1 Biographies Anna Grosman Anna Grosman joined the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group at Imperial College, London in January Her research interests focus on the determinants of firms' commitment to long term resources, such as investment in capital assets. Anna is analysing how investment is influenced by firms' transparency, networks, blockholders and board structures. Being a native Russian speaker, Anna started her research by analysing the context of emerging economies, where relationships identified in developed markets may not hold. More information at Bersant Hobdari Bersant Hobdari is Associate Professor at the Department of International Economics and Management at Copenhagen Business School. His research is focused on boards of directors, ownership structures, the role of national and subnational governance institutions and institutional dynamics, and stakeholder relationship. His work is published in management and economics journals as well as edited book chapters. Caspar Rose Caspar Rose is professor at CBS. He holds a background in law as well as finance. He has published extensively in international journals focusing on; board dynamics, takeover defenses, financial institutions, M&A s and incentive remuneration. He combines a unique multidisciplinary approach with substantial practical experience as legal advisor for Dansk Industri as well as chief analyst in Danske Bank. His current research focuses on CEO succession analyzing how the stock market reacts on outside versus inside successors. He also studies what factors determine the share premium for shareholders in target firms. A part from being a professor at CBS, Caspar Rose serves as high level free-lance consultant for large Danish listed firms within his areas of expertise. Colin Mayer Colin Mayer is the Peter Moores Professor of Management Studies at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. He is an Honorary Fellow of Oriel College, Oxford and of St Anne s College, Oxford, and a Professorial Fellow of Wadham College, Oxford. He is an Ordinary Member of the UK
2 Competition Appeal Tribunal, a member of the UK Government Natural Capital Committee, and a Fellow of the European Corporate Governance Institute. Colin Mayer was the first professor at the Saïd Business School in 1994, the Peter Moores Dean of the Business School between 2006 and 2011, and the first Director of the Oxford Financial Research Centre between 1998 and He has served on the editorial boards of several leading academic journals and assisted in establishing prestigious networks of economics, law and finance academics in Europe at the Centre for Economic Policy Research and the European Corporate Governance Institute. He was a Harkness Fellow at Harvard University, a Houblon-Norman Fellow at the Bank of England, the first Leo Goldschmidt Visiting Professor of Corporate Governance at the Solvay Business School, Université de Bruxelles, and has had visiting positions at Columbia, MIT and Stanford universities. Colin Mayer was chairman of Oxera Ltd. between 1986 and 2010 and was instrumental in building the company into what is now one of the largest independent economics consultancies in Europe. He has consulted for numerous large corporations and for governments, regulators and international agencies around the world. Finn Østrup Finn Østrup is Doctor of Economics and works as Professor at the Department of International Economics at Copenhagen Business School (CBS). He has written extensively on the financial system, including the Danish financial system. Recent work includes articles on corporate governance in the Danish financial sector. Flemming Bligaard Pedersen Flemming Bligaard Pedersen is educated in the fields of civil and structural engineering, with a Ph.D. degree in Structural Dynamics. He has been the President and Group CEO of Rambøll from 1992 to He has been developing strategies and models for business leadership and for acquisition and mergers of domestic and international consulting companies. Mr Pedersen developed Ramboll s value-based concepts of holistic operation and holistic accounting. He has been member of the FIDIC Executive Committee He is at present counsellor for the new executive board at Ramboll and active as chairman or board member at several companies in Denmark and in Russia with focus on international business development. 3 Georg Ringe Wolf-Georg Ringe is Professor of International Commercial Law at Copenhagen Business School. He also teaches at the University of Oxford, where he was a full-time faculty member between As part of a European-wide consortium, he regularly advises the European Parliament on issues of European company law. Georg teaches various courses in the field of corporate governance and business law, and his current research interests are in the general area of Law and Finance, (Comparative) Corporate Governance, Capital and Financial Markets, Insolvency Law and the Conflict of Laws. Georg Wernicke Georg Wernicke is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Corporate Governance at Copenhagen Business School (CBS). His research focusses on corporate governance and corporate social responsibly with a special focus on the role of media. Hannes Wagner Hannes Wagner is Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance at Bocconi University. His research is focused on empirical corporate finance. He is currently studying board compensation, family firms during the financial crisis, and when large global firms force out CEOs. His work has been published in the Review of Financial Studies, the Review of Finance and the Journal of Corporate Finance. He has been awarded the S.A.C. Capital Advisors, L.P. 4 Karsten Engsig Sørensen Karsten Engsig Sørensen is professor at the Department of Law, Aarhus University, Denmark, where he is also responsible for the PhD programme in law. He holds a Danish law degree, a PhD (on EU company law), and a Danish dr. jur. (on joint ventures). His research is mainly focused on EU law and company law, and in these areas he has published several books and articles in both Danish and English. He has also been co-editor of several books in both areas, including The European Financial Market in Transition, Kluwer Law International, He is a one of the two editors of the SSRN e-journal Nordic and European Company Law, and a member of the Nordic Network for Company Law. Marc Steffen Rapp Marc Steffen Rapp is Full Professor at Philipps-Universität Marburg (Germany), where he serves as the head of the Institute of Management Accounting. His research interests comprise all aspects of corporate finance and governance, in particularly the interrelation between ownership concentration, management incentives and corporate behavior. Marc also serves as an academic co-director of the Center for Corporate Governance (CCG) at HHL. Rasmus Kristian Feldthusen Rasmus Kristian Feldthusen is Professor, Ph.D. at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen. Gilson is the Meyers Professor of Law and Business at Stanford University and the Stern Professor of Law and Business at Columbia University. Professor Gilson s academic work has focused on corporate governance and acquisitions along both comparative and domestic dimensions, and on the economic structure of transactions, complex contracting and organizational structures. He is the author of The Law and Finance of Corporate Acquisitions (with B. Black), Cases and Materials on Corporations (with J. Choper & J. Coffee), and over 90 articles in law and economics journals. Professor Gilson was one of the Reporters of the American Law Institute's Corporate Governance Project, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and of the European Corporate Governance Institute. Professor Gilson is the independent chair of the
5 boards of directors of the American Century Mountain View Family of Mutual Funds with assets under management of approximately $45 billion. Ulf Nielsson Ulf Nielsson is an assistant professor of finance at Copenhagen Business School. Ulf holds a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University in New York. His research is focused on financial markets and institutions, which has been recognized by e.g. the Danish Council for Independent Research and the Federation of European Securities Exchanges. Ulf has also been awarded for outstanding teaching at both Columbia University and Copenhagen Business School. Zohar Goshen Zohar Goshen, is the Alfred W. Bressler Professor of Law, Columbia Law School, and the former Chairman of Israel Securities Authority (Israel s SEC). His research is focused on corporate governance, ownership structures, and securities regulation, with numerous publications in Law Reviews. His report, as the chairman of Israel Securities Authority s Corporate Governance Committee, was adopted through legislation and completely changed the corporate governance landscape in Israel.
