10 Descendants of Peter Warburton 7 First Generation 1. Peter Warburton was born about 1769, died in 1841 in Coppenhall, Cheshire aged about 72, and was buried on 13 Dec 1841 in Coppenhall (Crewe), St Michael, Cheshire. General Notes: Peter s origins are unclear. There is no matching baptism at or near Coppenhall in on-line sources that matches Peter s likely date of birth so he probably moved in from elsewhere. His details are deduced from the various available records but involve a degree of speculation. An Elizabeth of appropriate age from Church Coppenhall was buried in 1836 so the marriage of Peter to Mary Yoxall is assumed to be a second marriage. Peter and Mary had both been widowed, and Peter s father s name was given a John. Peter and Mary appear together in the 1841 census with appropriate ages. Peter was said to be born in Cheshire. The death of a Peter was registered at Nantwich in 4q 1841 (19 136). He was aged 72 on his burial record implying he was born in Coppenhall is sometimes referred to as Church Coppenhall. The former is the parish, the latter a town within the parish. It later became the borough of Crewe so the names Crewe and Coppenhall are synonymous. Joseph Warburton was born on 1 Feb 1817 in Coppenhall Moss, Cheshire and was christened on 21 Sep 1817 in Coppenhall (Crewe), St Michael, Cheshire. The location is not near Acton where she was born, or Church Coppenhall, but it is the closest marriage in time and distance to the birth of their first child.
