Where Breedlove Guitars are designed and crafted is just as important as how and why they are built. Breedlove Guitars is rooted in the small mountain town of Bend, Oregon. We chose to live close to nature with an emphasis on outdoor recreation, strong community, a love of music, environmental awareness and an appreciation for all things created by skilled craftsmen. 5 MEET OUR TEAM Designed and crafted by people you d want to play with isit the Break Room at our workshop and the team is probably talking about the latest snowfall, the biggest waves, or a fresh push of wild salmon into a nearby river. It s an intertwined convergence of passions, obsessions, and a harmony between what feeds our souls on and off the clock. It s just one of the elements which allows us to craft the best sounding instruments the right way. Our connection to the natural world around us provides insight into the woods we work with, the forest stewardship we believe in and backs up our commitment to being the authority on acoustic sound. 6 TE SOUND OPTIMIZATION PROCESS Our four step process starts in the forest, is implemented in our workshop and comes to life within each strum. 1. The Sound Optimization Process begins with The Tonewood Certification Project, where we sustainably source exotic tonewoods from the world s forests. 2. Next, we analyze each wood species and individual tonewood set to understand its variability and music making capability. 3. Then, we individually craft each USA made guitar using frequency analysis and hand voicing to minimize instrument variability and yield consistently superior sounding and playing guitars. 4. Lastly, Sound Optimization allows us to craft revolutionary body shapes to fit you to your sound and playing style. 6

28 OREGON SERIES Marrying Sitka Spruce with Myrtlewood Surpassing the Sound, Tonal Balance and Richness of Traditional Tonewoods By far the most commonly used top wood, Sitka spruce has an exceptional strength to weight ratio. Growing in southeast Alaska s temperate rainforest, it grows less than six inches a year, fighting its way through the dense old-growth forests. Growing straight and up to 300 feet tall, the age of the trees used by Breedlove are years old. We never harvest one of these magnificent trees, but work with Alaska Specialty Woods to salvage blown down, dead trees from the forest floor.
