1 GOLDSMITHS University of London INDEPENDENT MEMBERS OF COUNCIL: MS DINAH CAINE Dinah is a member of the Creative Industries Council which oversees the development and implementation of Industrial Strategy. The Sector Deal between Government and the Creative Industries was published in March 2018 and work to progress its implementation is currently underway. Dinah has Chaired the CIC s work on Skills and education since its inception in 2011 In 2017 she Chaired Camden Council s STEAM Commission which published Creating Camden s 21st Century Talent and in 2018 is Chairing the Implementation group which is putting the report s recommendations into practice. In 2015 Dinah served as a Commissioner on Warwick Universities Commission inquiry into the Future of Cultural Value which published Enriching Britain: Culture, Creativity and Growth. She was the founder and long serving CEO of Creative Skillset and served as its Chair from 2015 to She is a member of the Skills Commission, an independent body which works alongside the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Skills & Employment.. She has previously served under two Mayors as an Advisor on the London Skills and Employment Board, on the Joint Board of the Scottish Arts Council and Scottish Screen, and as a Board member of the Northern Ireland Film & TV Commission. She is a member of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Television Society for her outstanding contribution to the Television Industry in Dinah was awarded the OBE for her services to the Media Industries in the Queen's Golden Jubilee Honours List in 2002, and was awarded the CBE for her services to the Creative Industries in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in MR NICK BARRON Nick is the Deputy CEO of international consultancy MHP Communications. A specialist in corporate reputation, he advises clients on campaign-building, brand strategy and issues management. His clients range from governments and NGOs to start-ups and multinationals. Nick's previous experience includes having served as Managing Director of Edelman London, as a board member of Impact Squared and as the Head of Communications for Wembley Stadium. Nick runs local Lewisham website Brockley Central and is a life-long resident of South East London.

2 MR IAN BORMAN Ian Borman is a solicitor and partner based in the London office of Winston & Strawn LLP, a leading international law firm headquartered in Chicago. He has practiced as a banking and finance lawyer for twenty years, specialising in a wide range of international corporate debt financing transactions. Ian was previously a member of the board of SJ Berwin LLP and a board member for 10 years (and later chairman) of L Ouverture Trust, an arts and education charity based in New Cross Gate. Ian is actively involved in training for the Loan Market Association, speaking at conferences and writing articles on financing topics. MS ALTHEA EFUNSHILE Althea Efunshile CBE has had a 35 year career working in the fields of education, the arts, and children & young people. She is Chair of the National College for Creative Industries, a Non-Executive Director of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a Non-Executive Director of Channel 4, and a trustee of Ballet Black. Until October 2016 she was Deputy Chief Executive of Arts Council England where she was responsible for day to day operational delivery; led on the development and implementation of the Investment Strategy; and led on cultural education and work for children and young people. Prior to joining the Arts Council in 2007, Althea spent six years as a senior civil servant in the Department for Education and Skills working in various director level roles all concerned with improving outcomes for vulnerable and disadvantaged children. From 1996 to 2001, she was a chief officer with the London Borough of Lewisham, first as Director of Education and Community Services, and then as Executive Director for Education and Culture. Althea began her career as a secondary school teacher in the London Borough of Brent. She was awarded a CBE for services to arts and culture in June MS HELEN MACNAMARA Helen MacNamara is Director General for Propriety & Ethics in the Cabinet Office. She used to work for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government as Director General for Housing where she was responsible for government policy on housing including 25 billion of investment. She was previously Director of the Economic and Domestic Secretariat in the Cabinet Office, working for the Cabinet Secretary from 2013 to She was responsible for coordinating government preparations for the 2015 General Election. She worked in the Department of Culture, Media and Sport from 2002 to 2013 where she held a variety of roles including working on the Olympic bid, where she did the planning for the staging of the 2012 Games, as Principal Private Secretary to the Rt Hon Tessa Jowell and as Director for media policy where she was responsible for setting up the Leveson Inquiry and the subsequent crossparty response. She spent the early part of her career working in the digital and creative industries after studying history at Clare College, Cambridge. In 2011 she was on Management Today s list of 35 women leaders under 35 and the 50 women to watch working in the cultural sector.

3 She was a trustee of Target Ovarian Cancer 2008 to She is married with 4 children and lives in New Cross in London. MS PAM RAYNOR Pam Raynor has a background in finance with experience across several commercial sectors including retail, FMCG, financial services, and media, most recently as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial officer of Conde Nast Publications Ltd. Originally from Yorkshire, she studied mathematics at University College, London before qualifying as an accountant in the City, with Deloitte. She left Deloitte to join one of her client companies Harrods as CFO, and has since held senior finance roles in several companies, including Diageo Plc, Legal & General Plc and the HMV Media Group. As well as her roles in finance, she has experience as COO for IT, legal affairs including contracts, copyright and trademarks, HR, and property, and has for many years acted as a trustee of a number of pension funds. Pam also played a major role in the setting up of the Conde Nast College of Fashion and Design, which offers both BA and MA degrees as well as short courses. She is a trustee of the Henry Moore Foundation. MS LYNN PEARCY Lynn was for many years a partner with KPMG in the UK, advising across a wide range of sectors on financial reporting and achieving the governance objective of fair and transparent disclosure. She chaired KPMG s global employee benefits topic team for several years. She serves on a number of financial reporting committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Lynn is a trustee of The Victorian Society and of a school-bursary charity. MR AARON PORTER Aaron Porter has a portfolio of roles across the higher education sector. He is Associate Director (Governance) for Advance HE, leading a national development programme for governors in the higher education sector as well as providing tailored support to improve governing body effectiveness. He is also the Director of Policy and Engagement for the Hotcourses Group, the largest global student research site and a Strategic Adviser to Civitas Learning, a US learning analytics organisation. He is the non-executive Chair of the Board of Governance at Nelson College London, a specialist hospitality and Business College based in East London. Outside of higher education he serves as a member of the statutory education committee of the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) members' panel and is a governor of a Church of England state primary school in the London Borough of Croydon. A previous President of the National Union of Students (NUS), he has served on a number of boards including UCAS, HEFCE, the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA), the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and the Council of the University of Leicester. He is a

