2 Hi, our team is Youdunnit. We are trying to solve a case involving graffiti on a roller door reading, WINK. This occurred on Thursday 5th November Mrs Paige Turner who owns the Bookworm book shop needed books for her display and went to get some around the back of her store. When she came back she saw someone writing on Mike Arr s roller door with a black marker pen. Mrs Paige Turner yelled, Stop that! He ran off in the direction of the Novella Lakes Train Station. Mrs Paige Turner gave a description of the boy to Sergeant Justin Thyme that included the boy was wearing a Novella Lakes High School uniform and a dark coloured cap was pulled low over his face. Sargent Justin Thyme found three boys waiting at the train station all wearing clothes that fitted the description given by Paige Turner. Sergeant Justin Thyme took them to the police station for questioning. The boys didn t answer any of the questions.

6 The graffiti on Mike Arr s roller door was 210cm high and Will is 184 cm high, he could easily reach this height. The graffiti on the roller door read WINK. This could stand for W = Will, INK = Inkitt Will Inkitt has an alcohol based marker in his pocket and Professor Dee Enay found traces of alcohol based ink on Will s fingers. From picture (C1) of the witness statement we can see someone running in blue shoes. Will also has blue shoes. The crime happened at around 7:50 and the photo (C1) was taken at 7:52 that is enough time to run away. Will Inkitt has two Mentos in his pockets and there was a Mentos wrapper at the floor of the crime scene. In the short space of time that Mrs Paige Turner went to the back of her store to get more for her display, the tip of the marker would have to be thick to write over the bumpy roller door quickly. In the picture of Will Inkitt s pocket (P1), the ingredients of his thick marker were scribbled out. Will Inkitt lives in Pristine Pines where Senior Constable Linus Uppe reported other graffiti crimes on roller doors and walls.

8 In the short space of time that Mrs Paige Turner went to the back of her store to get more for her display, the tip of the marker would have to be thick to write over the bumpy roller door quickly. So Will Inkitt would have had to use his thick marker. The other suspects didn t have pens that were suitable for writing on roller doors quickly. The pen tip seems as though it has been used.

9 On the pen that Hugh was carrying, the tip doesn t appear to be used. Also, the pen is thin, therefore it wouldn t be able to go over the roller door in such a short amount of time. This pen is water based.

10 The pen found in Mike s pocket is FAR to small to graffiti on a roller door. The pen wouldn t even leave a mark. This is the type of pen you would use in class. We don t know for sure that the pen is alcohol based but traces of alcohol were found on Mikes hands.
