9 AMACO OPALESCENT GLAZES Although AMACO Opalescent Glazes may be used on any clay, they develop their greatest opalescence and most interesting textures when applied over terracotta. The Opalescent Glazes have a high gloss finish when fired. Best results are achieved with three or four applications of glaze. On textured ware, the glaze flows thin on relief and thick in incised areas, giving an added dimension on the surface. 10 AMACO ARTIST S CHOICE These special effect glazes imitate potter s traditional favourites. They are cone 05 oxidation glazes that look like high-fired reduction stoneware glazes. Effects like Temmoku, Rutile, Oil Spot, and other reduction surfaces are achieved without the cost of high fire reduction. They can be fired over any earthenware clay, however they look best over terracotta. The color in the clay will partially show through where there is texture and adds dimension to the glaze. 30 DECALS Decals are printed images made from mineral toners. The toners are either silkscreen or digitally printed on special paper coated in a water soluble glue. The coloured images are then covered with a coating. When the decal is wet, the image is released from the paper, applied and fired in a kiln at approximately 760c. Once fired, these colours will become permanently embedded on top of the glaze of the ware.