4 Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and has a Honorary Doctorate from the University of Leicester for his contribution to the student experience and higher education policy. SIR DAVID REDDAWAY Sir David Reddaway is Chief Executive and Clerk of the Goldsmiths Company in the City of London. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Beko Plc; a Member of the Advisory Board of Bath University School of Management; and a Member of the Council of Experts of the Democratic Progress Institute. In his previous Foreign and Commonwealth Office career, he was Ambassador to Turkey; Ambassador to Ireland; High Commissioner to Canada; UK Special Representative for Afghanistan; and Charge d Affaires in Iran. He had earlier overseas postings in Argentina, India, Spain and Iran (during the Islamic Revolution). In London, he was FCO Director responsible for press, public diplomacy and cultural work, including relations with Parliament, the Devolved Administrations, the BBC World Service and the British Council, and for the FCO s global visa and consular operations. He was a Fellow at Harvard University. He studied Persian at SOAS and History at Cambridge (M.A.), where he also rowed for the University Lightweight crew. Before university he was a volunteer teacher in Ethiopia, and during university vacations he taught English in a Cambridge language school. MS SUE REECE Sue took up her role as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience) at Staffordshire University in January 2017 after 4 months as Interim Deputy Vice Chancellor. Her role includes responsibility for Student and Academic Services, Student Recruitment including International Recruitment, Admissions, Marketing and Public Relations and Academic Policy and Development with a focus on the quality agenda. Sue has over 22 years experience at a senior level in Higher Education including the role of Pro Vice Chancellor and has worked extensively in the international development field. Previous roles have included CEO of IEOglobal, Pro Vice Chancellor at York St John University and Director of Student Recruitment & Business Partnerships at the University of Sunderland. She has been fortunate in her career to have managed a portfolio that includes every point in the student journey as well as ensuring that the institution operates as a successful business. Her experience covers the establishment of partnerships and development of Trans-national delivery and branch campuses around the world such as Europe, USA, China, Pakistan and India. She has managed numerous international and UK based projects holding many key responsibilities, including:

5 Chair of East Durham College Board (FEC) Chair of the City of Sunderland Economic Masterplan University City; bringing together education providers, private sector companies and 3rd sector organisations to write and deliver the master plan that would deliver the workforce to ensure the economic prosperity of the city. She was until recently a member of the QAA Board and is currently chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at Goldsmith's University of London Council and the Foundation of Light Education Board. MS CAROL RUE Carol Rue is an experienced Senior Executive and Board Member. She is Chair of WPF Therapy; was on the Board at Regent s University for 6 years ( ), where she chaired the Finance Committee and then became Vice Chair. Her leadership career spans senior roles in public and private sectors in the UK and internationally, with a particular emphasis on marketing and business development. Carol was in the telecommunications sector for over 20 years, initially with BT and subsequently Nortel Networks. She has 6 years of experience in Higher Education, developing and providing career and personal development services for MBAs and other business Masters students and alumni, at London Business School and Warwick Business School. Carol has worked in central government - on change management (DTI) and promoting international trade (UKTI). She has an Executive MBA from London Business School and is a qualified and experienced developmental coach, with Post Graduate Diplomas from Birkbeck and Oxford Brookes. MS VANESSA SHARP Vanessa Sharp is a commercial solicitor and company Director. She was, for many years, the General Counsel for KPMG in the UK and Europe and prior to then a solicitor at the City law firm Ince and Co. She is an experienced risk, legal and compliance and governance professional with a background in the regulated professional and financial services industries. Vanessa is a Board Member of ICE Futures Europe Limited, Companies House and Newable Limited. She also acts as a consultant providing legal advice, strategic governance, organisational and board reviews. She is a trustee of Create, an arts education charity and a Fellow of the RSA. Vanessa is also a practicing jeweller and silversmith. MR TOM WILSON Tom retired in 2015 after a career in Trade Unions and Skills. He set up and was Director of Unionlearn, the Education, Training and Skills arm of the TUC. Tom is Chair of GTA England, a consortium of not for profit apprenticeship training providers; Chair of the University for Industry Charitable Trust which promotes ICT in education for adults; a visiting fellow of UCL and of Wolverhampton University.

6 He also works with the Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD, the International Labour Organisation, and the Ethical Trading Initiative. Tom is a fellow of the CIPD. DR THEODORA ZEMEK Theodora serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of BlackRock Fund Managers Limited. She spent her entire executive career in Financial Services, primarily in Portfolio Management and Investment Leadership. She spent ten years at M&G Investment Management, where she founded the Fixed Income team and the first UK Corporate Bond Fund, and subsequently became CIO of M&G International. In 2001, she moved to New Star Asset Management, where she founded yet another successful Fixed Income team, with a strong offering in the UK Unit Trust market. In 2008, she was recruited as the Global Head of Fixed Income at Axa Investment Management, where she was responsible for 350 billion in assets, and a team of 130 in five international locations. She sat on the Global Executive Committee for Axa Investment Management, as well as other subsidiary boards. Dr. Zemek obtained her BA degree in French Literature and Philosophy, magna cum laude, from Yale University in She received an MA and PhD in Modern History from Clare College Cambridge in Dr. Zemek holds a trusteeship as Council member of Goldsmiths, as well as an advisory role on interest rate strategy at Neptune Investment Management.
