1 1 LESSON #1: EXPRESSING FEELINGS Book (5 copies per classroom): Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst A book bag to hold all books, lesson plans and supplies, including the following: Black or blue magic marker Scotch tape Red construction paper to make small red paper hearts, Prior to classroom session make small red paper hears (4-5 in size) - one for each child in the classroom. Large sheet of white butcher paper or large white poster board 24 x 36. Prior to classroom session make a large red heart in the middle of this paper or poster board. For extension activity have a pencil, pen, eraser, or some other such article. handy for assigning speaking privilege LESSON #2: BUILDING COMMUNITY Book (5 copies per classroom): The Knight and the Dragon by Tomie DePaola, including the following: Black magic marker to draw the human outline Butcher paper (24 x 36 preferred) 10 3 x3 sticky pads Prepare an outline of a Caring Being on the butcher paper before the lesson. You can either trace an outline of a student on mural paper or create a shape that will represent Our Caring Being (see attachment in this packet).
