A Separate Peace Time Capsule BY: Tori Foster Block 4 White Day
My Favorite World War II Time Songs In Order Army Air Corps Beer Barrel Polka I want a Girl Working on the R.R. Its a Grand Old Flag Caissons Go Rolling Along
The Coolest Propaganda Propaganda was like advertisement for a certain cause. I have seen a lot but I think that these three are my favorites. I like the first one, because my grandparents display it in their home, plus the girl is hot! I like the second one because of the explosion, and the intense emotion portrayed. I like the last one because it is propaganda about propaganda, which I find quite amusing. I also find that they're quite self explanatory.
The Pacific Located Battles Despite what one might think, the Pacific battles didn't only happen on the waters of the Pacific Ocean, but they were also fought on ground and up in the sky. Everything changed as to the way things were going for the Pacific war in June of Believe it or not it was one battle, the Battle of Midway, that changed everything. This battle stretched through a time span of 4 days, but in the end it was worth it. In this battle, at LEAST 200 Japanese planes were obliterated thanks to the United States. Because of this mass obliteration, the United States took back Pacific control.
Drafting 1, 2 Drafting 3, 4 Not everyone could be drafted. Some people couldn't be drafted because of a medical deficiency. Deficiencies ranged from bone and muscle deformation all the way to a Sexually Transmitted Disease called Syphilis. Not only did you not get to be in the military because of it, but you were also typically outcast and or made fun of because of it. r
My Favorite Famous People Vera Lynn female singer who sung We'll Meet Again. The Andrew Sisters sung hundreds of different songs. Some that were popular, and some that were not. Clark Gable, James Stewart, William Wyler, and Frank Capra were all male actors or people involved in the movie production. The Andrew Sisters shown to the right.
Teenage Boy Clothing With the exception of when going to High School, jeans were worn as often as possible except Todays favorite comfy clothes t-shirts and jeans started being worn during this time. Older boys kind of sagged their pants like some do now a days.
Frisbie to Frisbee Frisbees, they went from a pie pan that William Russell Frisbie writing Frisbie in pie pans to advertise already made pies, and kids throwing around these pie pans, all the way to the kind of plastic Frisbees that we still use today. They were officially invented in the year 1948 by Walter Frederick Morrison and Warren Franscioni. (I can only imagine the games Finny would have come up with involving these.)
The Slinky The slinky was invented by Richard and Betty James in Richard James was the one who came up with the first slinky (his idea influenced by the effect of a spring falling onto the floor.) Later Richard James left his family and company to pursue religion. His wife Betty James took over the company and came up with variations of the slinky.
Medical Advances of the 1940s Penicillin was created There was a greater supply of blood as well as plasma which were needed for transfusions Because of second fact surgical advances were made. Cleanliness was improved Sulfonamides were created
Preparatory Schools: Purpose and Types The purpose of a preparatory school is to get the students ready for college. Two types of preparatory schooling are coed and boarding. In coed males and females have classes together. In boarding the students live at the school with the exception of summer break or other holiday breaks.
Preparatory Schools:Provisions and Bonuses Various subjects that can be studied. There are after school extracurriculars. Sports are one of the extracurriculars. Fewer students and or more teachers.
Preparatory Schools: Money, Money, Money Prices range greatly. Thousands of dollars. Prices from $10,000 all the way up to $60,000 If you have more than just one of your kids attending the school at the same time, then you can sometimes receive a discount. You can get financial help.
Franklin D. Roosevelt He was politically important because he was the United States president. At first, he didn't want to take sides in foreign wars, but eventually he saw that the issue with Hitler and the Nazis was a problem the could potentially have negative results world wide. Death: April 1945 His death took place before the war was over
Harry Truman Year of Birth: 1884 Became president of the United States of America after Franklin D. Roosevelt's death. In other words, he became president of the United States of America in 1945 When his term was up, he didn't want to be reelected so he retired. He retired in Year of Death: 1972
