1 Bank of Kigali Wins Big in 2014 Kigali, 11 th December 2014 Bank of Kigali (the Bank ), the largest bank in Rwanda by market share of total assets, loans, deposits and shareholders funds, announced that it has been named the country winner of the Bank of the Year 2014 Award by The Banker magazine for the fifth year since The Award, introduced in 2000 by The Banker magazine, is given to leading commercial and investment banks worldwide in recognition of their achievements. At a ceremony held in London on the 27 th of November 2014, Bank of Kigali was recognised for its ability to defend its market-leading position and, in some areas, grow its market share. The Bank has about a one-third market share in terms of assets, loans and customer deposits. The Rwandan Ambassador to the UK, Mr. William Nkurunziza accepting the Award in London on behalf of Bank of Kigali ltd. The Bank was commended for continuing to invest in alternative delivery channels, such as mobile banking and the agency banking platform, BK Yacu, which allows real-time mobile transactions and money transmission to any mobile subscriber in the country regardless of whether they have a bank account or not. Also mentioned was the fact that Bank of Kigali recently began offering custodial

2 services to local, regional and international investors; a move that is bound to improve the investment environment of the country. On the 4 th of December 2014, Bank of Kigali received another award in London. It scooped the Best Bank in Rwanda Award from Emeafinance for the sixth consecutive year. Speaking at a charity dinner to mark the event, Christopher Moore, Publisher & CEO of EMEA Finance said, We are proud to recognize Bank of Kigali as our Best Bank in Rwanda again this year. The Bank consistently performs at the highest level and has recorded another year of impressive double-digit growth. Assets, deposits and lending increased by 29%, 26% and 27% respectively. Rwandan Embassy First Secretary, Mr. James Uwizeye receives the Emeafinance Award on behalf of Bank of Kigali ltd. Tim Burke, the editor of EMEA Finance magazine explained, "In a market where most of the banking sector was in a more defensive mode, Bank of Kigali stands out with its strong growth story, and impressive return on equity. The Bank is a bellwether for the industry and a blue chip on the nascent local exchange." Earlier this year Bank of Kigali collected a couple of other prestigious awards. In May 2014, the Bank received the Best East African Bank Award from the African Banker s for a second time. It also

3 scooped the FiRe Award for Best Financial Reporting Company in Rwanda for the second time. In July, the Bank received the Euromoney Award for Excellence 2014 as the Best Bank in Rwanda for the second year in a row. We are very pleased and honoured to receive all these awards. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the organisers of these awards but above all to the entire banking team at Bank of Kigali for their relentless hard work. This is not only recognition of our efforts but an encouragement to keep moving forward, commented Dr. James Gatera, the Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Kigali.
