From the important international issues to local crime and gang institutions, VIMUNC truly has it all. This year, we are committed to enhancing the delegate experience, and ensuring a positive community of chairs and staffers are attending to every need and issue. For both delegates and sponsors alike, we are going to create an experience that imitates the real United Nations, one of diplomacy and innovation. VIMUNC has a wide selection of twelve diverse high school committees, and five in-depth middle school committees. There is a committee and topic for every single delegate s interests, and we sincerely hope that this has a positive impact on the conference experience. 3 Committee Background This committee is placed directly after the events of the attack on the Asgardian Ship, which left many Asgardians dead including Loki and putting the might of the Space Stone, in the possession of Thanos. This leaves Thanos in the hands of two Infinity Stones; power and space, already making him one of the most powerful beings ever. At this point in time, the Avengers are all back on Earth and the Guardians of the Galaxy are presently in space. Although in the movie, they are all displaced throughout the galaxy, in this scenario, we will have all the Avengers back on Earth to simplify things. Through the course of this committee, we will have constant updates on possible whereabouts of Thanos and invasions and whatnot. This committee is centered around preventing Thanos from obtaining the rest of the Infinity Stones as well as protecting Earth from any such attacks from the Titan and his army. Committee will be quite fast paced as we will be trying to finish the plot of committee before we are out of time, so keep that in mind for crisis arcs. 4 Topic 1: Protecting the Earth from Invasion As we saw in 2012, the Chitauri ravaged New York leaving many casualties. In 2015, Ultron and his robot army attacked Sokovia leading to many dead, and the spark of the Sokovia Accords, which split the Avengers in 2. Now, word has spread of the final battle, against Thanos that will decide the fate of the world, or better put, the fate of the universe. Thanos s forces are planning an invasion of Earth to obtain the Soul and Time Stone for Thanos, and the Avengers have received word of this impending doom. As a result, the Avengers have all gathered together, for the first time since The Age of Ultron, to protect earth from this invasion and protect both infinity stones. As seen from the invasion of New York City a couple of years ago it is clear that the Avengers and Guardians only chance of beating Thanos s forces is by utilizing their powers together. The Mind Stone is safely protected in Visions forehead and the Time Stone is heavily guarded by Dr. Strange. However, they are still vulnerable to Thanos Black Order, who are tasked to obtain both Infinity Stones from earth back to Thanos. As the Avengers and Guardians, you will all have to work together to strategically protect both the Soul and Time Stone from the Black order and other forces of Thanos. Now one thing you can expect in this committee, are multiple attacks from the Black Order in their pursuit for the Infinity Stones. The committee will have to work together in combating the Order s dauntless attacks on Infinity Stone holders such as Vision and Doctor Strange to ensure that Thanos does not obtain these stones. Keep in mind that offensive strategies will leave Earth defenseless to invasion and defensive will give Black Order the chance to obtain Stones that are not on Earth. Invasions will be frequent throughout committee along with updates on the whereabouts of the stones as this will also change.

5 Topic 2: The Hunt for the Infinity Stones Prior to the creation of the universe, there existed six entities. Once the Big Bang occurred, these six entities were manifested into six stones - the Space, Soul, Time, Power, Reality and Mind Stone. The Space stone allows for the opening of portals across the universe for traversal, the Soul stone is capable of controlling the lives of both the living and the dead, while the Time stone is able to have complete control over time - being able to reverse it, pause it and fast forward it. The Power stone is capable of producing energy that can destroy entire populations, the Reality stone can manipulate reality to the owner s whim, and finally, the Mind stone is able to control minds. In order to achieve his goal of wiping out half of humanity, Thanos needs to acquire the six infinity stones. On the lookout for the infinity stones, Thanos sends his children, The Black Order, onto Earth to acquire the time stone, which rests with Dr. Strange, and the mind stone, which is embedded into Vision s forehead. Meanwhile, on Knowhere, The Collector is in possession of the reality stone following the events of Thor: The Dark World; the location of the soul stone remains unknown; the power store remains highly guarded on the planet Xandar, and the space stone is presumed to be destroyed on Asgard. With the Black Order on the chase for the Infinity Stones, it is up to the Avengers, the nation of Wakanda, and the Guardians of Galaxy to keep them safe. The committee has to keep in mind the ways to acquire the infinity stones, as well as ways to keep them safe. The committee must overcome constant attacks by the Black Order, Thanos, and his army of Chitauri as he attempts to collect all the stones. Top priorities of the Avengers should be to identify the locations of the soul stone; acquire the reality and power stones from the people they are located with; protecting the stones already in the possession of the Avengers; and making sure the space stone is for sure destroyed. Keep in mind, the Avengers must look for short-term and long term solutions to the infinity stones and Thanos himself. Simply keeping the two stones and any stones acquired during committee away from Thanos is not a viable solution and result in the deaths of millions if not billions of people around the world, including several Avengers members.

6 Questions to Consider: 1. How can you as a committee, protect Vision and the Mind Stone, along with Doctor Strange and the Time Stone, from Thanos, in an efficient way that doesn t bring a war to Earth? 2. What are some viable options to slow or even halt Thanos hunt for the Infinity Stones? 3. What security measures can Earth s forces take to prepare for a possible war against Thanos? 4. What offensive or defensive strategies will you implement in your solutions to properly counter attack the Black Order? 5. What valuable assets outside of people can be used to aid in your efforts to beat Thanos?
