Remarks: - Float (PMEL) has wrong deployment lat/lon => Update Notification - Basins have been redefined (for stats, tables, search engine) o Arctic Ocean added ( > 70 N) o Med. Sea unchanged o Atlantic Ocean refined (some west Atlantic floats were listed in Pacific) o Indian Ocean western boundary shifted to 150 (to be consistent with all maps projection) o Southern Ocean removed: it was defined as lat < -40. Hence statistics on deployment per basin, or query on Atlantic/Indian/Pacific were not accurate because of the important overlap with main basins. It is simple to query the database for your definition of southern ocean. This can be discussed further but the goal here is to have a classification that sticks with reality.
3 If I want to list all floats in the pacific and If I keep a southern ocean (lat < -40) I will miss many floats. Table 2 - Floats back on line: 12 WMO TELECOM PROG. Latest Loc. 10 All floats with the column duplicate = yes should be removed by GDACs from this directory. Remark: It seems that the procedure (at Coriolis GDAC) that gathers the TESAC of unknown platforms is too general and creates duplicates.
