2 Acoustic Bossa Key: D Major This Bossa Nova inspired backing track is a great way to develop new melodic ideas using the D Major scale. Make sure you listen to what the other instruments are playing as you develop your solo and focus on musicality! Acoustic Pop Key: C Major Use the C major scale to emphasize the positive vibe of the track. Let your ears guide you through the chord changes. Listen first and then, make informed note choices. Also, let the track breath. There s a lot going on with the rhythm section, so phrase accordingly.

3 Acoustic Trails Key: E Minor This is a perfect track to work on your modal playing. The first changes suggest E Dorian and then E Aeolian. Listen and switch between the modes as your ears guide you. Also, make sure you follow the swing feel that the rhythm section is playing Country Fields Key: A Major This track calls for some really heartfelt playing. Enrich your expressiveness with all the resources that we as guitarist have: bends, vibrato, slides, etc. Use the A major scale and bend and slide through the scale, it really fits the track nicely.

4 Eagle Sunrise Key: E Major Combine the E Major pentatonic and the E major scale to solo over this track. Also, walking up and down the scale using intervals really works in this context and, evoke that country sound the track has. Thirds and Sixths intervals sound great here. Elegant Evening Key: F# minor The combination of the minor key with the acoustic instrumentation, really emphasize the bossa / latin feel of this track. Use the F# Aeolian mode and follow the rhythm section changes. When the drummer goes to the ride cymbal, intensify your playing. You can even switch to some F# minor pentatonic phrasing for that Santanesque feeling.

5 Hipster Folk Key: F Major Lots of chord changes on this Hipster Folk. Start on the safe zone of the pentatonic and as you familiarize with the harmonic movement, explore with your major scale modes. Again, finding the way to be musical with a busy rhythm section is the challenge here.

6 Jazz Of Mine Key: Bb Major This is a great track to explore melodic playing. Listen to the bossa nova feel and the beautiful piano embellishments and play accordingly. The Bb major scale is all you need to find melodies that fit.

7 Jazzy Side Key: F minor Even though there s some challenges on keeping up with the harmonic changes of this track, you can still use the F minor pentatonic and sound just fine. As you gain confidence, try F harmonic minor when the V7 (C7) chord appears. Also, outline the Bb chord change with the arpeggio or use F dorian, for that jazzy sound.

8 Lazy Sunday Key: D minor Follow the swing feel of the track and use the D aeolian scale for your note choices. As usual, D minor pentatonic also works, and it s really effective when it comes to set a different mood for your melodies.

9 Life Is A River Key: C minor Play C Aeolian over this. Choosing which notes from the mode emphasize, it s a great way to give structure to your improvisation. For example: when the B section of the backing track kicks in, try to play Ab over the Fm chord so you re really emphasizing the chord change. Of course you can use any notes and let your ear guide you.

10 Lullaby Dream Key: Bb minor Pay close attention to V chord (F7) on this backing track. It suggests the Bb harmonic minor scale. Use the track to train your ears to recognize that V7 chord so you can move seamlessly between Bb natural minor (Aeolian) and Bb harmonic minor when you re soloing.

11 Poppy Rock Key: G Major This track is all about the style, a really easy- going acoustic pop theme. Work on your solo so that it fits the track. Not too bluesy, not too rock, and not too country. Use the G major scale to find your melodies and themes.

12 Road Ahead Key: E Major This backing track really inspires you to be expressive and melodic. Try to hear or sing the melodies that the music suggests and use the E major scale to translate those melodies to your guitar. This is a great exercise for developing your melodic playing.

13 Sappy Ballad Key: D minor Use this track to familiarize with the D harmonic minor scale. It s a very rich and distinctive sound. Look for the A7 (V chord) and emphasize the C# note of the scale. That s the note that will give you that characteristic harmonic minor sound.

14 Seashore Stroll Key: A minor The challenge here is to move seamlessly between the melodic minor sound of the first part of the backing track and the harmonic minor sound of the second part. It s a great track to explore different sounds and move out of your comfort zone. Take It Easy Key: F# minor Pay attention to the accompaniment on this track. Approach your soloing as if you were answering to a musical question that the other instruments are asking. The relaxed pace of this track really allows for this musical conversation. The F# Aeolian scale should give you all the sounds you need for this.

15 Touch Of Country Key: A Major Listen to the IV chord at the beginning of the B section. Outlining that D chord is a great way to define the start of a new section and take your solo to a new place. Go back to the A major scale on the A section.

16 Trainful Thought Key: G minor Use G minor pentatonic and G minor blues as your core sounds for this track. Keep your phrasing relaxed and melodic to really serve the track. Even if you are soloing over this backing track, your goal is to be musical and say something meaningful along with the other instruments.

17 Walking Straight Key: G Major Take your time and listen to the track. Use the G major scale to be really melodic. Explore the options that the guitar has to offer. Things like slow bends and intervallic passages can add variety to your soloing over this beautiful track.
