved. Next year will be the 10 th year. Next week is a work session and at 6:15 p.m. she invited Hal Morris, Executive Director of the Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council to come and speak about the results of the Thruway study. This is in our courts now. They have asked that the Southtowns get together and get some consensus. They asked them to have meetings with the Towns of Evans, Eden, Orchard Park, City of Lackawanna and the Town of Hamburg. Supervisor Hoak announces that on May 1 st they had a clean-up day in Toronto. He has an article to share with Rosemary on the attendance of all the High Schools in the area of Toronto. They set a record of 400. This is only half of the attendance for the Town of Hamburg. This bodes well for our youth and organizations in Hamburg when we double the attendance of a City the size of Toronto. More good news, today he attended a meeting with Councilwoman Hochul and Congressman Quinn at the 10 th anniversary of People, Inc. At that celebration they pointed out that the will be going into Amherst, Lackawanna and Orchard Park and we are the model for the Country. Having a fitness center, an aqua center and the van service that we offer. HUD commented the Town of Hamburg is the goal and model for all communities to reach. Congressman Quinn thanked Mr. Connolly who was heavily involved in this fourteen years ago and with the support of this Board, not only was it achieved but it has grown on an annual basis. Councilwoman Hochul commented that she has heard from neighboring Supervisors that their residents have come up to them and asked for the services that the Town of Hamburg offers the Seniors. She was proud to hear that. Business From the Floor Walter Kaleta, Adams St., comments that two years ago they took out a Bond for repairing roads. Scranton Road and Electric Avenue are falling apart. What would it cost to repair these roads. Mr. Connolly comments that he will check into this. This has been an extremely bad year for the roads. They used a treatment on Scranton and Electric and they thought it would hold up better. Mr. Connolly comments that this is a very good point and this was such an intense winter on the roads that they will have to do a lot of work to get them into better shape.

5 Councilwoman Hochul wants to remind everyone that the traffic signal is in at Legion and Division Streets. This week it will just be a flashing signal to get everyone used to it. They will keep the crossing guard and then on Friday they will flip the switch to activate it. It will be a flashing yellow on Legion most of the time. She wants to thank Paul Gaughn, Jeanne Chase, Mr. Kapsiak, Mr. Connolly and Mr. Ellis for being involved in getting this going. XI. RESOLVED, that the Town Board adjourn to Executive Session at 7:20 p.m. Moved: Hoak Roll Call: Ayes: Hoak, Cavalcoli, Hochul, Kesner, Quatroche Catherine Rybczynski, Town Clerk Correspondence - May 10, To Supervisor Hoak from the Town Clerk s Office, the monthly report for April with receipts totaling $54, To Supervisor Hoak from Ernest Jewett, Mayor Village of Blasdell, stating that the current agreement for Police Services will be expiring as of June 1, They would like to avail themselves of the opportunity to continue Police services on a month to month basis until such time that their Department will be up and running. 53 To Catherine Rybczynski, Town Clerk from Assemblyman Richard Smith thanking her for contacting his office regarding the sunset provisions for the Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund, stating that he will do whatever is possible to advance this issue.

6 54 To Supervisor Hoak from Michael Podd, 4827 Rogers Road expressing concerns regarding the Woodstream Estate Subdivision. Specifically: increased potential of downstream flooding caused by surface water runoff from development; impacts to water quality from discharge and runoff from the new development; and, loss of wetlands and the ability for the shallow aquifer to recharge. 55 A copy of a letter from Jerome Barry to Mary Travers, WKBW, stating he lives on South Park Ave. between Route 20 and Big Tree Road. His family has been promised sewers since Questioning what can be done. 56 To Christopher Hull, Director of Community Development from Scott Gehl, Housing Opportunities Made Equal, Stating that he was honored at their 41 st Annual Meeting and commenting on what was said. Stating that this is high praise and he and his colleagues are certainly due. 57 To Supervisor Hoak from Alan Hevesi, Office of State Comptroller, commenting on and including a fact sheet stating that the Governor s Office has offered several false and fiscally irresponsible arguments to support his pension reform plan. Also saying that as a fiscal officer he is entitled to have correct information so the Town can make the right decisions.
