I hope all of you are doing well and for some of us, we re not looking forward to the cold over the next months to come. We are moving along with the newsletter in electronic format. This is really a difficult thing, as we need to watch the size, make sure everyone gets it, etc.. This will take a bit of growing pains, but in the end this will make the newsletter easier and a faster way of communicating. I am still hoping you are all looking at trying to find ways to have the club grow. We have had a few new members trickling in, but we could use a lot more as the ambition to grow is still one of our top priorities. Plans are in the works even further now for the convention. We are in the process of addition and subtraction of what will make the next convention even better than last year s. We hope to see you all there, and we will post things a s t h e y b e c o me available. Again, we need your input as a few members have made suggestions, but for the most part, there has been silence among the members. Hope you found some things to add to your collections this summer. I ve noticed more flea markets, garage sales, etc. than I can remember in years past. Either this means everyone is buying too much or everyone is trying to get rid of the stuff they bought from last year! It s always an adventure to find that one item that you really are looking for. y last line for this newsletter is do something kind for someone in the next few weeks or months. I have come across new friend who has inspired me as to their kindness and decency (you know who you are.). There are a lot of us out there who are worried about what is in it for them instead of what we might do to bring a smile to someone s face. I am again like a kid in a candy store when I get something that makes my collection that much brighter. 2 P A G E 2 FALL NEWSLETTER 2011 Vice President s essage Hello from Tom (cnick) Nichols. (Vice President) Tom Bruene called the other day and asked if I would like to meet with Ernie arkus. Ernie is 90 and had been in cdonald s Collectors Club for years. We spend some time reminiscing about conventions, people, and finding that great item for our collection. Then came the hunt. Ernie has a ton of items and he is looking for good homes for his collection. Good thing I drive a van. Items that came home with me included translites, banners, Toys from D i s n e y P a r i s, Cleveland Indian baseballs, danglers, etc. I left lots of Happy eal boxes, IP toys, translites, displays, a logo cdonald and much much more. Ernie is a great guy to t a l k t o a b o u t cdonalds collecting. He loved his collecting days and wants to talk to people that will carry on where he is leaving off. If you are a new collector that wants to see a lot of things in one place at bargain prices, Ernie can help you out. If you have any questions, I am always happy to talk or me. Happy chunting! But it sounds like a great place to have our 2012 cdonald s Collectors Club Convention. A brand new location that will bring new people, new items and a continuing new hope for this club to grow in the years to come. The sooner you sign up for the convention, the easier for the convention organizers to put their activities together. Remember, when you sign up this year, let us know if you bring items for room hopping so that we can give everyone an idea of what you have and where you are at. If at all possible, we will try and put the people with items all in one area so that everyone can get to each and every room if they want to buy something.
